Manitoulin Island is simply beautiful...but what I really love is the Native Indian culture and customs...I always get a sense of peace when visiting native lands. I need to come here for a visit!!!
Thank you so much for including Gordon's Park and our night sky in your video. So glad you enjoyed your stay with us, and hope you are able to come with your family again. We are excited to share this fabulous video on our facebook page, thank you!
I'm very happy to include your park. We had a blast exploring the night sky with your team. Thanks for sharing! Please make sure to tag us (@wanderingwagars) when you do.
if anyone reading this ever gets the chance, go to Manitoulin Island... it is Nature in a Most Epic display. The island has over 100 fresh water lakes on it, and lots of those lakes have islands within them. It is simply beautiful, save this video, lots of great info if you're planning trip. I used to own a lot in Gore Bay 30+ years ago. Thanks for sharing Wandering Wagars.
My happy spot! My Great, great grandfather was the lighthouse keeper on Narrow Island on the North Channel. My grandfather was the Post Master in Little Current for many years. I have much fondness for the island...
Walking from Mississagi Lighthouse east to where there's no one.................. that's my fave spot. My fam and I came across a completely clean deer skeleton there. No sound but the waves. That's tranquility and perfection.
I love travel destinations with a mix of nature and culture. The Manitoulin Island is defnitely one! I have to listen again to grasp all the world records. It sounds like one of those mind twisters.
I don't think that I have never heard of Manitoulin Island before and I love the unusual and unique aspect of it. Love to learn something new everyday. What an amazing island to explore. Looks like it offers different kinds of adventures. Very nice, interesting and informative video.
We've done the full trail hike at the Cup and Saucer several times including my favorite part the adventure trail. After that we head for ice cream at Three Cows and a Cone in Little Current. A great experience. My kids loved it ! And me too
@@WanderingWagars Watching the swing bridge enjoying an ice cream is the perfect reward for accomplishing the Cup and Saucer. Bridal veil falls and the trail is another great trek. I love the whole island
I absolutely loved hiking at Cup & Saucer. I also always loved taking my dogs for a daily walk in my father-in-law’s field in Cape Smith, Wikwemikoong.
In your lifetime, make sure you visit Manitoulin Island. My wife is known as a Haweater - someone born on the island. They have a jam made from the Haweater plant, only grown and found on the island. The island is the largest in the world inside a fresh water great lake. The island is so big it has many large fresh water lakes inside the island.
That is quite a set of records - love the idea of lakes within islands within lakes! I'm so impressed by just how much there is to do here as well, perfect whether you're heading outdoors, want some beach or history (and fish and chips, obviously). Beautiful.
10 mile point is gorgeous, Mcleans Mt lookout. August Long Weekend is the Haweater Fest.. unfortunately the Wiki Powwow got hit with a storm this year before I could grab a taco. Gore Bay... Cooks Dock... all the pretty back roads... I miss it already
This is so pretty! I'm taking a day trip into Canada through Michigan and came across this. Thanks, only the more I look at this, the more I think I would love to stay longer!!!!
Ty Wandering Wagars!!!! :) I will be going up through Saulte Ste Marie and looking forward to it! Are you familiar with Harmony Beach or a place called Bruce Mines? I was thinking of checking that area out, it sounds very nice :)
Did you know that Earl Haywood wrote a song about Manitoulin Island in the late 60s? It;s called Moonlight on the manitoulin. It is getting forgotten, so Hugh just recorded it to keep it alive.
Wow, I had no idea that anything in Canada had people living there so long ago. Thank you for educating an ignorant European. This looked like an amazing adventure! I would love to stay in a teepee, and see aboriginals in their beautiful costumes. Thanks so much for sharing :)
It's pretty amazing just how back the aboriginal population in the America's goes back. And they are still finding more, much older sites up in British Columbia.
I highly recommend visiting Bridal Veil falls on a hot summer's day. It's nothing but cool shade and cool water. The sun only shines through at noon. It's the closest thing I've gotten to paradise in my own personal experience.
The Eco-park was nice . I would 100% go back . The cabins were inexpensive , very rustic. Located at the front of the park . If you want quiet and privacy ,it’s not for you . If you don’t mind having a little more human interaction. It’s perfect. The bathroom and community kitchen is very close.
pretty cool info! loved drone shots 'm definitely subscribing, looking forward seeing more videos in the near future gotta support my fellow traveler. 💯

I actually live on Manitoulin Island it's actually really great its cold though love going swimming love the history love everything about it did you know there were two they going to put all the natives in Ontario on this island
Hi Richard, While it is possible to do a daytrip to Manitoulin from Owen Sound, your time will be tight. We have done that from Tobermory, which is about 1.5 hours north of OS. If you do decide to take the Chi Cheemaun , aim for one of the dinner sunset trips for your return voyage. That will save you time and get you a great meal/sailing experience. You would likely have time to hit Mindemoya (stop at Mums). and visit Bridal Veil Falls as well. However, if you haven't explored much of Tobermory and Bruce Peninsula, I'd suggest spending your time there and making a trip specifically to Manitoulin on another journey.
I was there , well across the water, today for work, i get so excited about Canadian history. Cobalt is mainly my focus but glad i get to travel 4 work !
I know! We missed that one during our visits. We are hoping to time a visit to Manitoulin next summer during the Powwow in Wikwemikong. I hear it's a blast!

I looked at the map, this should belong to the United States. We must take measures to annex the island while Trump is President. I will talk with the Governor of Michigan.
Went to Manitoulin island and Sudbury 10 years ago. It was boring to be honest. Tourism there is very underdeveloped. Manitoulin island has no kayak/canoe rental that goes to the lake and you need to bring your own boat. We managed to find a rental on a little ugly river. Long lineup by the way as there's no other choice. Sudbury is another boring city that we found little things to do. If you have time, you should go to Tobermory instead. Tobermory is overpriced both in accommodation and restaurant. Restaurants in Tobermory is awful even you have to pay a premium. But you have a lot more things to do compared to Sudbury and Manitoulin island.

good for you! I live in PA. I AM Looi9ng forward to MC trip with 3 friends in July!

It’s the Picnic Island Lumber Mill. Built in 1868 and was the third largest in the region until it burned in 1911.
