Matt is my brother, and I am so very grateful he is recovering. It will take time and patience, but he will pull through. As Matt's older brother, I am so very lucky to have him as such a great example of right and positive. Not just lip service, prayers are going out for Matt.
You have a big heart Mr eveRide ❤️ Really wish I had a friend like you! Not because of the moneysupport because of your help and support to your friend, riding with injuries just to get him out with all your priorities! I'd do the same, all year, but not many other riders do. Great of you!
thats what my worse fear is, getting seriously injured and not being able to ride...like broken bone rush to the hospital injury. I lift pretty heavy weights and go to the gym everyday to prevent injury...seems so far it helps but im sure eventually it will happen, esp as I get older...but w.e for the time being to keep me up on the saddle! i crashed pretty hard...once at 40 MPH and just had some bruising for 2 weeks. maybe if I did not lift weights, I would have been to the hospital. another time I crashed into a tree at like 20 mph and my wrists were bruised for 3 weeks but nothing broke.. But at least he is alive and nothing too serious...i mean it is serious but not life threatening. Glad he is still here with us.
Nice work Tyler, I just finished up my donation and checked on the response and numbers of donations in 33 increments since the video posted. Looks like quite a spike that will hopefully continue. Really good to see the response of fellow riders helping those in need. Best of luck to Matt as well as yourself on a speedy and thorough recovery.
So nice gesture, it freakes me out how you guys may go bankrupt if anything bad happen to you in terms of illness or accidents, even if you have a good job. I feel fortunate to be in a full public health country, even if taxes here are the double of yours, but man the peace of mind is priceless. You need to fix this, then America will be really one of the top places to live. Hope for a quick recovery. Thanks for the videos.
Wow what a story and great gesture Tyler - you're a good bloke! ...and what a trooper Matt is too, thanks goodness it looks like he'll recover in the fullness of time - a valuable warning to all of us that what we do for fun can suddenly get serious....Best of luck to all of you - TMF
I work at a UK road racing circuit where we have medics and nurses on hand, a rescue unit, emergency medicines and all the kit, and for serious accidents like this we call for a helicopter. This is no criticism at all and I think you did really well, but I bet you learned a lot very quickly! Good luck to you all, hope you mend quickly.
DONE! Wow, that was one serious leg breakage! The kind when only a moto boot allows any kind of support. Glad he's on the mend. I'm glad my Tw200 keeps me slowed down LOL. Thanks for sharing Tyler.
Any updates on Matt? So sorry to see this. We had a cracked rib 'officer down' scenario a few weeks back. said Officer being... my wife. I have had a compound fracture wipe of my right femur. I almost lost my leg and had to spend almost 2 months in the hospital. I'm happy you guys rocked the scenario and Matt was able to get the help he needed. As always, thanks for the awesome videos my friend.
O-U-C-H! Worst-case scenario right there and open fracture of the femur. Glad you survived. Same thing happened to a high school friend driving to the beach with an idiot behind the wheel. She recovered, but it was a long painful road.
I love that you're doing this and it doesn't surprise me at all that you are.....that's just who you are Tyler and I hope you never stop being you! I can't unfortunately help him out right now but am sending great thoughts and all the support I can. Will do some sharing on our local groups to try and get the word out and see if we can make some small portion of the difference your video will make for this guy.
I feel for Matt. I got a mTBI when I was in Moab. Loved riding but it's been rough- like can't tie your shoes or finish a sentence rough. Fortunately, I leveraged time and great nutrition and slowly healed (mostly.) No way I am risking it again. Now when in Moab, we rent UTV's that have a seatbelt and roll cage and I take it easy. Many ways to safely enjoy the great outdoors!
Fantastic cause - looks like there's a lot of folks helping out because you Tyler - excellent work. Have to admit this situation is going to be playing with my head on my upcoming school'in weekender!
Thanks for the video Everide. We had a rider down situation this last month aswell. Well .... The ride down was me. Took a short ride close to camp over the sand dunes. Front tire dug in and flung me off the bars onto my shoulder. 3 Breaks in the clavicle later - I stood the bike up and rode it back. Sadly camera wasn’t rolling for channel video because of low light conditions. Ow well.
