That people like Putin in Russia, Orban in Hungary. MBS in Saudi Arabia etc. are interested in taking away our freedom in a moment that world does not care about them at all. As well as what kind of imperial ambitions those people have. We are just normal citizents. You really should do more research. It's a totally fact free analysis of the situation that led to this invasion. First up Ukraine has an abundance of resources and is the bread basket of Europe. The 2014 revolution was a coup by the US. Victoria Nuland is on record discussing who they were going to put in place as the new government. They replaced a neutral president, who was negotiating with both the EU and Russia but wasn't keen on the neoliberal doctrine the US/EU wanted to impose via the IMF. They replaced him with a rabid anti-Russian government that contained neo-nazis. This undemocratically installed government then proceeded to bombard the people in Eastern Ukraine for 8 years that nobody in t the West cared about. The current president Zelensky was elected to bring peace and implement the Minsk agreement and failed to do so. Meanwhile Russia has been objecting for years about NATO expansion towards its borders. NATO basically only exists to menace Russia in service to US imperialist aims, under the Wolfowitz doctrine. The US has continuously poked the bear in the eye and now the bear has reacted.

I saw the interview with the Ukrainian mayor with the blurred out picture of a prominent Ukraine Nazi on the wall behind the mayor. The constant US provocation of Russia over several years led to this invasion. There is no moral high ground to be had on either side. This ridiculous comic book portrayal of Putin as an evil Bond villain is a diversion from the actual facts and historical context that led to this point. Corruption in Ukraine does not give the right for the US to overthrow the democratically elected government, especially with the help from neo-nazis like the Azov Briggade and C14.

Who are driving this conflict between Russia and Ukraine from the US?
      They are:
      (1) Federal Reserve - The privately owned central bank that prints petro-dollars which are losing values
      (2) Military Industrial Complexes - The manufacturers of weapons and navy ships which enforce the petro-dollars
      (3) Mainstream Media - The brainwashing machines like CNN, NYTimes, WaPo, NBC, ABC, CBS, Fox, Google, Facebook etc. which are spreading fake news and rumors
      (4) Intelligence Services - CIA and NGO that start the color revolutions aimed at overthrowing governments
All those institutions or organizations in the US are controlled by one unique powerful and rich group (Just look up who owns Federal Reserve, Media, CIA, NGO, and military industry of the US). We the ordinary people of the world are the slaves of this powerful and unique group..

This guy, is making Putin to complicated.
He is a very simple man.
Remember, he is ex KGB, his training tells him,
The end justifies the means, empathy is a weakness and lying is just part of the job. Whatever it take to meet the said goals.
Going into Ukraine is something he has done to other countries a number of times. He even went into Ukraine before and no one batted an eyelid.
So of course, going into Ukraine was a natural choice, especially when its neighbour has been a naughty boy and giving him some trouble over the years.
What he didn't expect was a west that acts different than in the past. Why we are here in this situation.
Putin, only understands strength, in fact it is the only thing he respects, and this is how we need to respond to him. Or he will keep doing whats in his character.

Invading Afg to get Bin Laden after 9/11, few democrats opposed it. Bill Clinton intervened in Kosovo to prevent ethnic cleansing/genocide. *It's hardly like we're doing nothing". We're arming the Ukrainians with ammo, Javelins and Stingers, just like we did in 1980s Afg against the USSR. BTW, the USSR and China supported N Vietnam and VC against us, and they didn't lose a single soldier in that war. OTOH, outright going into Ukraine would mean war between NATO and Russia. So far, we're basically correct, although I wish we'd send the Ukrainians more arms and medical aid.

Youngsters will learn words they will not understand.
    Children from India will ask:
    What is hunger?
    Children from Alabama will ask:
    What is radical segregation?
    Children from Hiroshima will ask:
    What is the atomic bomb?
    Children at school will ask:
    What is war?
You will answer them. You will tell them:
Those words are not used anymore, like stagecoaches, galleys, and slavery. Words no longer meaningful.
That is why they have been removed from dictionaries.

