    Haddon Sundblom created the DEFINITIVE look for Santa!! It is literally the unparalleled Gold Standard for the look and feel of the Jolly Old Elf!!!

  • @59771006
    @59771006 6 лет назад +5

    For inspiration, Sundblom turned to Clement Clark Moore's 1822 poem "A Visit From St. Nicholas" (commonly called "'Twas the Night Before Christmas"). Moore's description of St. Nick led to an image of a warm, friendly, pleasantly plump and human Santa. (And even though it's often said that Santa wears a red coat because red is the color of Coca-Cola, Santa appeared in a red coat before Sundblom painted him.)

    A lot of people are misunderstanding what's being said here. They aren't saying they invented Santa. They're saying they're responsible for Modern Santa and how he's portrayed nowadays.

      @@alfgrebs6172 No, it is more than that. For example, many characteristics of Santa Claus comes from Germanic mythology, e.g. god Odin, elves.

    it's amazing that the reading of "Twas the night before Christmas" described your Santa to a tee and it must have been confusing to kids in 1837 when it was read as Santa then was nothing like the great one made by Coke's artist!!

    2:18- TO KAYONI! TO KAYONI! (Kayoni’s name in English is the Sprite Boy, and he’s on the left. It comes from “kayüga garconi,” which are the PKLN words for... well, “sprite boy,” obviously. The Sprite drink is even called Kayüga!)
    PKLN, by the way, is PokeLatin, a language I created for my multiple Pokémon fanfics.

    Dont wanna sound SJW here but Santa is a cultural appropriation of Odin. Odin is also known as Wotan or Woden. Christmas itself is a Christian cultural appropriation of Yule which is the northern European celebration of the mid winter solstice.

    • @NoName-t7e
      @NoName-t7e 7 лет назад

      Is not hard to imagine Sunblom drew some inspiration his northern European roots when reshaping Santa to look as we know him today.

    Santa was Nicolas born in the 4 century he as made an orphan after a disease killed his parents he was wealthy young orphan who helped those in need trying not to destroy there pride so he dropped gold into there stockings that were hung up to dry the people thought it was God answering there prayers he became a bishop and in his aged loved to travel and dreamt of seeing the entire world so sailors would pray to him and they thought he had magic powers so they say he would actually apear and help them and it just made them think more that he had magic powers, that’s as far as I know, I ignore the poor grammar and everything😂

    Thomas Nast created the first depiction of the modern day Santa Claus in 1881. What this guy did was cool, and probably made this image more popular, but he was given a head start by Thomas Nast. Thomas Nast was the first one to design and popularize what you consider the "Coca-Cola" Santa Claus, long before the 1931 ad that was "really Santa". I get how this guy made Santa more jolly looking or whatever, but you said it yourself in the video, with the previous depictions of the Coca-Cola Santa. You outright say that the ad in 1931 wasn''t the first drawing of Santa. Then you go and say that that Santa is the first. They were not the first designs of a Santa with a red coat, white beard and hat, and neither was the 1931 drawing. You can technically get away with saying what you're saying, but it implies that you forever changed what Santa looks like, which is not true. You bandwagoned on an existing design and changed his expression a little bit. Nice.
    Also I like how you make this into a sort of short-form, informative documentary about Coca-Cola, when really it's just a 2:55 ad.

      it's because they mix pagan rituals with religion.
      They mix: PAGANISM, tradion of nation, tradion of people, into Book where nowhere does this things are written and they call that ''Holly''.
      I think every holliday is useless itself. It only makes you spend money for useless celebration. But because a true religious being wants to follow true values, they celebrate RELIGION holliday.
      THE HOLLIDAYS wich are never mentioned by God are tradition and has nothing to do with God.

      Santa Clause represents happines and sharing the happines with presents and help in need.
      Isa prophet is Messanger of Allah(Great/All God/LLAH) who was send to Israiliti famillies of Jakub prophet descedants to tell them about Good News/Ijil/Gospel and that he is next prophet. To confirm previous Books and show them right path. After they rejected and made Gospel of Isa lost forever, Qur'an ahs been revailed.
      BUT PROPHETS OF GOD HAVE NOTHING to do with Santa Clause.

      No it's not. Priest Nicholas was called ''SAINT'' because in his entire life he gave people presents not because of commercial ''give and take to spread happiness'' but because of Order of Bible ''FEED POOR''
      wOMEN were sold in slavery if they refsed to marry someone at age 18. So Nicholas priest gave 2 Golden balls worth price to save them from human trafficking.
      When one guy found out about this young man he said to priest Nicolaus young guy , that he will spread news about his helping people , but priest Nicholas said that if he says it,he will be either killed, or people will try to search him ,so he said to him :spread about my life after my death. So just after Nicholas *DIED* as everyone else dies, that Guy spread word from this priest Nicholas.
      Since in Christianity everyone who was *GOOD PRIEST* becames called *SAINT*.
      he had this title ''saint''. So not just him but every other ''saint priest'' is called ''wizard''. Christian traditoion is to PRAY TO DEAD PEOPLE (not FOR the DEAD people) but ASKING DEAD ONES TO HELP THEM.
      it soon started with Saint Nicholas. in 1800 YEAR russian fairytale took him as ''the story'' so he was CALLED SANTA (SAINT). AND nickname from NICHOLAS (CLAUS) NI-CHLAUS. and that's where ''santa claus'' have name.
      Because he weared RED and RED is color where Man and animals see in women as ''abillity to reproduce unlike green'' RED was added in Coca Cola logo. Since Coca Coca Cola couldn't find any excuse to keep company alive they started to MIX IT with religion. So they added that color as second meaning as color of clothes priest nicholas WEARED.
      SINCE PRIEST NICHOLAS HADE WHITE BEARD AND WHITE HAIR, they made excuse to make it look like ?SNOW NEW YEAR CELEBRATION'' so he was called GRANDFATHER FROST.
      he weared blue clothes but it was not so famous. The green in picture was there but changed because animal fertillity into RED.
      POLAR BEARS ARE white, PRIEST NICHOLAS BEARD IS WHITE it looked so similiar and RED COLOR OF BLOOD OF PINGUINS THAT POLAR BEAR EATS, WAS suitable with Priest nicholas.
      NOT TO MENTION ALSO suitable gifting presents with 2 religions:
      ISLAM AND PAGANISM.
      Since Priest Nicholas was called ''early christian'' i think he was muslim, cause early christians prayed like Muslims.
      so no. SANTA CLAUSE IS simply BEAUTIFUL LIE.

    • @adnansalihovic9811
      @adnansalihovic9811 6 лет назад

      AS MUCH as i wanted that to be true it's simply not.
      ALL FACTS include that he was simply NORMAL human being.
      SANTA CLAUSE in story is called IMMORTAL HUMAN who is not from Adem first human, he have magical powers and his Mansion is IMPOSSIBLE TO take over.
      NOT TO MENTION that Only God throne is impossible so it's compared with GOD.
      ''THE ONE WHO SEE ALL,PUNISH ALL,REWARD ALL'' IS God abillity, not santa abillity.
