I think you're forgetting something VERY important about Mario Tennis: It has Waluigi. Waluigi alone is going to drive sales. All we need is Waluigi. Waluigi, our divine prince.
I wholeheartedly agree with your rant. I HATE the current mentality of the internet--that rumor = fact. It's relieving to hear someone else who agrees, however unpopular it may be. Personally I think Nintendo's holiday title will be Metroid, with Pokemon being held off until next year. As always, though, if I'm wrong, I'll be just as happy as if I were right. It's nice to finally be a Nintendo fan and look forward to not knowing what's next, instead of twiddling our thumbs for months between releases and announcements.
SkulShurtugalTCG I feel that the holidays is way too soon for Metroid Prime 4. Development was just announced in E3 last year and no information was given since. We don’t even know how far the game is into development or if development even began before the announcement. I think Smash Bros Brawl was announced (just the announcement, not the trailer) before Sakurai even agreed to work on a third Smash game. I can see it coming out summer or holiday 2019, but not this year. It feels too soon
"There isnt going to be a big direct this month, all of your predictions are based on inconsistencies" "Nintendo direct comes out March 8th" "I spoke too soon."
Speaking on the end: I never assumed we'd get a direct so soon, but I do hope a direct happens in either March or April. I don't want to wait until e3 honestly. XD
Nintendo tends to build their stuff to be pretty tanky. You generally have to try pretty hard to do permanent damage to their products. I've dropped more than enough handhelds over the years to feel quite sure about this.
Knowing Nintendo's history with hardware durability (they designed the 3DS knowing kids were going to drop it), the Switch is probably a safer object to hand off to a kid of that age than an iPad mini.
Raymond McFarlane Labo is only a system seller if it goes viral and becomes a huge toy and a gift you just can’t find (though with Nintendo they sell 2 units and you can’t find them... huh)
Hey Arlo, just wanted to say I found your channel recently and I’ve binge watched all your videos. The way you analyze and explain your opinions is great, and your editing is superb. Keep up the great work. :)
For me this year would be perfect if they announce smash, Mario odyssey new kingdom dlc (Luigi’s balloon world is still amazing), and Animal crossing (with the mayoral system). VC would be a nice touch but for me I don’t really need it as I already got most the games I want like sm64. Melee, sunshine, the og animal crossing, and double dash are the only ones I want (notice a pattern there? *Hint Hint*)
I can see what you mean, especially compared to 2017 but god am I not FUCKED for Aces and Kirby. I'm also a bit interested in Tropical Freeze. I never got it before because I never really was crazy about DK, but after seeing a ton of videos praising the level design and polish, I'm thinking about it. "Knock knock" "who's there?" "lettuce" "lettuce who?" "lettuce in and you'll find out!"
Salmence100 Tropical Freeze. You should. I'm going to make a bold claim and say it's probably the best 2D platformer Nintendo ever made. If you are into 2D platformers that is.
Yeah, if you've never play DK Tropical Freeze do yourself the favor. Every single level has some really creative theme and mechanic that they expertly build on the entire time, not to mention, the soundtrack is unprecedented. I've never seen one game produce so many tracks that I actively listen to all the time. Seriously, it's a GOD tier game and was completely underrated and misunderstood as "just another Donkey Kong game."
You're forgetting that DKC Returns sold 6 million copies on the Wii alone. So Tropical Freeze wouldn't struggle because of a niche audience. Especially with a marketable name, and you know, being great. Also, the Wii U didn't sell very well, so the low sales of Wii U games doesn't prove much to how it's gonna sell on Switch.
It does when you see this article: comicbook.com/gaming/2018/02/19/bayonetta-2-sold-slightly-less-nintendo-switch-wii-u/ Don't bank on just because it's on Switch it'll sell more, MK 8 is still higher on Wii U than Switch!
Funny how your source only talks about Bayonetta 2, and even indicates it should be taken with a grain of salt for various reasons, and you then claim the same thing is true for MK 8 without any source to support it. After checking it, MK 8 for Switch got about 1 million sales less than MK 8 for Wii U. In less than a quarter of the time. New Switch owners that will definitely come with the upcoming Pokémon game and maybe even with Metroid Prime 4 and possibly (though not very likely, certainly not soon) Smash 5, and many of them will also get games like MK 8 so they can play them with their friends.
His point was never that Tropical Freeze won't sell well, because it absolutely will. I'm damn excited for it as I'm a big fan of Donkey Kong (as Arlo is too, or at least hinted at), but it's not the game on it's own that's the issue. His point was that it's not going to be a console seller - meaning this isn't going to be a title that makes people say 'well, I never picked up a Switch before, but this is a game changer'.
Pokemon 2018 would be a mistake. Sun and Moon was not nearly as polished as it should have been due to wanting to push for a 20th anniversary release, and unfortunately the Ultra versions introduced their own set of problems while barely addressing the flaws of SM.
