I was once a guest of a Scottish family in the Highlands in a B&B. I was there with my little son Mika and the Beardie and my son became friends immediately. Funny, in fact, was how the Beardie tried to herd my son, always gently nudging him in a direction he thought was safer.... 😂Great dogs!
They are just fantastic family dogs and they are great with kids! I am glad that you also had such a positive experience with your son. Wouldn't that be a dog for you guys too?
I think the story with this Mrs. Willison is absolutely sweet and impressive! 😍 And great that we owe it to this lady today that the breed still exists.
Yeah, that's kind of a touching story! But that's how it is sometimes. It actually happens that we owe it only to a dedicated person as a breeder that a breed continues to exist.
Great video! I also find the music very appropriate! But do not these dogs stink a lot when they get wet? Unfortunately, it is often the case that the most beautiful dogs smell the most in my experience.... Unfortunately!
Well, Beardie hair at least hardly. That is the advantage. But of course their long fur tends to smell more intensely of dog when it gets wet. But compared to e.g. a Newfoundland it is really harmless.
So, they're top notch with kids, as mentioned in another comment above. 😍 In and of itself, the Bearded Collie is quite a healthy and robust dog breed. As far as the bony apparatus is concerned, some Beardies suffer from elbow dislocations, here a displacement of the adjacent joint surfaces occurs, which leads to lameness and a more difficult extension and flexion of the elbow joint in the dog. The Bearded Collie can unfortunately also suffer from various eye diseases such as corneal dystrophy and corneal cataract. Progressive retinal atrophy (PRA), which initially leads to night blindness and later to complete blindness, is also diagnosed more frequently in the Beardie. First symptoms of this disease usually appear at a young age. The breed can also be susceptible to the skin disease pemphigus foliaceus, which is an autoimmune disease. But that was it with the susceptibilities for certain diseases in this breed.

Are Beardies good with children? What possible diseases to look out for in the breed?