I took a dropoff badly last year and tore my ACL. Still going through rehab! Here's to your full recovery sir! I am looking forward to getting back on the bike, and maybe tempering myself a bit to realize that safety is more important than fun ;)
Oh man ! I can relate. Crashed twice. One broken shoulder one broken leg. Both times it took around three hours to get to the hospital. He'll heal , just takes time.
Tyler, it is good to know you and have ridden with you in the past. You and your family are awesome and I hope to ride with you again one day soon. - One of the Old Men from Enduros and Old Men series :)
I wish for speedy recoveries for all. You know I've been in the same situation with broken bones on the side of a trail so I super feel for everyone. I wouldn't take those experiences back at all. They've helped me to become a better rider. I know what NOT to do :p. Kudos for setting up the funding help and I can't wait to return! I wan't the whole gang back together again next time!
That's the best thing you can do after an accident, be positive and work your way back to health. I'm recovering from a broken leg myself. Ride safe everyone!
Thanks for sharing this story. Good that your mate is recovering OK. I have been through a similar experience to you in the past (i.e. the rescue guy). Lessons that I learned: 1) Carry an InReach or SPOT for comms. 2) Is alone, tell someone where you are going and ETA for returning back home. 3) Slow down before crests, dips and corners, then power on once you can see a good line. 4) Stay calm if you are the rescue guy going for help.
Another: Don't create a second (or third...) victim! Survey the scene before you enter. One of the first things they teach in first aid, and it's SO important! Which is EXACTLY what happened to Tyler. It's hard, but you REALLY have to slow down and realize you're running on adrenaline and you can badly compound the situation by incurring more injury. Case in point: At a bike race "back in the day." Sitting at start/finish line watching the other races finish. During the sprint, two riders tangled and went down hard (as is common) right at the line. A friend of one of the fallen riders witnessed the crash and IMMEDIATELY ran out onto the course to check on his friend. Didn't look, just reacted. Unfortunately, he ran out RIGHT into the path of another sprinting rider and got absolutely NAILED! BAM!!! I'm not sure, but it seemed like he got beaned by the incoming rider's helmet. And he, not on a bike, wasn't wearing a helmet (obviously). Either way, he went flying and landed on the asphalt unconscious. Blood was running from his ears. We thought he might be dead. EMS responded and took care of the guy and the situation. Turns out the other riders who had crashed (first crash, and subsequent one caused by him) were just fine. Shaken up and a bit of road rash, but fine (cyclists are used to a little road rash). But he, on the other hand, was seriously injured and was transported to the hospital. DON'T CREATE A SECOND VICTIM! Survey the scene and enter only when safe to do so! Don't over-react or behave rashly. Don't exceed your abilities, like trying to carry someone out. You'll only "create another victim." PS Ironically - but ultimately good - we saw the same guy the next weekend at the races, at the start/finish line! Turns out he recovered just fine.
Hey man tristan here I’m a medic and I can understand your reasoning for thinking you could load him into a truck but like you said you don’t know the extent of his injuries don’t downplay and injury rather take it seriously. Get emergency help immediately no matter what the problem is
The chest x-ray is not to verify your pain it is to see if you have a pnumo/hemothorax. ( Air or blood in the wrong spot) try a quick care or a routine Dr office visit $85 for the x-ray and $65 for the visit.
Godspeed for him... you didn't give details of your fall... hope all was well with you. Take care. If I visit US, I hope to get an appointment with you.
Man that’s the biggest thing going riding and why I’ll never go alone. I’ve been the rider down before and couldn’t imagine what would’ve happened if it wasn’t for riding with great people who sprung into action. Hopefully he gets back on the bike again!
Very interesting to see how many decisions you have to make and how much you have to consider as a rider in the US. Here in Germany or Europe in general I would immediately call for help, doctor, ambulance, helicopter etc. I guess we have it much easier here Glad this guy is all right :)
Matt is a first responder it was his decision and he took the pain quite well and wanted to wait for Tyler's wife otherwise we all carry the spot we could have had him airlifted right away
No need to call the entire army if things are stable. Besides Germany does not have remote areas like the ones shown on the video. I would add a backup radio such as HF/VHF handheld for the bikes and a mobile rig for the home base. You will have to study a bit for the tests.
