I'm glad you showed the neighborhood. Most people just show the apartment (which all look the same), but for people that are actually considering moving there, it's nice seeing the community
Thank you for sharing your place with me. I was really impressed with you and the way you shared your life... I hope you find what ever you are looking for...
i really just care about my surroundings...the neighbourhood seems decent and nice, plus i could meet up with friends outside of the apartment. Its already clear the apartment is not for families, but for people who just want to be by themselves and in a warm cozy location, like the opposite of claustrophobia. Also i'm sure they have ventilation installed.I would personally want this more then a three floor house in the woods or an isolated house, in my opinion being around more people is more safer then a house 30 miles away from the nearest neighbor.
calm down, no one is being forced to live in the apartments i'm just saying that there are reason why people live in these apartments.I don't think you'd be able to even bring a family in the house...Melly said there is max of 3 people and that seems reasonable.
Japanese really don't care much about the environment, as their companies have been some of the most rapacious of any on earth during the last 50 years, and they pave and build everywhere. Personally, I enjoy their freedom to build and destroy. But yes, they profess to love the environment.
that little loft bed space is so cool. That's my dream bedroom as a kid, if I knew it existed when I was little I would have asked my parents to build it
True.for the same amount of money everyone pays in tokyo for a little apartment, you can have a BIGGER apartment in a semi-rural area or not so crowded area...
Di Blasi People move where jobs are and not everyone wants to lose the luxury of bigger cities (entertainment and get everything when they want) Who wouldn't love lots of space and fresh air, with a garden next to an open field and the big city just around the corner xD
Thank you for your suggestion about the rug burn!! I left my blowdryer on!! I like how my apartment in Korea seemed a bit more open. I also had a spectacular view of the city and I was able to purchase nice furniture for my year there! But because I am only here for 3 months my apartment came furnished and I sleep on the floor on a futon!! My apartment in Japan is much quieter though than in Korea. So that is nice. I was also lucky that in Korea I had a gym in the bottom floor and a mailbox
I am actually in Sagamihara now. We arrived on the 25th and will leave on the 27th. I can't say that I like this city, actually. It's pretty close to America, or as close as Japan will get, I think. How long did you stay here?
Just was wondering whatever happened when they did the apartment check-did they find the burnet spot on the carpet??? Do you think it would have been better to be honest and tell them what happened and pay for the repair? I hate to say it, but it as pretty difficult to hide-as much as I would have wanted to cover it up, I think I would have told them and paid for the repair. Surely they have extra carpet, and it should have been an easy repair-I have done it myself on my own carpets (at my parents house when a friend burnt the carpet with a cigarette. My parents never found out about the repair-LOL).
Many people complain about how tiny a Japanese apartment is but personal I think they are just not used to the size of it I don't know about other countries but in America the apartments are way bigger and I think that's why most Americans who live in a Japanese apartment think its really tiny and personally I really like the size of the apartment it looks cozy and I keeps reminding you that u have to clean up every now and then
Nice video! But I can`t believe they expect you to sleep in that capsule hotel-like loft :/ Looks like Westgate is a company that looks after its staff which is good to see.
don't think I could sleep in the little hole either. would be good storage or if you had company. Lol Really cute apartment. good for you for traveling to other countries. that is something I wish I would have done when I was younger.
I notice that there are bars and security gates all throughout the neighborhood and the security camera at the door. Is it a high crime area? I do love the apt. It's like my camper/RV.
Good sharing! Really love your positive attitude how you tend to see the good side of things and make the best of whatever you have. Some people just whine and complain like nothings ever good enough for them! If you happen to travel/relocate again, do make more of these room tours video where ever yo go. Here's a new sub! Take care!!
Enoshima is where my Grandfather In Law had his home. It was near the river a few blocks from the beach... We also stayed at Leopalace21 but in Kagohara...good price for the space. We were just one hour north of Tokyo and more rural. For 50m2, it was $700 a month. We had a two story townhome, small backyard, and a dumpster for our trash. It's different in the rural areas. We didn't have a bidet or the warming fan - our clothes had to dry in the mini backyard on the line. We got most basic items like a broom at the 100 Yen store. We also went to Costco in Iruma by renting a car. It was a Sunday and crazy... We are going back for 6 months next year but are using minimini to find a house to rent. You need to know Japanese to read the website. BTW, you committed one major faux pas...you need to air your futon on the line every day. It dissipates the sweat...;0)
It's so quiet, do many ride bikes? Your neighborhood is very neat and clean. I live in California and have exactly the same mail slot in my front door too. How many years did you study Japanese to become a teacher there? Great water closet!
hey! i liked your video! i lived in a bigger apartment when i was in japan. i like this country a lot and if i could go back i would, i know i would. thanks for posting it!
