  • Trying out the new Goodyear Eagle F1 SuperSport tyres on my Litchfield tuned M140i at Bedford Autodrome.
I've previously driven the car on the factory fit Michelin Pilot Supersports and a set of Michelin Sport Cup 2 track tyres.
I think the Goodyear F1 SuperSport is a great alternative to the MPSS. Haven't had a chance to test it in extreme wet conditions yet, but it certainly seems to handle water exceptionally well.
Very stiff sidewall means the ride is noticeably firmer than the MPSS, and in fact firmer than the MPSC2, but it does mean the steering is very responsive with good feedback.
In the dry, I would say outright grip is not quite as good as the MPSS, but as you can see from the video, breakaway is very progressive and well telegraphed.
However, so far the main advantage is the wear rate seems much better than the MPSS. Even after this pretty hot track day, there was no noticeable feathering on the shoulders (the M4 LCAs are an essential mod if you ever track your M135/M140) and the rears are holding up very well.
Probably done around 3500 miles on them now.
My car is a 2017 Shadow Edition and has a full Akrapovic exhaust system including their sport cat. It has been remapped by Litchfield to 450hp.
They also fitted a Quaife ATB diff, M4 lower control arms and the rear underbody brace from the 3 door M140.
Other than that the car is standard, with the standard springs and Adaptive dampers.
Three years on and I still absolutely love the car and will be keeping it for many more years!
