  • Join us on a journey beneath the surface as we uncover the remarkable technology behind tunnel boring machines (TBMs) and their pivotal role in how transit is being transformed in the GTHA so people can get to their destinations faster and easier.
From their size to their precision-driven operation, TBMs are true marvels of modern engineering. Discover how these mammoth machines chew through rock and soil with ease, leaving behind smooth, reinforced tunnels.
The tunnels in this video are for the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension. There is also a TBM working on the Scarborough Subway Extension, and as construction progresses, they will also be seen on the Ontario Line and Yonge North Subway Extension.