Wow better than little hut from another country called Laos/Thailand. It's a live able environments. What are you doing there for short timing (touring, journalist, job?). Thanks for sharing that view, reminds me of a former co worker from Japan who moved to Fresno, Ca for school & work. He has to maintain full time work on visa status. Now he's back home to Japan. This is a nice video and you're brave to be there by your self.....great experience right.
Actually as long as it isn't snowing at that moment most clothes dry faster in winter, If you do it right. The cold air dries super fast. Though you need to mitigate the original wetness levels to avoid freezing solid in the northern climates. so depends a bit on where I guess
Video is wonderful . I like everything small . Because small is always beautiful . Exactly similar type of accommodation I would like to have . Thank u very much .
I am an Army brat. I spent 12 years traveling around Europe. Sometimes you had a huge place to live and some times it was small. Most Americans are spoiled by the huge size of America and do not have a clue how limited space is around the world. For instance the 48 main States in America are 43 times the size of Great Britain. All of Western Europe could fit diagonally across the USA and only take up about 1/2 of America. So we used to everything being huge. It is just culture shock.
your neighbourhood looks cool. i think a small apartment can look nice when you put a plant in there and just a little decoration (it would be too cramped otherwise). but yours is kinda expensive in my opinion.
Depressing as hell. I'll stay in the states and romanticize about life in Japan through anime, thank you very much. Excuse me while I take an expedition to my backyard to get my dog.
the place is so familiar to me because i used to lived in sagamihara kanagawa ken before 2003 feb until may the apartment we use to stay near the bus station the bus no we use to ride from sagamihara to upper area is bus 17. i use to work in autoliv japan in atsugi
That rule only applies if you're living with a family. If you're living alone, you can do whatever you want. Soap in the tub, whatever. The rule only applies when you're sharing bath water with other people.
Yeah, I think I would have liked the apartment in Korea more but the one in Japan is so...cute! haha Thank you for your videos! These videos seem more...personal, as in, they aren't soley about teaching English, you take videos of things that people would normally do (COSTCO, etc.) but in a different country. I dunno, it's hard to explain but you're definitely my favorite ESL blogger (liked on facebook, subscribed to youtube, and follow your blog :D)! Keep making videos! ^_^
hello there, may i ask what schooling you did to become qualified for this? You see i dream of teaching thru out asia. Was thinign of getting my BA in psych minoring in linguistics but a lot of people are ragging on psychd egrees!
....My god, the entire apartment fits in my room!. Everything looks neat and nice...even expensive, however it is just to tiny. I would get really depressed :(
at least you are upbeat about your apartment. unlike another person who has twice the livingroom area you do. and she keeps complaining on how small her apartment is on YT here. and how she can't do much of anything in it. it is nice to hear folks who are being positive of what they have. and that is what I see in you. =)
What aspects about this apartment do you like more than your apartment in Korea and vice versa? Which one do you like more overall? And I love how you personalize your apartments! So cute!! :D And one more thing, not sure if it was obvious or anything, but definitely use google and youtube to your advantage to find a way to remove that carpet burn. I'm sure there's something out there that can help you! :)
I am an american living in Japan for the last 17 years and the apartment you are living are the cheapest in price and quality even most Japanese don't want to live in these places. These place are for people that are not making a lot in the way of salary. Don' t fooled this place are built by big companies for max profits. In addition she complains about recycles Japan has the best recycles system I have ever seen.
I would love to sleep in that little loft. I think it would feel so cozy and safe. Everyone thinks I'm weird like that
i wonder why we always watch videos of other people's houses from japan on youtube? lol idk but its entertaining for some reason
me too
Thank you for the tour! so interesting to see how people live in japan.
I'm glad you showed the neighborhood. Most people just show the apartment (which all look the same), but for people that are actually considering moving there, it's nice seeing the community
Thank you for sharing your place with me. I was really impressed with you and the way you shared your life... I hope you find what ever you are looking for...