Shnarfbird Could you explain your points a bit? Not saying I disagree yet I just can’t really think of any examples of how SM was “not nearly as polished as it should have been”
Diamond and Pearl took about two years from the launch of the DS and were extremely non-optimized for the hardware and had huge design flaws across almost all aspects of the games (it really took until Platinum for them to get Sinnoh right, and even then that game's weakest elements are holdovers from D/P). This would be a _slightly_ faster release than those games, which is a bad sign. Though they'd probably not mess it up _as badly_ this time, they'd probably make a lot of the same mistakes.
Frame rate drops were pretty bad in double battles, the overall length of the game was pretty small if you trimmed out the constant cut scenes, and Z-moves were a shallow battle mechanic compared to the updates and additions of the past games.
The thing is Zelda and Mario will continue to sell systems on their own for several more months. Especially with a solid lineup of games like they have already. There are also a solid amount of great indie games and Third Party titles. In the end Nintendo doesn’t have to gain momentum in the first half of 2018. They just have to try and maintain the insane amount of momentum they already gathered in 2017.
Yes. We. do. Not. Need. 3000. Good. Games. Every. 5. Seconds. There will be plenty of great releases this year apart from what's already released. We had AWESOME announcements already, and we have AT LEAST 1 major upcoming release
ThatGamingShow 1 major upcoming release sounds.. Dissapointing! The point is that there are no system sellers, not that there is no great games. Mario maker remake or 2.0 would for example be a system seller.
ThatGamingShow Thank you for being rational. If Nintendo could drop a BOTW game every month none of them would be BOTW level games or they'd push both Microsoft and Sony completely out of the gaming market. I think the problem with the Switch is a retroactive one. You get full AAA games anytime anywhere however, you're finishing your games at a much faster rate because they're constantly available. PS4-PC-Xbone you have to make time for Switch puts your time 1st.
Apart from that, Nintendo consoles, since Wii and more so now than ever, are just companion consoles, at best. Something you buy for a few good games, but pair it with a PS4 so you regularly get awesome titles that Nintendo doesn't... Until 4 or 5 years later, like Skyrim, lol.
I agree! With a big year as 2017, we need a smaller one after that to balance things out. However, the first half of the year is kind of Wii U port heavy though. 2018 itself would be a weaker year for Nintendo that was saved by one and only one thing; Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. If they had announced that earlier in the year, this conversation wouldn't exist. As yes, we did get a Pokémon game on Nintendo Switch, but it a weird reimagening of Pokémon Yellow instead of proper Gen 8 games. It was honestly fine, but didn't set the world on fire as much as maybe The Pokémon Company was expecting. 12:28 This would age awfully though. While your 100% right, we did get the next big Direct around 2 weeks after this video was posted and it was one of the best ones ever. Oof!
I mean, he was right. It didn't come in 20 days, it took more than a month at least. "Why am I getting so many tweets telling me I was wrong about this Nintendo Direct? I said I fully expected something for March or April. I just said the whole 20-day thing was silly, and I was right--it's been nearly two months since the mini."- arlo on twitter.
King Daniel The Dandy yeah he should of mentioned that. We just know literally nothing about it and this video was mostly focused on first half and it doesn’t look like it’s happening that early so
I'm interested in it. I think they can do a nice reveal at E3, and give us a release date + detailed gameplay at Gamescom. Or, if there's a direct earlier they could reveal it then and just slid another trailer in the E3 presentation.
+Kevin Thomas Same! I really want to get into Dragon Quest without buying the older ones so I'm extremely excited for DQXI, specifically for Switch. Pokémon is gonna be awesome! Like always. I'm certain it will release this year judging by the guy who works at Game Freak from last year's E3. He said *"it may not come out until more than a year"* and by the time it's November & December it will have gone 1 year and 5-6 months since then. Yeah, it's coming this year. Fire Emblem I'm extremely excited about. Played the ones on my 3DS and it quickly turned into a franchise I want to always follow since then. Tales of is also a huge franchise I'm looking forward for Switch this year. Tales of Berseria is SO GOOOOOD!!!!! Omg. I want more games on Switch than I have ever wanted on any PS, Xbox, earlier Nintendo systems and PC. I have a list of 30+ games I want on Switch this year and it continues to grow. It's amazing haha, can't afford it though.
Wow I love Fire Emblem and COMPLETELY forgot its coming out this year. Really wish Nintendo would give us anything on it. Hell I’d be satisfied for now with a single screenshot.
Kirby is a bigger deal than i think your making it. Being the first new game of this year and it has a lot of people hyped, even non Kirby fans are giving the game a try.
And I did watch the video and I agree with you for the most part. I am a huge Kirby fan, but I like the underdog of Nintendo. He’s been pushed t the front as one of Nintendo’s most recognizable franchises, but that’s mostly because he appeals to a lot of people. He doesn’t sell consoles, but he pleases the fans
All I’m saying is that the Wii U sold poorly with both Smash and a Mario Kart and didn’t have a main line Kirby game, but the 3DS and now Switch have main line Kirby entries and sell beyond expectations. I think you see what people care about most
How do you know that a lot of non Kirby fans try it? The game isn't even out yet. Honestly haven't read about anyone beeing hyped about it. Interested at best.
