    It is always good to know where to look when getting fault codes on your motorcycle. So thanks for this useful information.
    My FZ6 S2 is built in 2008 with 27,000 Km on the odometer and bought it from the first owner. I use the bike every day to drive to work and to tour in my spare time. Have a nice day and drive safe.

    When installing additional electrical appliances like heated grips or phone charger i always use a 12V relay, that just cuts the power off when the ignition is turned off. You would get them for 3 Euros on ebay. They prevent your battery from being drained.

    Don’t use any of those phone chargers connected for the bike battery. There’s so many portable chargers now.
    Thanks for the vid.

    The FZ6 Engine Control Unit loves to throw out spurious fault codes when the battery gets low and has been the result of more Crankshaft Position Sensors being checked (fault code 12) or even replaced unnecessarily than anything else!
    If you can, get an Optimate or other battery tender which will greatly help keep the battery in good condition, although even that will have difficulties with a battery that's over about 5 years old.
    It's a good idea to use a multimeter to check the output of your Regulator/ Rectifier and Alternator because if either of those is faulty they can kill a good battery by giving too little (or too much) power.
    Also you can buy a Drop Tester from eBay or similar for around £20 which is a good way of seeing if the battery has dropped a cell and letting you know if it needs replacing.
    Finally don't forget that a brand new battery can be duff as I found when I replaced one and then still had problems starting!
    PS You can clear the old fault codes by using setting 62 in Diagnostic Mode.

      Awesome thanks very much. I’ll definitely be getting some tools to test the charging system in the ways you described. I feel it was too easy of a fix on this occasion... worth double checking. Thanks for the comments and advice 👍

    Love/loved my fz6 S2. Done 53k on it now and the last 6 months I have had nothing but electrical issues from stator, rectifier, fuel pump, immobilizer and coil packs.... Mechanically brilliant suspension and brakes are perfect just got he age where wires get a bit mardy...... Good video tho keep going.

    • @FabMotorbikes
      @FabMotorbikes  3 года назад +1

      I feel the same way about the bike. Absolutely love it. But it is entirely possible that it’s just getting to that age where wiring/electrics could start becoming and issue. Thanks very much, glad you enjoyed the video. I plan to do some more electrical tests once I have the tools fo it 👍👍

    I have same the exact same bike. Had a new battery put in 6 months ago, left the bike outside untouched for a month and voltage dropped to about 10v (from the dash diagnostic), tested with a voltmeter and it’s about 11v. Anyway I whipped it out, plugged in on a trickle charger for about 6 hours, now it’s back up to 13v. Let’s hope it stays that way!

    • @FabMotorbikes
      @FabMotorbikes  2 года назад

      Good luck! Hope all runs well 👍. I ended up doing some more intensive testing on the stator and regulator rectifier but they were fine (I have videos on that if you’re interested). So far the new battery has fixed it though.
      Ride safe. And enjoy that awesome bike! 😆

      @@FabMotorbikes just an update, ran the bike a few times since and got error 46, engine light on. Then all dash display gone, bike stutters and stops. Luckily both times I was close enough to push it home. I’ve replaced the rectifier months before thinking it was that, now I’m thinking I might need a new battery!

    Had the same with my fz6 was the rectifier that was bad. Get a voltage meter and check the stator and rectifier. Fault 12 is crank shaft position sensor

    • @FabMotorbikes
      @FabMotorbikes  3 года назад

      It depends if you have later s2 version. Which was introduced around 2007. One of the easiest way to tell is if you have a helmet lock? This should have a key slot and should be next to the key slot that releases your seat.
      Otherwise, I would always recommend inputting the year of your bike on the website you are purchasing from.
      Hope that helps. Let’s me know if you have any more questions 👍
