Hey Paul, I think that the reason everyone was saying it is so hard is because some people get twins or triplets. I was unlucky Enough to get triplets and I got completely overwhelmed with keeping all 3 of them fed
There was a bug at first that made them eat a lot but that has been patched and it seems to be better. I haven't done any breeding yet I've just seen a few videos with breeding in them.
The way the feeding is not as bad as you heard is when it first came out it was unfair then they fixed it. Also wolfs are one of the easiest ones to raise and you did not have to go in the hell of incubating an egg

Paulina needs a grandma skin now ;) Btw breeding is only really wierd on some dino's/animals, expect to see changes on that over time as the dev work on the second/third breeding pass. I really hope they will allow more controll over the indivual stages.