I think the Wii U sold poorly due to a whole lot of reasons and you definitely can't boil it down to the lack of a main line Kirby game. I even thought it had one if I'm not mistaken? Confusing marketing, a hardware that didn't really commit to an idea and the lack of system selling games are the main reason behind it. I do not think Kirby is a system seller franchise. Games like Pokemon, Mario, Mario Kart and Zelda are.
20XSteveX08 It was a joke dude, also there were no main line games on Wii U, only a sequel to Canvas Couse a spin-off entry from the DS. I was just pointing out that the Wii U did poorly and happened to not have a Kirby game that was a mainline title. If we want to extend this theory though, the GameCube wasn’t the biggest hit, and it didn’t have a mainline entry either
The majority of the Nintendo Switch owners never had a Wii U, there is more people who owns a Switch that has either a Playstation 4 or an XBOX One. And I am sure that Nintendo knows this...
I never said that, I said there are more people who owns a Switch and a Playstation 4/Xbox one than there is people who owns or has owned a Wii U and also a Switch. There is only 5 percent about the Switch owners that doesn't own another gaming console than the Switch. The most common gaming system by Switch owners was a PC followed by the 3DS. Wii U was on the last place... Why all ports are justified cause most people never played them.
Lol when you bought a Wii U when the switch came out and then waited until Christmas so you could get all the money for a Wii U and Odyssey Collecting baybee👌🏻
While I did think that the mini direct to big one was garbage, I was still legitimately expecting one today, because of Pokemon Day... The Pokemon Company really hyped up this one, and all we got was some snapchat filters, some amazon echo thing, and Pokemon: I Choose You for free, (Which may be exciting for some, but i've personally already watched it)...
People always used to tell me on Miiiverse, that when Smash 4 came out WiiU sales would skyrocket.....and they didn't. I really do believe it appeals to Nintendo fans, smash doesn't really appeal to the wider gaming community.
If Smash port is release on 2018 ( most probable ) . It will be with or a bit later than the paid online service is released . I think it is a late September tittle . Close enough to Xmas . But not close to cannibalize any late October / November tittle .
I'm still not convinced that pokemon is coming this year. Maybe holiday 2019? It takes like a year for a pokemon ds game to be made so stating they want to make the switch game bigger and better I'd imagine it'd be 2 years. Also I think nintendo would be bold enough to end this year with a smash port (deluxe?) Since the community has been clamouring for it for so long. Also animal crossing could be this year, like it's been 5 years
The game was developed parallel to Sun and Moon, so it's already BEEN at least 2 years. I really would like to see it take a bit longer (Holiday 2019 is a bit more my aesthetic too) so they have time to polish things up but PokéSwitch 2018 is actually more feasible than you'd think.
Sun/Moon were supposed to be the final 3DS games, but they extended it after the Go hype, meaning that they likely started development on Switch's version in 2016, especially since they said Ultra was a different group than those who work on mainline games.
If the game was on development since 2016 . It would have a better E3 announcement that a guy telling the game exists . I think the game was only on very early character and story design on June 2017 . If this is true . The game won't be Gold until late Summer 2019 .
Mario and Rabbids was rumored around the time Switch was launched . But most thought it was a very ridicule idea . Doom was a game that only required around 6 months ( 1 year tops ) to port .
"If Mario, Zelda and Splatoon didn't sway you to get a switch last year" ...dude...seriously...two of those got game of the years. Its not a question, its a darn fact!!!
those are normal system sellers, Mario=Nintendo system seller, always has, always will. These new games coming out aren't system sellers, that's why Nintendo won't bundle them. They DID bundle Odyssey, because again, it's a system seller, Mario has been selling Nintendo systems since 1985. Their IP is so strong, their lowest selling profitable system (I know you're going to argue Wii U wasn't profitable so here www.dailygadgetry.com/wii-u-finally-profitable-nintendo/4637) their lowest selling profitable system outsold everything Sega ever did, except the Genesis! There are more Wii U's than there are Master System's. More Wii U's than Saturn's. More Wii U's than Dreamcast's. More Wii U's than Game Gear's. More Wii U's than Nomad's. That means Sega has nothing but failures and one success. Or, in the truth, the Wii U, like the GameCube, is a disappointment, not a failure, because like GameCube it was profitable in its short life.
Zelda can be played on WiiU- a cheaper alternative- and Mario could've been watched on RUclips if that's more your cup of tea. Being a great game doesn't equal sales
they won't announce a Switch one until the 3DS one has surpassed all prior games in the series. They're intent on making that the highest selling game in the series, that's why they gave it that massive update in 2016, that's why they're staying so silent on the franchise even though the mobile app is drawing in people who've never played it before, but it's going to cost them. Waiting like this means over time they're going to lose those people who were hyped, but as the hype goes down the popularity goes with it- look at Sun/Moon and compare it to Ultra. Ultra wasn't even half that of the predecessor, because the Go hype died down by the time it came out. The same will happen with Animal Crossing, they'll wait so long the hype will die down. Sure, it'll get off to a roaring start, and Nintendo will say it's due to mobile, but they'll totally ignore that they've starved mainline fans of it for the last 6 years! The lifetime sales of it on Switch will easily top Wii or GameCube, and Nintendo will tout that as success, but it's going to fall short of 3DS's lifetime sales due to how many are converting to 3DS's game now, and not moving on. That happens, not everyone who has the prior game will continue on with the next, sequels usually drop in sales, rarely do they keep increasing, and this will have that issue, AC:Switch will be the highest selling of the home games, but the lowest selling of the portable games- mark my words right now, that will happen!
