- This is one of my favorite song from the 300 Soundtrack. The music and how women sing it is really makes the audience, or me on this matter, can feel the sadness and the pain of whats going on.
This track is beautiful. My favourite from the 300 Soundtrack.

Don't argue about the origin of the song . The movie is for Greek Spartans . Is sad that you want to belong somewhere that you don't belong.
If you live here and your passionate about ancient Balkan history you won't just say that. The so called "Greek" Spartans wore not Greeks they wore Traci (the Traci wore a Bulgarian tribe living in today south Greece before the Greeks even have been on the peninsula)
Peter CoLD Why you still keep doing that when every historical evidence shows that Macedonia is Greek Spartans is Greek Athens is Greek etc. You Bulgarian Albanians and Skopje want to be a part of our history. You are Slavs which is nothing wrong with that but Bulgarian have been around since almost the rise of our Bisantine empire. Please stop saing "Macedonia is not greek " or "Spartans are Bulgarians " . Everyone knows they aren't . Everybody knows that you are wrong and to keep saying that make me cringe.

There is a Macedonian arrangement of the song, but it was not composed by a Macedonian composer. Truth is that it appears in folk song collections older than the Republic of Macedonia itself. In fact, the lyrics and melody to the song date as far back as the end of the Medieval ages which, of course, is well before the idea of independent Macedonia had even been conceived. Bulgarians had been, most likely, singing and passing this song on for centuries prior to the relatively recent modern versions of it, one of which is that by Aleksandar Sarievski. Those should be (more correctly) considered 'covers' of it, rather than original compositions.
I hear no Greek in it. So it cannot be Macedonian
The theme of this song is Bulgarian not Macedonian, Greek or whatever and it's more then a thousand years old Bulgarian folklore music.

The real story behind the film is about the Bulgarian warrior - Spartak, who fought for the freedom of the enslaved people of the Roman Empire and for the freedom of Bulgaria and the Bulgarian people.Spartans are original men. He was a prince of the Bulgarians, who was taken into slavery and lived in today's Bulgaria. The song is also Bulgarian.

This song is macedonian not bulgarian. This is just a bulgarian version of the song called "zajdi zajdi"
