Always interesting watching Ajax - they never allowed players any time to get settled on the ball. Also with Gazza he did well up front (aside from red card of course), I felt Ajax got away with too many bad (ish) tackles on him and that's probably what defines a forward, they have to take it and get up and take it again...
Ajax are certainly not my favourite team - they continually used their hands, elbows and other parts of their anatomy to irritate the opposition and yet when they got the same back in return reacted badly. You do wonder how much research they do on the match referees because some referees would've been a lot more consistent. You can see why the Italian teams generally have no trouble with them - just 'overreact' when they use their hands/elbows. That aside 'pressing' football does work well, I suppose the point of when pressing becomes generally irritating is what makes them less of an attraction. Not so much 'the pressing game' as 'the irritating game'...