If I haven't said it before in the comments section, your analysis is what keeps me coming back to this channel Arlo. That, and the confirmation I should play Tropical Freeze for my first time...on the Switch.
If I’m gonna be honest, I feel like Kirby has been gaining a bigger following after the 3DS ones, so Star Allies is gonna sell a lot. I already pre-ordered it so Nintendo already has my money! 🙃
Acctualy Jnaejnae, but I am a diehard Kirby fan and am trying to play them all. I understand you concerns, but those are your opinions, now go blow off your cash on a pre-order for the next F-zero game. (There is actually a website for that...) I have loved Kirby for YEARS and have never been disappointed. Also, you can’t get your cash back for cancelling pre-orders on Amazon. Even if I did not pre-order it, Star Allies would be a day 1 but anyway. If I’m being honest, this is my 3rd pre-order EVER, so this is still fairly new. I’m only 12 after all.
I own a Wii U and DKC: Tropical Freeze and I am still picking up the port. The soundtracks to the series has always been a favorite and having it on the Switch to have it on the go with the game is a highlight.
But with Cardboard they could also have you buy additional Labo Constructs to progress the Story! Its like on Disc DLC... but with Cardboard. And more expensive than Amibo.
And then a direct is announced for tomorrow XD. Not 20 days later, but I figured another one was coming before e3, since there is always one before e3.
Honestly, I'm fine with this release schedule for 2018. Even though there's only three games I'm looking forward to in early 2018, they are ones I'm really excited for. Kirby Star Allies looks amazing, Mario Tennis Aces looks cool (I'll wait to see the reviews of it are like tho, as I don't want another Mario Tennis Ultra Smash), and Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is a game I'm really looking forward to, as I didn't buy it (even though I had a Wii U...). The Dlc for Mario + Rabbids will also keep me occupied as well, and I also have Super Meat Boy and Celeste to finish at some point to. Overall, I'm thankful for the lighter schedule, especially seeing as I have important exams to do in the summer.
I did believe the 20-days frame thing. In fact, I was sure of it. Glad to see you went out of your way to give accurate information, thank you very much.
I'm not certain on Pokemon coming this year. Pokemon "generations" usually last about 3-4 years, the last two taking 3 years. Diamond and Pearl? 2006. BW? 2010 (in japan). XY? 2013. and Sun and Moon released in 2016. Now, since Ultra Sun and Moon were just enchanced games with a changed (arguably for the worse grumble grumble) story that reused the region and a lot of assets, that coooould open up the change of a new title coming sooner than we think, but the other factor in this theory is the anime. The anime's season usually runs for the same time as the generation it's based off of, and last i watched (which was a few months ago so there's been link 10 episodes since then), Ash was about halfway through his island challenge. With the anime's pacing I don't expect him to have finished before the end of the year. But who knows? They could get the game out this year, and either finish the anime's season quickly or let it run its course while something completely off the wall happens. I could be completely wrong. But as a longtime pokemon fan who had a bit more gripes with the last few games than i was happy with, I'd be fine with them taking their time on this one, for at least another year. Edit: oh, and: knock-knock. who's there? Wii U. Wii U who? Exactly!
MusicalityMix eh, 5th gen was really short, so I could see gen 7 being short as well. Both games were the last gen on the system, and on dying hardware, so it makes sense to jump ship on a generation earlier on, in that case.
At the same time, new gen Pokemon games usually take at least 9 months to promote going off X and Y and Sun and Moon. If Game Freak's seriously planning a new game for this year that's going to be as much of a departure as people are anticipating, they'd need to make some big announcements very very soon.
I get the feeling that Metroid Prime 4 is this year's big game. Mostly because there's _actual evidence_ that it might release this year. Tanabe said way back in mid-2015 that Prime 4 was going to end up on the NX because it would take about 3 years to develop and the NX was going to be announced and released before that time. In the _exact same interview_ he confirms he's been working on the story already, for some time, and has a few gameplay elements and ideas written out already.
Don't forget, a main series Fire Emblem for switch is supposedly releasing this year too! FE isn't a traditionally huge franchise for sales, but it does well and has a devoted fan base that is almost guaranteed to make the move to switch if they haven't already.
Etikas Laptop so pretty much with what happened with Pokémon stars and how a lot of people were dumb enough to fall for that rumor and we’re blaming Nintendo for some reason
Matthew Hutchinson by way too much info I think you mean very little. All that is coming out for the fall that’s it anyone can say that. Plus why is Rodgers credible if she has been wrong multiple times
Labo will be so successful! I mean there is more Labo that Nintendo didn't even reveal yet like the camera,Driving wheel, and who knows maybe even a Labo Jetpack? Please Nintendo make it happen!
