Awesome - I had the same issue with my 1993 Softail. Intermittent no engage. Drove me nuts. I took mine apart and was successful with sanding the contacts smooth. This video showed me what to do and gave me the confidence to know I was solving the problem! Again - AWESOME!
I was researching starter issues and came across your video very informative and will save a lot of time money and grief for many riders keep up the vids. From Your inking, riding, and blood brother Greg
been trying to help my dad with his 94 Harley soft tail. i'm an auto tech so he came to me. for the longest time when he would try to start it it would click a bunch of times then it would catch and start. did this for a long time, then all of a sudden it sometimes it wouldn't even click, other times it would only click. he started to work on it 2 years ago, took the primary off and oil tank out, that was about it, its been covered in his garage until a bout a month ago when he decided to fix it. his buddy is a Harley mechanic, told him to take the starter out, disassemble it, clean everything and put it back in and it should be fine. that didn't work, so he went and got a relay, still same thing, relay would click or sometimes not. that's when he asked me to help. i benched tested the start, seemed to work fine, i thought it felt a little rough, but i thought it should be fine. he got mad and went and bought a Harley starter. same thing, he started moving wires, and then it cranked. then nothing and it still clicks. tried moving wires around, but wouldn't do it again. i told him there must be a short or something and that we needed to start following the wires. i have power at the relay on both sides of it at all times even with the key off, to me that doesn't seem right but i I don't work on bikes so is this normal on a Harley.
I couldnt explain this to someone as well as you showed them exactly what I wanted to Share, hopefully we get buddys scoot twisting in the Wind shortly once he sees Fix. Thanks

Nice troubleshooting.
Wonderful... much obliged...
nice job. 👍👍
Thank you
I would like to know where you got the one piece dash
How many miles before it ended up doing that?
Found out battery must have 330 + CCA to start!
thanks
My battery is good, everything lights up but when i push the start button NOTHING not even a click
Might be the starter relay. Another common issue. $15 dollar fix.
Smontalo del tutto e mettere nuovo dopo non va😊
Thank you,
