Hi Nick, nice to see this video. I'm one of your loyal customers. I have to chime in on copper foil for speaker cables since I made some of my own many years ago. I used foil from a Goertz air core inductor and created a cable using two runs of foil separated by polypropylene adhesive tape which had adhesive on both sides. The outsides of the cables were also done with polypropylene tape with single sided adhesive. So it was a tape, foil, tape, foil, tape sandwich. I sealed the edges with heat from a soldering gun but it wasn't the reliable seal that I had hoped for. This cable design was very low in series inductance and relatively high in shunt capacitance and that is a formula that tube amp output transformers work exceptionally well with. I loved the sound with those cables and they really looked great with shiny bright copper showing through the clear tape. After several years small leaks in the side edges became obvious and the cables slowly oxidized into an ugly brown mess that just didn't sound good anymore. Copper oxide is a very poor conductor and most of the signal flows on the surface of a cable (the skin effect). So it was sad to see them become useless objects. So Nick, are your foils coated with something like enamel or urethane? If not you are going down the wrong path. Once they oxidize they will be trash. You may want to reconsider or maybe soak the cotton and copper in lots of mineral oil.

      HI
Many thanks for your mail, we will look into a way of sealing them for version 2.

I made a set of speaker cables with mundorf 45mm width copper foil. I wrapped them with three layers of thin traditional Korean paper(Hanji) and finished them with 60mm 3M filament tape. I didn't use any plugs. Just cut both ends to the shape of spade connectors with a pair of scissors. The result is amazing. The sound is very comfortable to my ears and the stage is deep and wide. The best speaker cable I've ever used.

You made that look easy and enjoyable to do. I'm sure it will be neither if I do it.