I don’t care one way or another if people buy the switch or not, I’m a very casual player that still hasn’t fully finished Zelda and still hasn’t played through Mario. HOWEVER, I wouldn’t underestimate the idea of having new versions of retro classics like Donkey Kong, Sonic or Kirby on a portable console. That’s literally the number 1 reason I (mid 30 guy) bought the switch in the first place. Retro is real!
Seriously. Hybrid handheld/console with built-in multiplayer support, integrated sharing and straightforward UI > dated-on-release tech with an awkward joystick tablet that can't communicate through walls. About the only reason I even keep my WiiU is Netflix and Wii Mode homebrew.
But I do have a feeling it won't release in the first half of 2018 like they said. Which is a little disappointing, but fine by me, since that means they are taking the time they need to optimize and polish as much as possible.
I love watching these videos a few months later and know there are at least 2 system sellers this Christmas: Pokemon Let's Go and Super Smash. Can't wait until E3 next week.
Yup, and another thing they're screwing up is no remakes/new models for 2018. They're ignoring the fact that the 3DS only stayed relevant, because the following year the XL came out, the year after that the budget 2DS, a couple years later the New and New XL, and a year after that the New 2DS. This is going to hurt them not giving consumers multiple price options, especially if they think parents are going to pay $400 just so their kid can play with cardboard!
Messing up? Please explain to me what they're messing up on (games-wise. They're messing up on a lot of other things like RUclips policies and Switch features).
Olimar103 People predicted the Direct would come within 20 days of the Mini. The March 8th Direct was just the next one, because there's always another one.
Olimar103: Uh, no. No they weren't. They were saying *within 20 days*. The March direct was a solid 2 months after the January mini. That's way more than 20 days. So everyone claiming that was dead wrong.
A knock-knock joke can be made with ease

I think you're forgetting something VERY important about Mario Tennis:
It has Waluigi.
Waluigi alone is going to drive sales.
All we need is Waluigi.
Waluigi, our divine prince.
Waluigi is our Jesus
BlackWingNB Your a pervert (Don't ask why). Mario,Luigi,Peach, Yoshi, Toad are more important characters!
Praise be unto Wah.
BlackWingNB Couldn't agree more
Waluigi is number 1
I wholeheartedly agree with your rant. I HATE the current mentality of the internet--that rumor = fact. It's relieving to hear someone else who agrees, however unpopular it may be.
Personally I think Nintendo's holiday title will be Metroid, with Pokemon being held off until next year. As always, though, if I'm wrong, I'll be just as happy as if I were right. It's nice to finally be a Nintendo fan and look forward to not knowing what's next, instead of twiddling our thumbs for months between releases and announcements.
SkulShurtugalTCG yeah idk what’s going to come but I’ll just wait and see...I’m excited for Kirby though....btw love your videos ☺️👍🏻
wtf is Metro is
SkulShurtugalTCG i feel that metriod will need alot more time to come out because its gonna be a big game so im feeling more late 2019
I think you mean Metroid, not "Metro is"
"There isnt going to be a big direct this month, all of your predictions are based on inconsistencies"
"Nintendo direct comes out March 8th"
"I spoke too soon."
The MLP Connoisseur Technincally, the video came out on February. Also, he was referring to the whole "within 20 days after the Mini Direct" thing.
Just by skimming the comments for a few seconds I've got the impression that the "commented without watching" is going to be strong with this one. XP
Arlo true
You know what they may announce as the big Xmas game for switch...
Sticker Star 2!!!!
Arlo Just look for the knock knock jokes with vegetables ;)
Arlo Knock knock
Who’s there?
Squash.
Squash who?
Bless you!
Arlo No shit. Especially when they get triggered by a shot thumbnail... and i've been guilty of that too...
I just think of the day we can play *_Animal Crossing_* on the _Switch_
Onlime Yes please!
Nice cave story pp btw
Fruity Pebbles
Thanks ^^
Onlime smash first tho, no smash 4 on switch tho
Honestly I'm expecting Animal Crossing to be the big Christmas game and for Pokemon to come out in March
Fuck. I sure hope the series isn't dead.
Speaking on the end: I never assumed we'd get a direct so soon, but I do hope a direct happens in either March or April. I don't want to wait until e3 honestly. XD
I really don't want to wait till e3 either
couldnt agree more
Toon Linkman maybe who know except Nintendo
I think the “big direct” we were supposed to get ended up being labo
It might be about the star allies demo and more
Only 5 days later and this video is dated
you spoke too soon
too soon
It was still past 20 days lol
Labo is a system seller as parents will have to buy another switch when the kids step on the first one.
Fair enough, I'm child free so have no frame of reference. Honestly upon seeing the fishing game, it looked like that was nintendos plan.
My gameboy lasted me 23 years though it was never in a box attached to a tripwire. I guess I just assume the worst in any company.
Raymond McFarlane Labo is only a system seller if it goes viral and becomes a huge toy and a gift you just can’t find (though with Nintendo they sell 2 units and you can’t find them... huh)
Knock Knock
Who's there?