Rob Fern over 30% of Germany is forest 🌳;) and its pretty common that you will get a helicopter here when you have a motorcycle crash somewhere far from the bigger cities. But I understand what you meant :)
I finally got a personal rescue beacon after a good scare - broken down, hot, lost and out of water. I'm 66 and ride alone on a pig of a KLR in some sketchy places. The PRB is very comforting to have.
33 sent!! Great job Tyler. Get well soon Matt! And Tyler, if you’re ever back in Cali, I finally have a place for my family and I to live which means after three years of storage I have my bike back and am going on my first trip since then this March!
I really enjoy your videos and I'm really glad you went such a way with your channel. I am one more convert to dual sport, big thanks to you! All the best
Questions! He had serious boots on. Would he have had an amputation otherwise? Is there greater protection available? I wonder if dudes in groups take greater risks. Particularly when a drone is flying overhead to get that hero shot where you catch big air. I seem to wipe out a lot less (a lot) when I'm on my own. I'm coming from a different context here. Forgive me but what does this man's occupation have to do with a weekend recreation accident? Is the healthcare provided for public servants that bad in Utah?
I agree with you. I think riding in a group is way more dangerous. You're more focused on what everyone else is doing and trying to keep up with them. In my opinion, it's much safer and more fun to ride alone. Regarding healthcare, in America accidents like this are life changers. This guy is lucky because he works for the government. People who are not employed by the government are really screwed in situations like this. You will automatically lose your job; and, when that happens, your wife will automatically file for divorce, and turn your children against you. Welcome to America...
Hi. I suprise of high quality of your videos. Please can you explain how you get it? Hardware? Software? RUclips premium? Thanks always a pleasure to watch your videos you are lucky to live in this endless skies country 👍😁
This happened to me awhile back, well almost. Dislocated my shoulder all by myself out in the woods. Didnt even habe my cell phone with me. Luckily I was in my own woods at home. Video on my channel too.
A big plus for racing is having safety personal on scene ASAP. And I have needed their help more than a few times including waking up in the ER. Not having them is also something I'm very aware of when doing ADV type rides. Riders need to be realistic about risk management, especially those who often ride alone.
Hope Matt is doing well. Great RUclips channel. I will definitely chip in for Matt. I am a fellow Enduro rider from Arizona. Been riding for a long time. Did two of the accidents in the video happen on the 701? Same bike I ride.😥
I wish him a quick recovery and hope he is back on the trails soon! Also, your videos are beautiful. I have tried and tried to create videos that look even close to yours and it is very difficult. Great job and keep it up!
Love your channel! Please, next time call 911 and get emt's on the way. Doesn't matter if you meet them halfway. Brain injuries can take awhile to present, adrenaline can mask things. And I bet a helicopter could beat your wife and bring an ER nurse and Doc with it. I hate to say it, but you're not trained or have the equipment to medically evaluate and treat people with serious injuries. Dont convey for people to take matters into their own hands like this, CALL 911!
My strongest recommendation is that off-road riders always ride with another. I took as spill and fractured my left wrist and ankle all alone. I had two upright my bike, get it into gear (clutch on the left) and ride, thank God only three miles home. If it had been a lot worse, I would of been AWOL with no one knowing my location.
Watching the drone footage and seeing the rider down was a shock. Things started to race through my head on what to do. Glad he's going to be ok. As for you someone needs to invent a rib protection system for you.
Not everyone knows the pure joy of living on the edge. Dont hate those do. They will break their backs for you. Nothing wrong in living a protected life either.
@@kevingumfory what are you talking about? Living on the edge with a wife and kids at home. Then you get hurt and can't pay your bills. That's okay? All could have been avoided going ten mph slower. Half wit.
