I'm so glad that Lego started making new molds for Ideas sets, but I still wish they had done it earlier. Like we could've gotten Dino in the Flinstones set, or the Blue Meanie in the The Beatles Yellow Submarine.
Agreed. Especially for the Flintstones. Imagine molded heads for the characters too. I'm glad we still got Flintstones but it would've been so much better if it came out now
@@LegoMastery But back then it was only allowed if it was going to be repurposed for another set and save money, the Sonic Screwdriver was created because it could be reused for the Dimensions pack and wouldn't be that hard to make, same goes with the Steamboat Willie set, which used used new molds for Mickey and Minnie's hats because they were going to be repurposed for the Disney minifigure series 2, it wasn't until Sesame Street that Lego allowed multiple new and detailed one-off molds to be in Idea sets.
I've never actually watched any of the movies and don't care much, but I like the stickers/printed pieces in this set, and I REALLY want to get the 3 witches and have them wandering around my Diagon Alley set
$230 is not terrible for such a large building. As always, I would love to see it cheaper, but it’s not absolutely offensive like almost every Star Wars set. My only two nitpicks are the decently large amount of stickers and Billy not being included. I feel like if LEGO went above and beyond in little ways like not having any stickers or anything like that, everyone would be way more on board with the $230 price tag. Still pretty cool though. I have a backlog so I definitely won’t get it immediately, but for sure I will eventually.
Just after cv 19 all the big sets went up by 20 to 30 £ like I got the home alone house two years ago and it was £230 now 6 months later it’s now at £260
I can't help but compare this to the Medieval Blacksmith set. For starters, I like how the roof on this set lifts up (using Technic beams) without needing to be completely removed. I also appreciate the way that the sides of this building can be opened for interior viewing without needing to remove each floor separately. Even though I'm not a fan of Halloween, I have to appreciate the level of detail and decoration packed into this set. And the printed "Salt" cylinder is an excellent piece for any LEGO city!
9:25 It’s interesting seeing that classic lighting piece in a new color here. I think the only other time we saw that piece in green was the Troll’s Mountain Fortress from like 2009 I wanna say.
This is my favorite set of the year! I loved Halloween as a kid, still my favorite holiday, and watched this with my sister and then my niece growing up, I watch it every year, I also run a t-shirt shop where I make a Sanderson Sisters Witch museum shirt and it's been my best seller for years now. I'm super disappointed that there is no Billy Butcherson, is hair would be wild and he's such a fan favorite character. No Billy is a huge let down for me. But I'm day 1 on this set!
Well im still waiting for Snow White's Cottage but this is cool tho. And it reminds of Aurora's Forest Cottage lego set mechanics when you spin the wheel thingy
I haven't seen the film in a hot minute, but weren't the two bullies captured and kept in cages hanging from the ceiling? The set has those two cages which are shown in the promo video for the set on LEGOs Twitter account and both have a skeleton inside. Are those skeletons the dead bodies of the bullies? Because they were never let outta the cages by the end of the film
Seeing how in the sequel Gilbert says he visited the house shortly after The Sanderson Sisters died I think that’d be a bit overly dark if he just grabbed Book and left them there…though The Black Flame Candle does require the fat of a hangman and he made two of them so maybe…
This is a pretty solid set. I won't get it since I haven't seen the original or the new film, but I do like what I see. Although, I would've preferred seeing it release in October for the Halloween season
@@Tigereseye_and_toil Because it is for the 30th anniversary…the original film release in july as well. Also to make sure it is full stocked up at stores in time for halloween.
Hocus Pocus is incredibly popular and grows in popularity every year, Hocus Pocus 2 was literally one of the most watched things on Disney+ within a 24 hour window
if we did get the lego billy minifig, i feel like that it'd be the first one we'd get of a character played by doug jones, i dunno if we have gotten him before, correct me if i'm wrong in the replies, cuz' i can't really think of other ones to be honest, it'd be cool for a WWDITS mod if we get the baron as a minifig though(also a character played by Doug Jones)
I know it's not the focus of the video, but the Sanderson Sister torso + skirts would make for GREAT Game of Thrones/House of the Dragon customs. Or really any fantasy series! Also, does anybody see a great Fiona from Shrek custom with the torso/skirt from Winifred?
It’s not a gate to the Sanderson sister’s house (there is no gate for the house), it’s the gate to the graveyard where Billy is buried, and where the final ‘battle’ takes place
I don't think I'm going to get the full set personally, but I am ABAOLUTELY getting all the minifigures on BrickLink afterwards, they all look FANTASTIC!
I'm pretty happy they didn't ruin it for a change! Definitely will buy it... However, considering the just leaked (by LEGO) remake of the Eldorado Fortress will also be releasing on the 7th of July for 215€, I'll leave this one for later. Pirates absolutely takes precedent over anything Disney for me :P
Billy could've just used Mateo's hair piece, it isn't perfect but i think it would still look good-i don't think most people even knew he had a ponytail, at least i didn't
People complaining about downsizing this set? They always do that. But this is the most tame downsizing they’ve done! They lowered the piece count but the scale is the same!
Great if you love the movie and good if you just want a Halloween build (not enough spooky these days). Price creep unfortunately is evident comparing it to other Ideas sets. But LEGO price in 2023 is a stuck record at this point.
I'm Polish and this movie was very popular in my country back in the days, every year in tv. I've watched it many, many times when I was a kid and I absolutely love it! (not the second part from '22 tho, which should never have been made imo).
The set looks great, but I struggle to see that it needed to be this big. I wonder if there’s really a big market if people who like Hocus Pocus enough to spend over $200 on this. I thought they might do it in a similar scale to the up house that was just released and charge $100
I dunno the film’s fanbase has been consistently growing since 93, it’s one of those films that gets more and more popularity every year because people watch it on Halloween then introduce it to their partners, friends and kids
Agreed. It's not for me but I know there is a fanbase for Hocus Pocus. I'm just curious if there are enough of those fans willing to buy a set this big. I was wondering the same about the Pac-Man set. I feel like there are a lot more casual fans like me that would be willing to buy a sub-$100 Pac-Man set of the buildable characters than an almost $300 set
I never cared about the movie, I don't even know what happens at all in this movie, but...guess it's a typical "kids-but-sometimes-way-too-dark halloween" type of movie lol and it is BEAUTIFUL This will sell like hotcakes on halloween, and it's so useful for so much stuff! and the vidiyo hair makes me wonder what they had in mind for other waves; I love the feels of it and it's a shame it won't come back xd

Also, there is an easier fixed to the sitting down problem with short legs, using the build from the Rivendell set
