The music on WLS Sucked during AM Drive, during this small era, BUT, Uncle Lar made up for all of it! He was the best Disc Jockey in America (in my opinion). Larry Lujack kicked Howard Stern's Butt! It was not the music that made WLS, it was the air talent. At least, WLS had it over WGN, WMET, WBBM-FM, etc. Today in Larry's Spot, Mancow Muller's show is too noisy, but he's O.K.
Mara Davis would call that “cheese” music. But that to me shows his talent of matching the intensity of the ads and the music of the day through his voice. He openly admits that he is not a fan yet he maintains objectivity through his “news skills.”
