    What makes me laugh most about the Bharv scene is Isabella says we don’t have time for long drawn out apologies, whilst the whole scene is a long drawn out apology lol.

      Yup. This one is extremally late, because this crap took me around 55 hours to complete, I wanted to see everything, and some of the cringiest stuff, like "bigoted humans", comes from side quest.

    The worst romance scene that I've seen was Harding and Taash (where Taash gets her a gift). It seemed like Harding wasn't receptive to her and she only went along with it because she's a people-pleaser. Rook even pressures Harding to hurry up. It was creepy - Taash kept smelling her and Harding wasn't sure what to say. None of the romance scenes felt authentic or passionate. The writing in general was awful, especially the way characters kept repeating words and themes. In the opening sequence, they must say the word "ritual" twenty times. In one short scene, Taash says "dragon slayer" three times. One of the first things screenwriters are taught is to avoid repetition whenever possible. There was also a total absence of subtext in the dialogue - characters said exactly what they meant. Conservations sounded like placeholder dialogue that never got rewritten.
    The ending of this video is from EFAP.. I'm pulling a Bharv!

      To be fair, every romance in this game feels weird and uncomfortable. And so do all scenes with Taash.
      But if Bioware doesn't stop treating writers like second class citizens, we won't get any well written game from them.
      Drew Karpyshyn also left, and that's why Andromeda looked as it looked.

      Taash is an autistic creep and the textbook case why people avoid relationship with people on the spectrum. I acted only remotely reminiscent of this way when I was younger and didn't have yet skills or awareness to read people and take a hint and it cost me relationship. Granted, Taash doesn't have three digit IQ to fix her problem with creep behaviours.

      @@Iceqert_Play The thing I find very uncomfortable is how the developers made the decision to remove many 'grown-up' elements from the game... except for the romance and references to sex. Another major change they made was introducing a far more child-friendly art style. I haven't seen anyone highlight this in any of the reviews I've seen so I may be reading too much into things but I personally find it a little creepy

    you know, it would of been interesting for harding to have magic and dreams but hear me out it slowly drives her mad. It sends her simple dreams, lovely then slowly turns into a calling that greywardens have or something similar. The only way to save her is to let her follow the calling to the end OR put her into a golem. There is also the option to prevent her from touching the dagger too.

    I disagree with your notion that Veilguard doesn't damage Dragon Age.
    If "make more God of War-esque gameplay" is going to be the dev's takeaway from this then it IS damaging. Customizing my companion's A.I. and being able to take control of them to try out their skillset for a while matters to me big time! That's why I was able to play and survive through DA2 with a party of Mages and a dog. I switched into controlling Warrior companions for the dragon fights in Inquisition because my player character is a Rogue Archer and the last thing I want is pulling aggro.
    I don't want to play Tank where all the enemies are immediately targetting me. My playstyle is backline support. I want my companions to be more than a Skill Slot I can just click on and ignore for the rest of the game until their cooldown finishes.
    I have other things I can complain about but the Veilguard's barebones gameplay is my top concern.

    • @Iceqert_Play
      @Iceqert_Play  9 дней назад +3

      Like I said, it depends from the person if they think that it does or does not do damage to the franchise.
      But saying that I meant it lore wise.
      The enemies in Veilguard don't target only you tho. You can distract them with the companions, but they do nothing really besides that.
      Every Dragon Age game looks and feels different because they have different directors. There is no consistency. The next game, if we even get next one after this disaster, will be handeled again by someone different.
      Seeing how this game was received I doubt they gonna double down on this style of gameplay, but it's modern Bioware after all, so who knows.

    I can’t help but notice how all these woke companies’ focus on being “inclusive” has ironically destroyed any semblance of character design.
    They are so focused on appealing to diverse groups, yet somehow, every single character not only in this game but across the board, ends up looking like a mannequin. Even shit like Saint’s Row which has an in-depth character creature ends up having their characters look like hideous clones.
    Shit even things like Mortal Kombat have made their female characters look like literally the same person copy pasted. Yet for some reason, they have no issue putting a juiced out unattainable dude like Shao Khan with his muscles out, which is a good thing cause it looks cool, but again underscores this irritating dichotomy between their “objectification” standards between men and women. Truly sickening, hope Ubisoft going bankrupt and this game failing scares the woke out of these companies.

