I’m a bit torn with the faking for a free kick incident. Imagine if that free kick dictated whether or not a team got into finals or a prelim? Players would 100% take the fine and pay it with a smile. Though a suspension seems extreme. Not sure what the answer is

If players didnt try to beat the tackle then none of them would be getting hurt at all. The golden rule used to be 'don't get caught'' so if you were red hot, as Walsh was, you wouldn't even try to pick it up, you would knock it to advantage and then follow up ... but today players know 90% of the time, the umpire wont ping them, so they have been going into the tackle attempting to break it, confident that usually, the worst that happens is a ball up. Unfortunately, according to the law of unforeseen circumstances, a lot of them are now getting KO'd in the tackle. Theres an easy solution, if you Dont want to get Knocked out...don't get caught. The duty of care TO YOURSELF is greater than the tacklers duty to you. Mind you, None of this would have happened if the umpires just paid holding the ball the way they are supposed to...Walsh had prior, he chose not to take it, so he assumes responsibility for everything that happens after that.

Dangerfield getting of is ridiculous , no wonder players are confused and supporters think the system is a joke ! They said the rule was if you pin both arms it's a suspension , but because of the position he holds in the association he gets off. Fake a head knock , get pulled off for the 20 minute concussion test .

You got kids that play footy ? If so lets go back to the good old days of behind the play king hits, sling tackles, all in brawls and massive shirt fronts and then see what your think with making footy great again with relaxed rules !

@@chinathesideyoudontsee8157 yes, both my sons play footy. And ? If Toby Greene gets weeks then that would be a joke. In case you don't know, footy is a contact sport and if you don't want any injuries then ban tackling altogether. If Jamie Elliott takes a hanger and puts his knee into his opponents head and knocks him out, Elliott should cop a few weeks, right ? If you think Dangerfields tackle is EVEN REMOTELY the same as king hits or all in brawls then you need to replace your nappies and put your dummy back in.

My statement about shirt fronts , sling tackles ect is in regards to you saying make footy great again, and when I played that's what we did and I thought that is when footy was great, though not as skillful and very dirty!

Essendon needs to win against good teams first to shut up the critics and Geelong should be guaranteed win for Bombers if they want to make an impact in September.
Geelong won 1 game in the last 6-7 and will probably miss finals at this rate with the likes of Lions, Demons and Dogs still trying to get those last few spots.

If the tackling player has to consider in fractions of seconds how to tackle including how many arms are pinged, then the tackled player should have to consider how they land including head control.

I understand your point but if you tackle holding one arm you increase the risk of a sling tackle.🙄
You also give the opponent an opportunity to dispose of the ball by foot.
      Makes tackling too complicated.
Imagine trying to hold onto Bontempelli etc by one arm in a rundown tackle from behind - they will just break the tackle.
