And what was not mentioned but is very important is chain line. You might have redundant gears on a 2x, but will have a better chain line than a 1x..if you are going for chain efficiency and reduced chain wear, chain line is a big consideration.
I ride Sram 1x (48) woth Rotor 11-36. This is a great setup for me! But if I am doing races like Norseman or IM Nice, would it be better to change to 50/37 and 10-28 just for those races?
The chains most vulnerable position to fall off is in the high gears. So, when descending in rough mountainous terrain, I put it in my lower gears to tension the chain more. Works for me.
Getting speed wobble on my q r cd 0.1 with 23 mm tires front and back have beyond aero rims only get the wobble on high speed down hill any ideas to eliminate this?
Check to make sure you headset is tight and properly adjusted. Most speed wobbles come from a loose headset. The aero rim can also cause a wobble at high speed but it would only happen in certain wind conditions.
1x is way better but please don't tell that to 2x purists! They start foaming at the mouth and with veins popping on their foreheads trying to explain why their shitty 2x bikes are better due to marginal efficiency gains that their flimsy legs never notice, it's really annoying and pathetic

Chainline will always be better with 2x since you can choose the better chainline of multiple versions of same/similar ratios.
I love 1X on my Dimond. Aero gains! Simple, clean, and fast. However 50x34 on gravel gives me the climbing gears I need when 5 or 6 hours in. 😅
very comprehensive video, thanks TJ ⚙
What are your views on oval Chainring like QXL and Osymmetric?
If only srams TT shifters were as nice as Shimano. Also more Bill Murray references please haha

Planning to buy a 1x drivetrain. The chain falling off is what makes me not buying one

I don’t want to ride my bike… wanna ride a dimond
I have Sram but Shimano chains are better and 10 tooth makes no sense. Bigger is better
Get a nice waxed chain and your drive train friction is minimal even with a 10 tooth cog. But yes, the factory Shimano chains are faster.
to much math!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