I like little comfy appartements, why do people always want crazy big houses XD this is enough and it looks so cool :D
I highly agree with you.
i really just care about my surroundings...the neighbourhood seems decent and nice, plus i could meet up with friends outside of the apartment. Its already clear the apartment is not for families, but for people who just want to be by themselves and in a warm cozy location, like the opposite of claustrophobia. Also i'm sure they have ventilation installed.I would personally want this more then a three floor house in the woods or an isolated house, in my opinion being around more people is more safer then a house 30 miles away from the nearest neighbor.

plus were already overpopulated anyways lol
O God its so small
i rather live in a cave
that apartment is so nice, it is honestly my dream to live in an apartment like that in japan for a few weeks / months
me too :D
Same I want to go thiere when I'm older
I really enjoyed watching the tour of your neighborhood. Thank you.
really love how many trees are in the built up area
Im very amazed to see that Japan being a legendary techno giant city has pole mounted wires instead of underground cabling.
Go away with your LOL. Other countries even have underground cabling in the poorer regions.
You learn fast that japan is both high tech and 50 years in the past
You did a wonderful job decorating! 🙂
Japan is one of the cleanest and safest place on earth for a reason. Japanese are disciplined and they care about the environment.
Japanese really don't care much about the environment, as their companies have been some of the most rapacious of any on earth during the last 50 years, and they pave and build everywhere. Personally, I enjoy their freedom to build and destroy. But yes, they profess to love the environment.
earlysda D'ont forget about how they are murdering every single aquatic species until they are extinct .-.
Jason Henrie No they aren't.
earlysda how? Because im pretty sure they are
Jason Henrie Please check out the facts.
your departament it's Pretty cozy despite to be tiny, the space is very well optimized and I love the futuristic toilet. greetings from Colombia
that little loft bed space is so cool. That's my dream bedroom as a kid, if I knew it existed when I was little I would have asked my parents to build it
Dark passage & the door closes by its self ahaahha hilarious! Btw Good video thanx
My dream is to live in Japan.
Cute and cozy! Hi From California,
It might be a small home, but it sure has some pretty advanced stuff in it :P amazing.
japan is not that small, the problem is everyone moves to tokyo, making it too crowded.
True.for the same amount of money everyone pays in tokyo for a little apartment, you can have a BIGGER apartment in a semi-rural area or not so crowded area...
yeah destroy japans land scape and build concrete roads and buildings.
Lord Zeldoc What?
i was being sarcastic.
Di Blasi People move where jobs are and not everyone wants to lose the luxury of bigger cities (entertainment and get everything when they want)
Who wouldn't love lots of space and fresh air, with a garden next to an open field and the big city just around the corner xD
Really good descrption ever!, you sort of take care of every detail, thanks for sharing!!
Your apartment is amazing!! I can't wait to move to japan. Btw I like your voice o.o
Thank you for your suggestion about the rug burn!! I left my blowdryer on!!
I like how my apartment in Korea seemed a bit more open. I also had a spectacular view of the city and I was able to purchase nice furniture for my year there! Woah...the capsule area you're 'supposed' to sleep in sounds like a cool idea but I agree with you, I don't think I could sleep there either!
I am having headaches... Viewing the shaky video.
Thanks for sharing with us.
Many people complain about how tiny a Japanese apartment is but personal I think they are just not used to the size of it I don't know about other countries but in America the apartments are way bigger and I think that's why most Americans who live in a Japanese apartment think its really tiny and personally I really like the size of the apartment it looks cozy and I keeps reminding you that u have to clean up every now and then
I love the bedroom! Not a big fan of a lot of space, so the bedroom interest me the most!
That is the cutest looking neighborhood. those houses man.
when she said my the tour was so fast because her apartment is small but then the video is almost 25 minutes....
Nice video! But I can`t believe they expect you to sleep in that capsule hotel-like loft :/ Looks like Westgate is a company that looks after its staff which is good to see.
They say you shouldn't sleep with your feet facing the door unless you're going out in a coffin. Maybe you should sleep upstairs!
;-)
I always like to see the kitchen.
I'm currently teaching in Korea, it's pretty nice but I'm thinking of changing to Japan. Which one did you like better?
don't think I could sleep in the little hole either. would be good storage or if you had company. Lol Really cute apartment. good for you for traveling to other countries. that is something I wish I would have done when I was younger.
working for West Gate, how much you make a year? why do you only stay in one place for 3 months?
Very cool!
HOLD THAT CAMERA STILL, I AM GETTING NAUTIOUS!!!!!
DJDanceClassic NAUSEOUS
why you put a bag in shoe area ?
Don't you feel that dirty ? Inside & outside ?
