- In this video check out my Mallorca supermarket tour for 2023 find out how much things cost, to see if prices are shocking or good value.
With price increases all over the world, we'll take a look back on some of the items from my video from last year with an update on prices.
Find out how much prices have gone up and if they are shockingly expensive if you are shopping in Mallorca.
I will cover many of the same items and I'll also include some other items too.

Love Mercadona! I love the Arroz con Leche. I also love the theme tune “Mercadona, Mercadona” 😂 100 x better than UK supermarket including Waitrose and M&S

Mercadona is awesome. Kind of akin to Waitrose. Alcampo in Marbella is the best (of the majors) Ive been to in Spain.
We also have one Alcampo in Mallorca too! Shame it's only the one!
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun As you drive down the costa del sol you see it advertised a lot/ Only one there too I think, so they just pick one, ultimate, central location

Definitely, apart from alchohol, I think it's as expensive as the UK more or less!

I hear that the USA is super expensive now! It used to be the place where I would love to go on holiday when I was younger to get some great deals!

My goodness! Watching this video made me hungry! ‘Saw lots of lovely stuff there that I would love to eat right now! It has really gone up in price though. The olives seem very reasonable as do some of the toiletries you pointed out. Really good video Alex!
@@SouthWestSundays yeah, mercadona has risen prices up really a lot. When i go to my mercadona nearby my town, i buy 5 or 6 stupid things and the screen shows up €19-21 !!!
I love that shop, Mercadona is still way, way cheaper than UK.
Loved this, whenever we go over to Spain we always pick up loads of ‘Tokkes’ chocolate bars from the supermarket because I’m obsessed with them, my favourite chocolate ever wish they would bring them to the uk 🤩
Ohhhh, I've seen them, never tried them, but on my next trip, will give them a go!

Hi alex i would say things like bottled water and soda's are a lot more expensive in the U.K as you will find out soon.
I can hardly wait. LOL ☹At least I'll come back not complaining about the cost of stuff here!

Can you get Salad Cream in Mallorca, preferably Heinz ? Maybe they have it at Eroski?
They will have it somewhere, such as Nice Price or Cidon in Portals!
We always find the Mallorcan supermarkets good value compared to UK prices! Love just going in and looking around as everything seems to be so much nicer! Roll on September when we'll be back.

It's in Son Caliu, near to Palmanova.

Forgot to mention that prices have gone up in Spanish supermarkets since my last shop there. Hahaha. How much did it cost you in total and how often do you shop, Alex.
I always spend about 50 euros. Doesn't matter what I buy. Also can't seem to get everything in one place like you would do in Tesco. So annoying.

All price rises / differentials are relative wherever one goes.
Mercadona try to keep their prices competitive by having longer contracts with their suppliers but
It is still possible to have a cost effective holiday but like Alex is doing right now, showing that no where is "cheap" if that is what you want.
In the UK , from my last visit, it is vastly more expensive. The thing to be aware of is buying "own" brands they are still cheaper than known brands
And they probably make the home brands on the same factory. I’m horrified by the costs of things in the U.K. at the moment !
@@MallorcaUnderTheSun Alex, I bought a large beer €2.70 and a Benjamin (Cava small bottle) €3.50 in a local spanish bar around the corner from where I live in Puerto Pollensa but you have to go, slightly , off the beaten track...
In the Soller region is only an Eroski which is really getting too small. Do you know how Mercadona or Lidl can be convinced to open a shop in or around Soller?

Still much cheaper than Northern Europe but of course median income is different as well.

Prices though have gone up a lot in the UK so still comparable.
The one thing going by videos that seems very expensive is olive oil which surprises me considering how much is made there. What would be the average price for a litre of decent quality olive oil in Spain today? Also is it good enough to use as we would virgin olive oil in the UK ie on salads unheated?

Is Eroski (in general) considered to be a good option if Mercadona isn't close by?

Not in Mercadona but you will find organic products in Aldi! I'll make a video there at some point!

BECAUSE WHY WOULD ANYONE HOLIDAYING IN PALMANOVA, ALCUDIA, CALA D'OR, CALA BONA ETC DRIVE TO THE ONLY ALCAMPO SUPERMARKET ON THE ISLAND? ;)
