- Mistletoe - Viscum album
Mistletoe, which blooms between February and April, reproduces by spreading its seeds when birds defecate on other trees, after eating its pearly juicy and sticky fruit. In other words, even if mistletoe damages the tree it lives on in the long run, it still acts as a food source for other tree-dwelling creatures, especially birds. The juniper tree specifically uses the thrush to disperse its seeds, but also cooperates with mistletoe. By taking advantage of the mistletoe living on the juniper attracting birds, it ensures that its own fruits are eaten together with the mistletoe fruits. This means that both species can spread their seeds together, which leads to "biodiversity."
