*It does do 2.7K max resolution, which is above standard HD, so you could get away with up rezzing it to UHD 4K. Like you say, if your intended audience is cell phone or vertical video cell phone, then it should be quite usable. However, I would like to see a slightly better UHD resolution camera on the next version, perhaps an Hover Air X1 MK II ?*
Brilliant video thank you. Very hard to find ‘non’ promotional reviews on this, I’d LOVE to have one but as you said a little pricey. DJI would make a killing with something like this with a decent camera! Hopefully I’ll still resist…..😅
As a result, I purchased both for travel, DJI Osmo Pocket 3 and Hover Air X1. In general, I came to the conclusion that there are no many cameras and they all fulfill their task.
SOLD !!! Damn.....now I have to buy one. I have to have one now. BUT one AMAZON (Canada) there are two options... Hoverair x1 Standard and Hoverair X1 Combo..... Reading through, I can't see what the difference is, other than the $100.oo difference in price. What is the difference? New subscriber here btw. Comment update: never mind... I found out what the difference is... one includes 2 batteries and charger. the other only includes 1 battery..no mention of a charger (but there has to be a charger,,,shouldn't there be?). Anyhow..... Bad bad me... I bought one. 🙄
yeah, extra battery and and a charger. Totally worth it. You can charge the battery inside the drone as well. I really like mine, really cool little device
Unfortunately, it has no obstacle avoidance whatsoever. Even in follow-me mode, it will happily crash into a tree that has been in full sight the entire time. It is very very good at following you, though, and it will follow your path very closely, so it might look like it is actively avoiding obstacles, but in fact it is just you avoiding the obstacles, not the drone.
for exactly that reason, it follows your path, it does need obstacle avoidance. Also it does not crash into anything, it barely bumps into obstacles and then lands
@PavSZ Well, then maybe you didn't use it while running or cycling? I had it crash into a tree or branch at high speeds several times now, and the obstacle was clearly visible for the camera and it steered right into it. And that was in follow-me mode. It is completely blind in dolly-track or side-follow modes, cause it has no sensors on the side or in the back. It relies only on the front camera to track you, and one can not state this often enough, it does an unbelievably good job at this, it even recognises you among several different people, and still follows only you and ignores everybody else. Regarding accidents, luckily the drone is very robust, and so far it has survived all these crashes and bumps and entanglements in bushes. Ah, and the fact that it "bumps into things and then lands" is exactly what I mean by saying it doesn't have obstacle avoidance, because if it had, it wouldn't be doing these things. ;) BTW, this is not a critique, I absolutely love this drone, it's the only drone I know that can track you completely autonomously, I have captured lots of really cool footage with it. I just don't want people to think it automatically flies around obstacles while dolly-tracking in front of you, because it won't. Would be really cool if it did, though. Can't wait for X2 :)

yes me too!
Awesome! Would love to have one!
You should!
Good review and video Pav! I wish it's a bit cheaper as i feel it's more a toy (but a very fun one).
Thanks Richard!
It should be cheaper as is but I'd be happy to pay more if it delivered DJI video quality
@@PavSZ yeah agree. I think it may just take a bit of time for the company to improve the technology but it does look really interesting
This camera is pretty cool!
isn't it just?

Thanks!
I'd pay more for DJI video quality in this
Hi, can I take and use this camera any country as lot of countries doesn’t allow even 249 gr
it is not a drone. No drone laws apply to it. It only flies 9m up and 6m away from you
How to do colour grade this
In Adobe Premiere, using my own LUTs
Hey Pav! Where’s the NAB video? I saw you there winning all of the giveaways 😁.
Haha! Yes, it's coming
Great vid, Thanks.
thanks!
That is the shame about the drop in quality with minimum light! Great review!
it is still great, fun camera to play with
Excellent presentation! Very exciting product. :) Looks like a good alternative to the Osmo Pocket 3 for some use cases!
It really is!

Could I get the X1 to follow my dog?
hm, good question.
I don't know. I think it needs a human form to register and track. I'll test that if I can find a willing dog
what is the flight time ? I mean battery time...?
not long but it's not meant for long flying times. I think 11 minutes

I made the video!!! Yeeeee!
of course!
really interesting! new technologies are always great! But for that price you can get a DJI drone.
maybe but can it fly by itself? 😉
Dji is a very different drone. Apples and pears. If I go back packing and want some holiday movies, the X1 is what I'm taking.
@@Notagain640 yep. Not comparable and this is made to be fun and simple (but too expensive)
