Search for the lost Huon Piners Cabin Jane River Tasmania

- In this video we return to the Jane river on an all new exploration mission in search of the old huon piners cabin. The cabin was last seen and photographed in 1938 by Michael Sharland who was on an expedition in search of finding the last remaining Tasmanian Tigers that were going rapidly going extinct at the time. With a good amount of evidence supporting the location Rob Parsons, Hugh Calvert and myself team up on what would be our most challenging 6 day hike so far, tackling the slopes of Staff Hill before descending into the Jane river flats. We tackle 75kms of punishing south west wilderness with no marked tracks tackling some of Tasmania's thickest vegetation barreau, melaleuca, horizontal and cut grass not to mention kilometres of swampy button grass plains. Join us on the adventure of a life time as adventure builds, tempers rage and the weather sets in.

Who is john Stannard?
@@joselitogumad-ang1416 19yr old Huon Piner from Tasmania a pioneer
Those are the inside portions of old batteries. I used to pull them apart, as a kid!
Yes, batteries is what they are. I used to pull them apart too.
As an old explorer/bush basher I loved this and appreciated how rugged this was. One of these days you're bound to stumble across a tiger for sure :)
The one thing that argues against the tiger still surviving is the lack of sightings
by deep bush explorers. Or are there solid sightings by you, other explorers that go deep into Tassie's remotest areas? Would be interested in Tassie Boy's input or others here as well!
It's a nice thought but it seems like an impossibility. What's perhaps even more tragic is the fairly solid evidence that they likely survived into the mid 80s yet we were still unable to save them. When you watch the footage of them from the 30s, anyone who's owned a dog recognizes all of their behaviours. Everything I've seen them do in those films my dog has done and it's a real condemnation of us as a species that we drive species we don't understand to extinction. I love sheep as much as the next lonely Kiwi but was it worth driving the Thylacine to extinction to protect a few head of mutton?
"If we're still watching..." pfft, nobody's going anywhere Levi, lol!
Of phew 😅
Thank yous for the awesome 👌 👏 👍 video
This video never gets old ❤️
Awesome Levi, Hugh, Rob.
Thank you.
Andy
Thankyou for the effort of all your mates in preserving stories from our past and the placement of the headstone.
Takes me right back mate, epic trip. And so glad I got to share it with you boys. Now.. when are we going back? 🤔 😛
Soon hey cheers lad ✌🏼✌🏼
Takes me back .... u sound old Pasins but u way younger than me
Hey Rob,
Haven't watched it all only just sent link.
Good to see your stretching the legs and doing some bush bashing, where is the next mission?
From danal.
That's impressive! All without a back pack! Unreal!
Nice job on the replacement of the marker. I found the remnants of my stepbrother's marker where his ashes were spread. It was beat up from the weather, it's on the top of a gravel pass in WA. state. I replaced it with a new one, cedar, nicely finished to help it stand up a little better in the winter.
That’s awesome work mate good on you I bet it was a very satisfying feeling
The best yet Levi. Tourism Tasmania should promote your trips.
Another epic adventure boys.. well done Amigo 1,2 & 3!!! 😊💚🌿 So glad Hugh got to go this trip too… you are a very kind person Levi 💖😁💚

Epic adventure boys , glad Hugh made it to the end this time. I love to see the different perspective of the trips between Robs channel and yours Levi . @@officialtassieboysprospecting oh shit and I now your in Tasmania where did I get NZ sorry my bad lol
@@officialtassieboysprospecting Looks very much like the West Coast and Fiordland, so easy mistake, except for some tree species. People forget that Teatree{ Manuka} is common to both countries.

It’s a battle at times but with three of us it helps take turns on the shit
I love your journeys, i know first hand editing videos is time consuming. The worst part . Which is why i enjoy your videos. Its nice to sit back for an hour and watch the journey . Great views nature at its best. Its actually better then watching a national geographic channel on tv. Thanks levi 👊
Fantastic adventure Levi, thank you!
As always a bloody fantastic video fantastic trip . Epic as thanks for the history and the great friendship and passion you guys have.
I have watched Rob's and now your version, so different considering its the same trip. Both are breathtaking and a credit to the hard work you both put into your videos, both are spectacular. Congrats.
Wonderful adventure with your mates in such beautiful country. Makes my explorations look like a walk in the park. Thanks for sharing!!
What a nice surprise!!! Enjoyed it, thanks!!!
The carbon rods with the metal cores look like battery terminals.
Yeah ok I think your right cheers 👍🏼
Yes that is right , really old battery pieces .
@Ham Yai the core to old lead acid batteries an if you do electrolous you use these to clean metal .
Yes they are the remains of batteries that were used in old radios, they would have been packed togeather in small soft cardboard boxes.
Thanks for sharing the adventure, Bush bashing off the tracks is tough work
Good fun!!!
I just love you blokes bloody hero.
Great Adventure lads!! Uncuts at the end 😂😂👍🏼👍🏼
