Hello dear friend! Excuse me, but I have a question, why did you use the lens "Olympus 17mm 1.2" when shooting, and not "olympus ed 20 mm f 1.4 pro". After all, they are close in focal length and aperture, even "olympus ed 20", in my opinion, is better suited for a waist-up portrait. Or is "olympus ed 20 mm f 1.4 pro" not as good as "Olympus 17mm 1.2"?
Lamp light instead flash light: I like this choice, especially for macro photo, even underwater. But, a great naturalist photographer invited me to use the flash for macro, to avoid blurry. So, I'm thinking to buy a cone diffuser for my flash FL-700. I saw very good photos shot with it. Thank you to you and your Italian friend Sally. Sergio from Milano
Thanks Sergio! The big advantage of an LED is that you can use it for filming as well. But of course, the short, intense burst a flash provides has many advantages for macro. You should definitely get a diffuser for your FL-700. Excellent flash gun! Best wishes and thanks for your continued support. Yours, Thomas
I am usually drawn to eyes, but for some reason number 3 is the one that I like the most. C100 seems to be a quite a good light for that type of portrait work.
Favourite photo: 4 Great job, but I have been gaining more and more confidence with flash, which it seems just easier to carry around. This hand held light still has a ton of applications like giving backlight, colouring a wall or backdrop. Cool item indeed.
Thanks for voting! Stay tuned for the full review of the C100 - this one is so powerful that it can easily serve as a key light. The CEO of Zhiyun had a few remarks about why this is possible: ruclips.net/video/JLYgUbZryv0/видео.html Best, Thomas
Those are all really nice poirtraits. This method also highlights the flexibility of Micro Four Thirds for these types of shoots. I can imagine it would be a struggle to do the same method of one handed shooting plus a light if you were on a larger sensor camera. With results as you’re getting, why would anyone burden themselves with that heavier kit?
My thoughts exactly! Even though I still own all sorts of non-MFT equipment, I have not used it in a year. I just can't find a justification why I should use a bigger camera which does not give me the same flexibility!
Do you use OM Workspace as your primary post-processing tool? I see you have several guides for it. Do you export photos from Workspace to further edit in another application? The interface seems very different to other applications I have used and I have not been able to convince myself to give it a serious try. Perhaps I should watch your Workspace videos and give it better consideration. Thanks for the interesting video!
Photo number one and four I both like a lot. I also like the photo where her face is a bit obscured by the beads of her vest. Adds a bit of mystique. You could have shown the photos a bit longer. The light is very interesting!
Thank you very much! I'll extend the time the photos are on screen the next time, great feedback. The light is really, really cool. There will be a full review and additional BTS videos where I'll show what you can do with it. Stay tuned! Best, Thomas 📸
While led lights have there place I think you missing their big weakness. Quite simply they are no where near as bright as flash guns. Secondly flash gun have a short duration so you can adjust shutter speed to control the balance. I bought a Rotolight Neo 2 and found it of limited use in most situations as it is simply not bright enough. The specification of the ZHIYUN C100 is confusing as to how much light ( lux or lumens ) it actually produces. The 17mm F1.2 is definitely a little gem of a lens.
Well, there is definitely no such thing as free lunch (I think I'm overusing the phrase haha) - what is great about LEDs is that you can also shoot video, which is often a necessity. Regarding the specs - stay tuned for my in-depth review of the C100. I'll provide all the details there. And yes, the 17mm PRO is fantastic!

Thanks Peter, I also really like #3. The C100 is indeed pretty nice, it is surprisingly versatile and I'm using it a lot. Future videos ahead!
Picture 4 and it was a stunning work like usual!
Thank you very much, and great to see you here on RUclips, my dear friend!
1 or 4. I also liked the one when the face was partially covered by dress sleeve :). Beautiful woman and great photos :)
Oh yes, I like those partially covered shots as well! Thanks for voting!
Hi Thomas, you are great as always!
As for the model's photo, I think she liked either photo #1 or #2.
Thank you so much!
Yes, those were indeed her favorites!
