I really like how Zoids utilizes its premise to differentiate itself. Like, that climax with Fiona having to choose between the lives of all Zoids and the revival of the Death Saurer. It only works because Zoids are characterized almost like Pokemon rather than standard mecha. The way they play with scale is genuinely fun too. Throwing a Whale King or Ultrasaurus at us after being acclimatized to Liger-sized Zoids certainly leaves an impression and you don't really feel pushed out of the story because they're animals so naturally they can be Zoids.
Zoids CC was the only thing that made me wake up before 7am as a kid, and it took forever for the final 10ish episodes to air on tv because it just randomly stopped at one point. We only got he last episodes much later in a marathon that aired I think on Toonami, or at least what was its time block. To this day I remember the finale, mainly because of the simple speech at the end. Fiine/Fiona saying how she has to make this sacrifice to save the world, and Van's reply being just "Why don't we do it without the sacrifice, I will defeat the Death Saurer ". Bro knew he was HIM and I fucking love it!
I remember the first run when they showed it at 6am, and right after the episode where they take down the death-stinger, the next morning, they started back on the first episode, and I was so mad.
You are correct. Except I believe it was only the final four episodes that did not air immediately. I think it took about another 6 months after the series was done for them to finally do it. It may have even been shorter but when I was in 3rd and 4th grade, two or three months was like forever. 6 months..... forget about it, I could have been completely moved on into a new phase of life and not even been interested. So I don't think it was that long but it was a little while in childhood time. I was so pumped when those episodes came out. It was a Saturday afternoon I'm pretty sure. It was just 2 hours of being glued to the tv. I had my older brother ensure that I taped it on the VHS. I had some model kits handy for that
Zoids stands out to me because it seemed to hit that sweet spot between real- and super-robot. It’s like 93% real-robot, so the story feels grounded, but they save that last 7% for when it feels right and when they know the hype will land. Like the final shot on the reborn deathsaurer. If you were to hear, out of context, “Oh yeah, the hero loaded himself into a massive 3-mile long cannon that was not designed to shoot robots at all, but he did it anyway. Then the cannon somehow shot him perfectly through the enemy’s core and the hero was completely fine,” you’d just roll your eyes at the cartoony-ness of it all. But it doesn’t feel that way when you’re watching. With all the emotions, stakes, and the fact that Van and Raven have to work together to get it done, it makes it so that you can easily look past the sheer ridiculousness of the situation in the moment.
Funny story: when I was a kid, I got really into this show--to the point that I'd sneak downstairs at 6 in the morning to watch it--but when Cartoon Network got to a certain episode, they just looped back to the start. I didn't know there *was* an ending until I was a fully grown adult. What made it even worse was that the last episode they showed was the one where a Gravity Cannon shot is going off and the explosion is racing toward our heroes, and it ends on a cliffhanger. So for the rest of my childhood, I thought this show ended with all the characters dying. ._.
16:30 Slight Correction: That’s actually Hiltz’s Organoid Ambient (Which explains the violent nature). If you notice in that same scene Hiltz is smiling in the corner after Ambient knocks Raven out, because they’re the bonded pair. Shadow is later discovered by Dan Flyheight and his team still in his pod. Edit: Also if you look at 16:42 you can see Ambient’s Green Eyes vs Shadow’s Blue Eyes lol

New Century was really cool because it was simple. The biggest part of it was how there were so many lingering questions about the characters and the Zoids. Was the Berserk Fury really Raven’s? Was the Liger Zero actually Van’s? Is Bit the child or descendant of Van and Fiona? So many questions and cool how they never really answered them too.
I mean, Genesis was in K (and OE) and Chaotic Century/GF was in OE as one of the major players. They also had Leena and Naomi in their Gunsnipers from NC0 but sadly, no Bit or Brad.
I don't remember the name [might be one mentioned by @wingedswordslayer ] but I remember zoids being involved in a DS game, and I'm pretty sure that was a super robot wars game. Personally, New Century is my favorite, but it's a very different animal from Chaotic Century. And considering how much you liked Chaotic Century, that actually worries me what you'll think of the next one, which would be a real shame. Considering how much you've come to enjoy Zoids, the Monster Farmer franchise might also interest you, or at least interest you enough.
Yeah I remembered that I love Chaotic Century as a kid but by the time we got to Guardian force, I definitely remembered not liking it. Maybe it was the way too episodic nature of the season or that the filler was more obvious or that most of the characters got sidelined I don't know. But I will say that seeing the cast aged up was nice and Blade Liger being launched from a cannon will ALWAYS be cool as hell. Fun fact/useless chemistry fact, methane hydrate is a real thing but its not really a gas. Technically it's what's known as a clathrate, a material where a liquid or a gas is stuck between the crystal structure of a solid. In this case the hydrate means ice, because it refers to methane gas suspended in icesheets. It's a concern because if the ice melts it will release the methane gas which is a very potent greenhouse gas so it has climate scientists concerned.

The studio behind Zoids was sold by its owner Production IG to Sunrise after they used legal stunt work to strip the studio of their IP's so Namco Bandai Filmworks never got Nadesco just the actual studio and staff and rebranded it as Sunrise Beyond the new CGI division who did the Build Fighters spinoffs starting with Gundam Build Divers where plavasky fights where your real model was damaged in a Gundam fight if you took damage was over taken by a global hit Mmorpg version that scans you model and the mecha carnage is now purely digital it's depiction of the internet is realistic it's got a zeon hamster team leader of just mono eye suits from every show. And the big bad is a hacker using malware decals because he is mad about the sport going online he even hires non fan mercenaries to pilot his hacked Gunpla one in a Sabai gets owned because the ninja girl using a SD Musha Unicorn hides a full size one inside and he finds out NT-D exists and isn't cheating because the Unicorn Gundam was already cheating in its Anime.

Boo censorship!
Sieg(Zekes) design has always been the most consistent problem for me throughout the years. its always felt lackluster, very template-like.
This was the second Zoids series to run on Toonami they aired the second Japanese series first as Zoids, the season was officially named New Centery Zero featuring the Lieger Zero and it's many mission packs where the wars are over and now teams fight in a battle league using robot judges and a evil force that deploys black judges for illegal fights.
