Thanks for the interesting tour. I was impressed by how light the interior seemed, I guess from those large windows. I even liked the interior paint colors. The stairway and the room with the skylit rotunda were equally impressive. And exploring the grounds and coming upon crumbling follies in the landscape was an adventure. Another enjoyable tour, thanks!
Thank you, lovely tour. I think the house would make a better impression if the entrance columns weren’t so darkened, it gives the impression it’s falling apart and the interior is so nice
Adam you are now a profesionel filmmaker so wonderful filmed the inside of this manor with beautiful music This mansion so mysterious and mystic and these enormous park garden, another dream episode of your England houses tour , thank you so much for this.
Thank you so much for this wonderful episode. The quiet patience you show in looking at the house but equally setting it in the centre of the estate creates the impression of how such families and the community on which they are centred functioned. The gates on the entry to the bowling green would themselves make a wonderful architectural drawing.
Just found this on RUclips and LOVE it. I’ve lived in nearby Codsall all my life. I really must visit! Thankyou for making me aware of what is on my doorstep!
You're very welcome, thank you! Yeah, it's a lovely place, you should visit some time. They still have a couple of guided walks this year according to their website. There may be more events next year similar to the one I went to. Thanks again, Adam. See here: www.chillingtonhall.co.uk/whats-on
We were told during the tour that the dark marking in the columns were actually veining in the stone. I agree though that it's not overly pleasing to the eye.
The family name Giffard is pronounced with a soft “G". It originates in France, from the Norman Conquest. The family have owned Chillington since then.
Random question, I've always wondered allot of the big houses you see appear to be built from stone , is it just cladding 🤔 so underneath they'd be the same as this red brick ✌️
Good question! Some are genuinely built from solid stone. Then you have some that are built from bricks like this then are 'stone-faced' afterwards or have a render/stucko applied to make them look a certain way. Thanks for watching, Adam :)
Agreed that it's not perfect, but in their defence it is still owned by the same family since around the 12th century (I think) so I'm guessing that their budget only goes so far each year and they probably have to prioritise with regards to how much and what gets done. I think what I'm trying to say is that it's not one of these mega mansions with millions of visitors a year and lots of volunteers that seems to have an almost endless budget. It's just a family home that lets people in for several open days a year. I do take your point though, and many thanks for watching. Adam :)
No, definitely not. I have seen their videos listed and I know they visit some country houses. But no, I can assure you I'm my very own person. I havn't watched their videos but I'm guessing our accents/voices are different. I appreciate you watching my video though. Thanks, Adam :)

I agree. It doesn't give the best first impression of what is otherwise a nice estate.

Yea, I could chill out at Chillington .
It did have quite a chilled atmosphere. Lovely parkland :)
Very nicely paced. What an amazing park.
Thank you. Glad you liked it. Adam :)
The village Brewood is pronounced brewed as in brewing a cup of tea.
Thank you! I only found this out after returning home. I've now learned my lesson :)
Nice presentation,. Why weren't those ionic columns washed and then sealed? They are so ghastly looking upon approach, and even worse up close.

Yes, thanks. I realised this during our tour, but it was a bit too late by then, haha.

@@AdamExploresBritain Thanks for the info 🙏 great chanel btw 🙂
It's nice, but could do with some work doing. The lawn edging is rough, and the interior could do with painting.

It's pronounced ..Brood ..not Bre-wood. Always puzzles non locals.
Yes, thank you. I only found this after returning home, but now I know. Thank you for watching, Adam 🙂👍
