I remember partying at the club on my one day off as an Army Drill Instructor training brand new privates in Basic Training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina in 1983 when this jam came out. You don't find great music like this these days to dance to without a bunch of cursing or ripping/sampling someone else's beats. People made original music back then. Music is so sad these days due to a real lack of talent.

On this day in 1983 {July 2nd} Lakeside performed "Raid" on the nationally syndicated television program, 'Soul Train'...
At the time the song was at #43 on Billboard's Hot Soul Singles chart, six weeks earlier it had peaked at #8 {for 2 weeks}...
And on the same 'Soul Train' show they also performed "Turn Up The Music", it reached #38 on the Hot Soul Singles chart later in 1983...
Between 1978 and 1990 the Dayton, Ohio funk band had seventeen records on the Hot Soul Singles chart, five made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, "Fantastic Voyage", for two weeks on January 25th, 1981...
Besides the above two records, their three other Top 10 records on the Hot Soul Singles chart were "It's All The Way Live - Part One" {#4 in 1978}, "I Want To Hold Your Hand" {#5 in 1982}, and "Outrageous" {#7 in 1984}...