    Feels like a very basic-witch* casual DnD campaign plot, honestly. Like, Dragon Age was a lot more nuanced and mature, wtf. You wanted a DnD Casual adventure feeling - go make a new IP ffs, but noooo they gotta milk the one that sells.

    Great review! But how can you confidently say this doesn’t ruin or hurt dragon age? Most of the previous lore has been retconned/ruined and sales are not doing good, this is potentially the last dragon age we get, especially if mass effect flops which I don’t have high hopes for tbh.

    • @Iceqert_Play
      @Iceqert_Play  7 дней назад

      I played it carefully and getting as much of the lore and side quests as I could digest. I haven't seen any retcons or lore ruining, outside of racial division being almost non-existent in Tevinter.
      I missed one important side quest tho, which unlocks the secret ending, but I've seen it. I see most lore/history retcons people mention tie into this one additional scene.
      The executors, which are not new, because they've been mentioned in Inquisition and in stories. Saying this group have manipulated events of Dragon Age games from the shadows.
      There is always a problem with adding this type of thing into the lore of an existing franchise. But we only got this one cryptic scene, and personally I'd be interested in seeing what will they do with it... that is if Dragon Age won't stop existing after this game. It doesn't have to ruin the lore if executed well, but with current Bioware... oh well...

    • @Jaco._.
      @Jaco._. 7 дней назад +1

      @ Southern Thedas is basically destroyed, Elves are basically responsible for everything and those “executors” manipulating Logahin who was complex character, somehow manipulated Bertrand lol it’s so stupid! Also solas defeated the titans who their blood is lyrium but are defeated by a dagger made of lyrium? So made by their own blood?? I’m a huge dragon age fan but I don’t care if they ever make a new one it’s never going to back to the old way not even on Inquisition level.

    • @Iceqert_Play
      @Iceqert_Play  7 дней назад

      The dagger did not kill the titans, they used it to sever them from the veil and locked their dreams in the veil. It is a bit messy tho.
      But, that's why I said it's only for me personally, everyone will feel differently if this ruins Dragon Age for them, and I completely understand it.

    • @Jaco._.
      @Jaco._. 7 дней назад

      @ true, but your review confuses me a bit. It’s 99% negative which I agree cause the game is bad! But you’re aren’t worried in the slightest about DA? Every subsequent release has been bad starting with Andromeda, anthem, now veil guard. What makes you believe DA with somehow magically turn it around? If they make a new one it’ll be the same BioWare that made vielguard.

    • @Iceqert_Play
      @Iceqert_Play  7 дней назад +1

      I don't have faith in Bioware. I am worried about Dragon Age, I actually think we may never see another game from this series. I always try to give creators benefit of a doubt until I see the game's full release.
      Every Dragon Age game has also different Game Director, that's why this franchise is so inconsistent in quality, so there is a chance next one would be someone more competent.
      Until someone won't completely butcher the lore, I will have some hope left.
      To be honest, Bioware should beg on their knees David Gaider and Drew Karpyshyn to return.

    Taash feels really teenager-y. I think their arc is fine, it would have been better if Rook could challenge some of their notions or if it wasn’t just about their gender. Anyway, with them feeling so young I actually cringed a bit thinking they are a romance option for adult Rook :/ Same with Bellara. She sounds so juvenile that is like dealing with a young girl or someone that is on the spectrum and has severe delays.

    Honestly I'm glad I only played up to Dragon Age 2, and that was it. Didn't even attempt inquisitor. But seeing bits and pieces of this game and its writing makes me hope they don't try to make a Mass Effect sequel. Andromeda already was a hint of whats to come. And since they are cleaning their hands off of Dragon Age they are surely going to move all those assets to Mass Effect.

      I'd say no. You aren't being rude about it, and liking a game that isn't liked by a good amount of the community or one that is poorly-made/unpolished is perfectly fine.
      Depsite over 120 hours, I don't personally enjoy BG3. I don't hate it, but I don't like it. Just a "I'm tired and just want to hit things" game. Also broke the late-game bosses AI a couple times just from goofing around with AoE and terrain abilities. Still, it's a popular game, I'm just not the target audience.
      Note that I didn't buy it myself. My sister got it for me, and playing it with her (and my brother) is where I get the most enjoyment.

      I found this picture of a graphic cross for people with low media literacy: four sides are I like it, it's good, didn't like it, it's bad. Those are independent of each other, you can like something bad and dislike something good, personal taste doesn't affect moral value (only fools think that way)