Its such a cute apartment, i wish the have something like this here in europe
Man sheesh that climb up bedroom is epic. I'd love that.
I notice that there are bars and security gates all throughout the neighborhood and the security camera at the door. Is it a high crime area?

does the sink double as the shower faucet ?
Thx for sharing :)
This might come off random, but does anyone know where this is located and which neighborhood? I would live in a place like this in Japan :)
$1000 a month for that? Damn, even studio apartments are bigger than that.
Loïc Breton Does the rent cost include utilities?
+Alexandria certain companies buy up tiny apt far from transit lines and pitch them to dumb westerners as "all inclusive steals".
How much is your rent ?
Or rent for something that small??
Do you recommend working for west gate and what do you do. I am now interested in doing something like this.
It's so quiet, do many ride bikes? Your neighborhood is very neat and clean. I live in California and have exactly the same mail slot in my front door too. How many years did you study Japanese to become a teacher there? Great water closet!
It's ..it's claustrophobic...!Ok in the Japan is more expensive the "mt 2"....but beautiful modern and technological WC :)))
I have no idea how I got to Japanese apartment videos, but I can't believe your whole apartment is only the size of my bathroom!
hey! i liked your video! i lived in a bigger apartment when i was in japan.
i like this country a lot and if i could go back i would, i know i would.
thanks for posting it!
Great apt. tour video, did you manage to hide the burn and get your deposit back?

Seems tough drying clothes outside cant be practical in winter every one does though.
Actually as long as it isn't snowing at that moment most clothes dry faster in winter, If you do it right. The cold air dries super fast.
Though you need to mitigate the original wetness levels to avoid freezing solid in the northern climates.
so depends a bit on where I guess
Without proper airflow inside, your apartment or house will get mold because of the moisture. If possible, it's best to dry clothes outside^^ :)
depends where they are, the winters might not be cold. tokyo is nearly as far south as los angeles
10:34 You literally had the same bathroom in a hotel? How did they pick up an entire bathroom to move it from a hotel room to your apartment?
Video is wonderful . I like everything small . Because small is always beautiful . Exactly similar type of accommodation I would like to have . Thank u very much .
Why do they have those bars or gates on the windows?
I am an Army brat. I spent 12 years traveling around Europe. Sometimes you had a huge place to live and some times it was small. which do u like more korea or japan?

Thats exactly what i felt, scary life or maybe im just so in confort zone.
how much did apartment cost?
the place is so familiar to me because i used to lived in sagamihara kanagawa ken before 2003 feb until may the apartment we use to stay near the bus station the bus no we use to ride from sagamihara to upper area is bus 17. i use to work in autoliv japan in atsugi
Wow...super small apt but It has everything that u need...so organized...do u speak n write Japanese fluently???
Why you wear sun-glass at home?
What did you do with your piano?
Well, in a space deprived place specially in Asia, the tub is also used for shower. Mostly.
love your decor so cute.what do you do for a living.???..you mention moving every 3 months. beautiful neighborhood
I think the sleeping area (loft) is perfect.
awesome apartment viewing of your mini apartment maybe just not so much noise when you're walking with your phone other than that awesome feeling
Whoa, that sleeping area actually looks pretty cool...
Perhaps, but in the event of an earthquake, much easier to fix than fractured underground cabling.
That rule only applies if you're living with a family. If you're living alone, you can do whatever you want. Soap in the tub, whatever. The rule only applies when you're sharing bath water with other people.
I wouldn't have a problem living in a apartment like this...especially with a bath tub that deep. I kinda like tight places.
+Yellow fox Same
+Yellow fox thats what she said
+Gary Clark you mean that what he said? lol
Oh, and can't you buy one of those little combo washer/dryers? They're fairly popular in Europe.
I think clothes dryer aren't very popular in japan because of how much electricity they use, they would run up your electricity bill like crazy.
Yeah, I think I would have liked the apartment in Korea more but the one in Japan is so...cute! haha

at least you are upbeat about your apartment. unlike another person who has twice the livingroom area you do. and she keeps complaining on how small her apartment is on YT here. and how she can't do much of anything in it.

My bedroom is actually bigger then your whole apartment but I like it it's seems pretty nice
I think it's really cute .
I am an american living in Japan for the last 17 years and the apartment you are living are the cheapest in price and quality even most Japanese don't want to live in these places. aah this is my dream,, it sounds stupid but i just wanna live in a little apartment in a suburb in japan