@@jimgordon3468 sorry but you're being a bit extreme here. Every time you drive on the freeway at night at 70mph, you're "living on the edge." You're overdriving your headlights and there's NO WAY you can identify and stop in time for an unexpected obstacle. Like a stranded car in your lane. Or a tree down. A driver was killed about three years ago on a local freeway. A tree fell and the driver was rounding a corner at the usual speed that we all drive. Oops, tree in the way! No way to stop or avoid it. Slammed into it and died. Sucks. And this is the reality of driving high speeds on the freeway today. We all do it, but accept the risks. And that's "normal" driving, which doesn't address all the other riskier things we engage in. Mountain biking. Road riding in traffic. Skating. Rock climbing. According to your post, a parent should forgo ALL potentially hazardous activities. Got it. Problem is, you get obese on the couch, develop type-2 diabetes and die anyway! Mitigate and be smart. Ride in control. But don't pretend "everything is under control." It isn't and there's no way it ever will be.
I had every intention of joining you on one of your first rides of this year but a oncoming drunk driver swerved into me in November and destroyed my leg and my mint condition 93 klr
I was thrown from my DR650SE and landed on stomach in a ditch followed by bike landing on top of me. The smell of fuel with heat of the engine on my back. My phone was in chest pocket, may as well had been two mile away. Boy, did l ever have to do some squirming...
This is one of the situations that scares me to death in dualsport riding, i know you can easy have worse on the road but the idea to being stuck somewhere all alone with broken bones scares me a-lot. Imagine if he tried to ride all by himself, thankfully he didn’t , wish he a speedy recovery.
I been victim to those trenches too , I had to put old tires and stuff warning others in the desert not to hit it hard had to wash out and slide the bike
As a paramedic the one thing that you should have done was try to remain calm, rushing to get cell service was a mistake imo, the last thing you needed was 2 people with a trama. But that being said you really did well, for the Most part everyone was calm, you had a plan in place and that plan works in 99% of cases. I'm glad everyone is okay tho and I hope I'm not coming off high and mighty. I've seen to many mistakes from people rushing to get something
Almost a year later, just before Thanksgiving. Matt is doing great. Not back on bikes, but back to full duty at work.
Matt is my brother, and I am so very grateful he is recovering. It will take time and patience, but he will pull through. As Matt's older brother, I am so very lucky to have him as such a great example of right and positive.
Not just lip service, prayers are going out for Matt.
Hi Sir, how is he now?
Wondering the same
Hope he makes full recovery! Your an awesome guy with a heart of gold.
Yikes! Lord be with him, give him comfort and healing. And bless you for helping to take care of him.
Amen.
You have a big heart Mr eveRide ❤️

Holy crap!! What a crazy story!! Good on all of you for responding quickly, safely, and calmly. Best to Matt on the recovery!!
So nice gesture, it freakes me out how you guys may go bankrupt if anything bad happen to you in terms of illness or accidents, even if you have a good job. I'm In. Get Well Soon Matt. Never met you but: THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE!
I went down hard yesterday too! Broke my wrist and elbow! Hope your friends get better soon!
I just checked the progress on gofundme. So proud to be a part of this community.
DONE!
Wow, that was one serious leg breakage! The kind when only a moto boot allows any kind of support. Glad he's on the mend. I'm glad my Tw200 keeps me slowed down LOL. Thanks for sharing Tyler.
As a dual sport/adventure rider and being part of a law enforcement family this really hits home for me. Donation and good vibes sent!
You Are an awesome guy! Much respect to you. Hope everyone has a speedy recovery.
Any updates on Matt? So sorry to see this. We had a cracked rib 'officer down' scenario a few weeks back. said Officer being... my wife. I have had a compound fracture wipe of my right femur.
Heard about this. Donovan and Cody live just down the street from me. Great cause and all the best to Matt.

Bad ass man, I think we’ve all been there . Glad he is getting back up. I just a nasty spill and also broke a rib. Keep up the good work man

Great vid and happy to support a fellow rider. Thanks for making us all aware.
Hey man tristan here I’m a medic and I can understand your reasoning for thinking you could load him into a truck but like you said you don’t know the extent of his injuries don’t downplay and injury rather take it seriously. Get emergency help immediately no matter what the problem is
Wow wow and wow! Hope you guys are healing quick. $33 donated! Keep the wheels up!