Beets!
Beets who?
Beets me.
Plot twist: Mario Tennis Aces rivals The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild in terms of quality.
thebahooplamaster ur not funny at all
You mean Kirby: Star Allies.
WARNING ⚠️
YOU ARE VERY CLOSE TO ATTRACTING BUTT HURT FANBOYS
WARNING ⚠️
thebahooplamaster That would be awesome. I'd love to have the two best quality games of all time on the Switch.
The moment we saw those dapper hair cuts we knew it would be the game that got the Switch into the billion sales level
First half might not be perfect, but they just knocked the later half of 2018 right outta the park.
“If Zelda or Mario or Splatoon didn’t win you over..”
Arlo you are speaking in such STRANGE alien tongues!!
With the Free Odyssey update, Nintendo's first half is already fricken great
Luigi's balloon world is neat... But it wasn't super special.
Egg Benedict Yeah... but it's too much fun!
Dino Reviews Y'all are such fanboys..
Egg Benedict it was honestly amazing
Karnage Fails yas queen
This video's title sounds like a "Nintendo-worriers anonymous" meeting, lol
I think that ends up being a good portion of Arlo's fanbase, myself included, lmao.
Also, neat to see you on an Arlo video!

"Well into February". It's going to be March in 2 days.
Hey Arlo, just wanted to say I found your channel recently and I’ve binge watched all your videos. The way you analyze and explain your opinions is great, and your editing is superb. Keep up the great work. :)
Knock knock.
Who's there?
Lettuce.
Lettuce who?
Lettuce wait til e3 at least before we say Nintendo has a bad 2018 planned.
But E3 is already pretty much halfway through the year. We should at least get a spring direct or something before then. Oh and nice joke ;D

I can see what you mean, especially compared to 2017
but god am I not FUCKED for Aces and Kirby. I'm also a bit interested in Tropical Freeze. I never got it before because I never really was crazy about DK, but after seeing a ton of videos praising the level design and polish, I'm thinking about it.
"Knock knock"
"who's there?"
"lettuce"
"lettuce who?"
"lettuce in and you'll find out!"
Classic joke 10/9
Tropical Freeze is a Fantastic game. I'm actually gonna buy it again on switch.
Oh hey Salamence. I loved your Kaizo 64 vids :)
It does when you see this article: comicbook.com/gaming/2018/02/19/bayonetta-2-sold-slightly-less-nintendo-switch-wii-u/
Don't bank on just because it's on Switch it'll sell more, MK 8 is still higher on Wii U than Switch!
Jack Son MK8 is still higher on Wii U because that version's been out for 4 years.
Jack Son well mk8 now has 20 million sales u fool
Pokemon 2018 would be a mistake. Sun and Moon was not nearly as polished as it should have been due to wanting to push for a 20th anniversary release, and unfortunately the Ultra versions introduced their own set of problems while barely addressing the flaws of SM.
Shnarfbird Could you explain your points a bit? Not saying I disagree yet I just can’t really think of any examples of how SM was “not nearly as polished as it should have been”
Redd Knight10 yeh, I played it and it was amazing
Diamond and Pearl took about two years from the launch of the DS and were extremely non-optimized for the hardware and had huge design flaws across almost all aspects of the games (it really took until Platinum for them to get Sinnoh right, and even then that game's weakest elements are holdovers from D/P).
This would be a _slightly_ faster release than those games, which is a bad sign. Though they'd probably not mess it up _as badly_ this time, they'd probably make a lot of the same mistakes.
Redd Knight10 The only ones that come to mind immediately are unfinished areas and a very bare postgame.
Frame rate drops were pretty bad in double battles, the overall length of the game was pretty small if you trimmed out the constant cut scenes, and Z-moves were a shallow battle mechanic compared to the updates and additions of the past games.
I feel like everyone’s forgetting Fire Emblem is coming this year.
It's been about a year since it was revealed, but we've got exactly no other information since. I think Nintendo forgot they did.
If only we had something like a title...
Or a short trailer
Heck, even a screenshot would be nice...
If only...
G.M.L Productions but it’s warriors, not a true FE game, so it prob won’t sell as well as those games usually do.

Oh, hell yes. I loved Uprising, such a fun game. It would be great to have that online muliplayer mode on the Switch.
Uprising was just too damn good to not have a successor.
Why shouldn't you give rumors in a cornfield?

Wait a second.... Cocunuts aren't vegetables!
first watching this: "yeah, I guess we gotta wait till'' next year!"
Now watching: "Welllllllll...... ever heard of smash bros?"
ThatGamingShow
Thank you for being rational.
We dont but we need new big titles that arent ports after 3 months
The PS2 had 3000 great games coming every 5 minutes, so it couldn't hurt. Okay, that's an exaggeration, but still.
Today seemed prime for an Arlo video. Thank you, kind sir!
ok...
Oof!
Goddamn I really believed him. And just like that, bam! Direct baby!
