I've seen the tees in this state a few times. About 1976 or 77 the water was right up, higher than on here. Kind of scary all that power and energy. There was a spot just downstream of the white swan close to the stone steps where the water was actually almost still, a tiny back water. I dropped a worm in literally 2 or 3 feet away and pulled trout after trout. They were all sheltering there! Theres a stone marker carved into the pub wall showing a record level from maybe the 1800's? The water didnt reach it on that occasion. What always got me was how the ground would shake when there was a high level flood

Thanks for that info. The highest I ever saw the Tees was in the late 70's too and it was at the top of the steps and spilling onto the road at the Sills, and also into the fields by the Green Bridge. I think there is also a flood level marker on the wall part way down the righthand steps nearest the Swan where the old mill stood some years ago.