I just noticed both of those DRZs in your garage have LTZ heads no? I mean Same same but drzs don’t have the Allen bolt on the side or am I mistaken ?
First ever go fund me donation. I can’t wait to see how much this video helps raise for him. Good luck in your recovery; bro.
Did the fall at 2:38 require a trip to the hospital ?
Nope.. That was a soft landing, i did break some plastic on the bike tho..
that's awesome, hope he makes a quick and healthy recovery and can ride again soon
Just donated! Tyler this was a fantastic idea. And I hope you both have a full recovery.

Take care. If I visit US, I hope to get an appointment with you.
nice video but you gotta tell us what safety gear he was wearing
Man that’s the biggest thing going riding and why I’ll never go alone. I’ve been the rider down before and couldn’t imagine what would’ve happened if it wasn’t for riding with great people who sprung into action. Hopefully he gets back on the bike again!

Was he wearing adventure boots or MX style boots
Looks like mx

Hey Tyler. I'm just coming across this. How is he doing? Does he still need donations because I'd be happy to help
Heal up quick! I love how positive and genuine you are Tyler. $33 sent
I really enjoy your videos and I'm really glad you went such a way with your channel. I am one more convert to dual sport, big thanks to you! All the best

Very sorry to hear this. I will do my part to get the word out.
Good job on helping Matt --it's really unfortunate that he had so many injuries..$33 is a done deal...
That is awesome of you for what you are doing for Matt. I couldn’t donate to a fellow LEO fast enough!
Wow he got torn up! So glad to hear everyone came out the other side.
Great stuff man. Awesome scenery, love the desert. Best wishes to Mat and his family.
its very unfortunate but it happens to the best of us. Hope he gets well soon my prayers are with him and can't wait to see him back on a bike!
I wish him a quick recovery and hope he is back on the trails soon! Also, your videos are beautiful. I have tried and tried to create videos that look even close to yours and it is very difficult. Great job and keep it up!
Wishing Matt a speedy recovery.
Question - Do you recommend Inreach Mini for solo Motorcycle traveller doing wilderness & backcountry routes?
What a rough crash! Godspeed on your healing Donovan!
Was going to say.
Great idea Tyler - Just donated $33.00 and best wishes for a speedy recovery for Matt!!
Glad to see it wasn't any worse. Glad hes still smiling
Seeing the amount of 33/66 and more donations coming up is pretty sweet!
definitely moving! can't believe how many are posted within just an hour of the video going up!
Donated. Hope it isn't too long before he gets back out there. Respect.
Is this the guy I heard of on a recent episode of Motorcycle Misfits, Recycle Garage podcast?
Watching the drone footage and seeing the rider down was a shock. Things started to race through my head on what to do. Glad he's going to be ok. As for you someone needs to invent a rib protection system for you.
Well done
$99 bucks sent. Thanks for letting us help eveRIDE
Get well soon Matt. Thank you for "riding the extra mile” for the fallen rider Tyler.
From one LEO and rider to another; heal up quick and stay positive!
Why would you fly around corners you don't know? Asking for trouble.
@@dudeonbike800 your analogy is lacking
I had every intention of joining you on one of your first rides of this year but a oncoming drunk driver swerved into me in November and destroyed my leg and my mint condition 93 klr
Right around 9:40 it gets super hard to hear you. The music is louder than your voice. Great work on helping someone though!
Best wishes Matt, get well soon.
I been victim to those trenches too , I had to put old tires and stuff warning others in the desert not to hit it hard had to wash out and slide the bike
Man your a great dude!
Wow Tyler what a great idea. I just sent $33 your way.
ditto!
Get well soon Matt! Keep being great!
Dude you’re just too cool!!!!! It would be an honor to ride with you someday! Matt shall shred again I hope! Ok time to go scrape up some coin......
just another great vid! thanks for it, man thats always a big fear on a moto! glad he is OK
I am just starting a new project ! I’m street legalizing a 1987 Yamaha BW350 . And I could use a trail tech for the speedo !!! I will donate !
Thanks for the reminder
What’s your opinion on the Yamaha WR125r? Great video btw!