Isaac Argesmith huh, I guess I didn’t really remember how long it’s been and what exactly he said. Yeah I guess you’re right
I wonder why no one ever speaks about fire emblem 2018
King Daniel The Dandy yeah he should of mentioned that. We just know literally nothing about it and this video was mostly focused on first half and it doesn’t look like it’s happening that early so
Yeah that's a really good one.
I think people don’t talk about it because we haven’t seen anything of it.
I'm interested in it. I think they can do a nice reveal at E3, and give us a release date + detailed gameplay at Gamescom. Or, if there's a direct earlier they could reveal it then and just slid another trailer in the E3 presentation.
You don't need to play Fire Emblem to be a Nintendo fan. Look at me. I've never played it.
Arlo announces he is a believer in the pokemon 2018 dream on #PokemonDay
Sigils, ETHEC. Groudonfags?
well into February, more like 2nd to last day of February
TheMighty TacoMan That's pretty "well in"
Also did you consider videos take like, time to make since recording
I mean all I want (want not demand) are Pokemon, Fire Emblem 2018 and Goddamn Dragon Quest XI!!!
Wow I love Fire Emblem and COMPLETELY forgot its
coming out this year. Really wish Nintendo would give us anything on it. Hell I’d be satisfied for now with a single screenshot.
I want FE news too ToT
100% what I think, that 3 games are the same I´m waiting for XD
+ReachStudioPro You really have to get into the other dragon quest games. If you like Fire Emblem, your going to LOVE them.

And I am sure that Nintendo knows this...
jesus barrera not really. it's more 50-50. and it's mostly becaude botw was on wii u as well so most wii u owners didn't jump the ship
Matthew Kordon i don't see anyone saying more people own a switch than ps4 and X box1 combined?? Where did you get that?
I never said that, I said there are more people who owns a Switch and a Playstation 4/Xbox one than there is people who owns or has owned a Wii U and also a Switch. There is only 5 percent about the Switch owners that doesn't own another gaming console than the Switch. The most common gaming system by Switch owners was a PC followed by the 3DS. Wii U was on the last place... Why all ports are justified cause most people never played them.
Yup, exactly right.
Lol when you bought a Wii U when the switch came out and then waited until Christmas so you could get all the money for a Wii U and Odyssey
Collecting baybee👌🏻
Ah, this was pre-smash. It's weird randomly watching these old videos sometimes.
March 8, 2018: SMASH FOR SWITCH CONFIRMED
While I did think that the mini direct to big one was garbage, I was still legitimately expecting one today, because of Pokemon Day... The Pokemon Company really hyped up this one, and all we got was some snapchat filters, some amazon echo thing, and Pokemon: I Choose You for free, (Which may be exciting for some, but i've personally already watched it)...
Let's find out who's your audience. You could create a RUclips survey on owning the systems. I'm the Switch user w/o Wii U
Also on team Switch w/o WiiU
Xuzon switch with wii u
Xuzon
Switch w Wii U
Switch who used to have a Wii U but now doesn't.
Switch w/o WiiU
Smash will never be a spring release. It's so much of a system seller, that it will always bolster the Christmas sales.
To be fair, so was breath of the wild, but then again the system also launched on the same day it did, and people were already buying it..
Mario Kart is on an equal playing field maybe even above, yet it usually releases in May or April
Brawl came out in like March 2008, so that one at least was a Spring release
Super Happy Corona Video Time~! Wait where did they mention that it was developed at the same time?
Sun/Moon were supposed to be the final 3DS games, but they extended it after the Go hype, meaning that they likely started development on Switch's version in 2016, especially since they said Ultra was a different group than those who work on mainline games.
it was revealed when they announced that Ultra Sun/Moon were the final 3DS main Pokemon games.
If the game was on development since 2016 . It would have a better E3 announcement that a guy telling the game exists . I think the game was only on very early character and story design on June 2017 . If this is true . The game won't be Gold until late Summer 2019 .
"Only a few months later."
Mario & Rabbids was released less than 2 months later.
And Doom was a surprise
Mario and Rabbids was rumored around the time Switch was launched . But most thought it was a very ridicule idea . Doom was a game that only required around 6 months ( 1 year tops ) to port .
"If Mario, Zelda and Splatoon didn't sway you to get a switch last year"
...dude...seriously...two of those got game of the years. Its not a question, its a darn fact!!!
TheDarkNeonHero this might come as a surprise, but maybe people have opinions that aren't easily swayed by awards and reviews
Most people who avoided those 2 avoided them to distance themselves from the bandwagon
those are normal system sellers, Mario=Nintendo system seller, always has, always will.
Being a great game doesn't equal sales
im so hype for LITTERALY EVERYTHING COMING
josh bellino then you better buy SMT V
a who
As long as we get a new Animal Crossing SOON...
I'll be fine...😐
they won't announce a Switch one until the 3DS one has surpassed all prior games in the series.
Walther Penne Smash in the past huh?
Please God no...I dont need that addiction again!
Walther Penne what were you saying it not being about smash and Luigi's Mansion. There is always a chance for Animal crossing
I’ve got an email for you.
Great vid, I think your thoughts are spot on. Hoping for more big games spread out over the year though!

If I’m gonna be honest, I feel like Kirby has been gaining a bigger following after the 3DS ones, so Star Allies is gonna sell a lot. I already pre-ordered it so Nintendo already has my money! 🙃
Mystic Bros. Doing the gaming industry a great deed...
Well exuuuuuse me, princess Jnaejnae. The launch is only in a few days so it’s really just like ordering a Japanese game and waiting for it to ship.
Good talk Jnaejnae. I would shake your hand, but this is the internet, we can’t acctualy shake hands
To be fair, pre-ordering japanese games is vastly safer than it is with western games.
I own a Wii U and DKC: Tropical Freeze and I am still picking up the port. The soundtracks to the series has always been a favorite and having it on the Switch to have it on the go with the game is a highlight.
I kind of believed you for a while, and I don't think I've ever been so glad to be wrong in my entire life.
Butternut squash? Yes please!
I dont think Pokemon will come yet. Propably next Year.
How about "Paper Mario: Cardbord World" instead? :D
im seeing alot of people with kermit profile pics recently
Momlob
It's going to be Paper Mario: Toiletpaper Trouble.
Paper Mario: Glitch Witch
Where they've made the game play around stuff that is usually considered glitches in most other video games.
But with Cardboard they could also have you buy additional Labo Constructs to progress the Story!
Its like on Disc DLC... but with Cardboard. And more expensive than Amibo.
Paper Mario: Labo Union
Get it because it's like a labor union? I'll shut up now.
I love it so much how you use Paper Mario TTYD music in the background
It gives me so many nostalgia feels while watching

I did believe the 20-days frame thing. In fact, I was sure of it. Glad to see you went out of your way to give accurate information, thank you very much.
Arlo, your videos are truly a cut above!
Edit: oh, and:
knock-knock.
who's there?
Wii U.
Wii U who?
I'm expecting March 2019 for Pokemon Switch. Closes out Nintendo's fiscal year on a note, much like the Switch launch did.
That's the logical answer but they really need to release it this year to keep the fans
I can't wait to buy Tropical Freeze again.
Hey Arlo, even tho I agreed with you on the mini-direct/direct subject, it looks like we were wrong AND I LOVE IT. DIRECT COMING MARCH 8TH BOIS
KayzokuGaming No, he meant that people believed the "big" Direct would come within 20 days after the Mini Direct
Daamn @Arlo you are very well done!, your details are extremely well done!!
Don't forget, a main series Fire Emblem for switch is supposedly releasing this year too! FE isn't a traditionally huge franchise for sales, but it does well and has a devoted fan base that is almost guaranteed to make the move to switch if they haven't already.
Yeah it is only February, so Smash for Switch could be announced later this year.
Tomsun 02 maybe but who knows when will it get released I’d say maybe in a year or two
I fully expect Smash 4 DX to be the September title. Emily Rogers has way too much info on the game for it to be coming out next year or later
Gamer Addy 99 yeah, but that won’t be released this year or release If labs sells badly
There is a saying that goes: The calm before the Storm. 'Nuff said!
Tidal Yacht End of the switch? You sir, are insane.
There’s no game Nintendo could have announced that would have sold me on the Wii U.The tech was lame and the Switch is just plain dope.
Seriously. Hybrid handheld/console with built-in multiplayer support, integrated sharing and straightforward UI > dated-on-release tech with an awkward joystick tablet that can't communicate through walls. About the only reason I even keep my WiiU is Netflix and Wii Mode homebrew.
Switch is also the 3DS's successor, it's why Pokemon is coming to it. It's literally the successor to BOTH Wii U AND 3DS, that's why it's "dope"
*Project Octopath* Game of 2018
Drewsefer89 oh god I'm so excited for it
Same
But I do have a feeling it won't release in the first half of 2018 like they said. Which is a little disappointing, but fine by me, since that means they are taking the time they need to optimize and polish as much as possible.
against monster hunter world? Not a chance
probably red dead redemption 2 but monster hunter should be up there
Knock knock
Who’s there?!?!
Cucumber!!!!
oh wait that’s a fruit
No, Gecko, cucumber is not an instrument.
Neither is butternut squash.
I love watching these videos a few months later and know there are at least 2 system sellers this Christmas: Pokemon Let's Go and Super Smash. Can't wait until E3 next week.
Coach was screaming at me for not getting under 6 minutes in the mile; but thats okay...
Nock nock, who's there? Vege-please don't make us do this again.
Haha direct is tomorrow
People need to stop making excuses for Nintendo or else they are going to keep messing up.
Jack Son This is a home console first and foremost. Making an "XL" or "mini" would be a giant middle finger to all previous Switch owners.
Messing up? Please explain to me what they're messing up on (games-wise. They're messing up on a lot of other things like RUclips policies and Switch features).
I've never heard Arlo laugh so much in a video.
Knock Knock
"Who's there?"
"Butternut Squash"
"Yes please!"
Andddddddddddddd there's a Direct tomorrow. Guess people were right about a Direct coming soon.
It's februrary
Yeah maybe some stuff won't come out or whatever is announced can't come out in June... relax. They know what they're doing.