I love how most of the political analysts just brush away the significance of Russian invasion of Georgian republic in 2008.
Is it easier to say that 2014 was the wakeup call just because Russia grabbed bigger piece of land from Ukraine as opposed to mere 20% of Georgian territory?
Is it easier to support a post-USSR country when it borders EU states?
Or is it easier to say that US foreign policy turned a blind eye and downplayed what Kremlin was up to only once, in 2014?
It was right after the invasion of Georgia that Kremlin started pouring in billions into their military spending. That didn't indicate Kremlin's lofty designs going forward ?
Bush/Obama's foreign policy totally failed europe's security and left Ukraine and Georgia high and dry, (after giving them the false hope of becoming NATO/EU family members) in their existential crisis of our century.
I fully support Ukraine and the truth is, if Ukraine was not bordering EU countries, the military support and rhetoric unfortunately wouldn't be there.
Don't get me wrong, US should definitely pick their battles, there are only so many resources available at a time, but disregarding the Eastern Europe since Putin's second term was the biggest mistake of the US foreign policy and that's why we are where we are right now.

As a European and inhabitant of the country that has nuclear weapons targeted at Russia, at the same time hosting the headquarters of NATO (militarily & politically) I want to point out as a Belgian citizen a few facts that your various interviews have brushed under the carpet it seems: 1) Putin demanded to join NATO (but that request was rejected by the Bush admin); 2) Putin demanded EU membership for Russia (also rejected). This is never raised in the characterisation of Putin by your guests and that really strikes me as being historically incorrect. Another narrative to which i don't agree is that Zelenskyy is this great politician. Zelenskyy is in essence the ordinary streetwise guy that came to power on 1 thing only: i will fight corruption in this country. Doing that he kicked a few oligarch Russian-leaning in the teeth in his country. At that time his people saw he was not a politician changing the tune for bribe money. And then comes the invasion with Russian conscripts that were not even informed about it. Everyone feels stabbed in the back, with the outrage of the Ukrainans being so huge, 'cos it's done by their Slavic brothers. That feeling, this unbelievable outrage and anger, is what Zelenskyy kept in Kyiv. The streetwise guy thought - i will not be the rat in all this and stay.. put. 3 weeks later Putin should admire that, sack a few generals and find a decent solution between the 2 of them. A prosperous neutral Ukraine will be beneficial for both countries and for the whole world. Zelenskyy should be viewed, also by Putin, as not this other cowardly western politician. On the contrary: a formidable Slavic statesman that rose to the occasion in the country next door.

What a bunch of bull. I think you are totally ignoring the history of the area. Maybe if the US would get out of the business of regime change. Why is Ukraine so important to NATO and the US?

NATO must help Ukraine militarily. They must send planes at least, for principles, morality, we can all be in this same position and we would ask for exactly what the Ukrainians are asking for and it is totally reasonable and logical, but above all give our hearts to the cause.

No, the Nato shouldn't send plain. Ukraine and Russia are not member. NATO they've rouls to follow.
They have to negotiate otherwise if Ukraine is not able, how and what for they want to be member in the EU.
They have not been able to resolve the problems in their own country with their Russian brothers. Why we shell send our children in this local war.
It is like with the virus witch became after local infection (endemic) a Pandemie.

We can help Ukraine. Let's all contact our government representatives to urge more support to help Ukraine drive out the invaders. Ask them to send F16 aircraft and longer-range precision fires (like ATACMS). Send them an email, text, or old-fashioned letter (best option), call them on the phone, post on social media, etc. Let's do our part to maintain and strengthen the national consensus in our own countries to give more support for Ukraine.

It's obvious Putin's whining and bitching about NATO, NATO "expansionism," etc, was really about him attacking Ukraine without NATO getting in the way.

For me PBS over the years has mostly provided a balanced none political report. Not always but one of the best.
60 minutes in my view is one of the worst. It's like the reporters have to complete an exam on how to follow the cult of who ever is the CEO of the day.

Balanced drivel perhaps. Why not get the opinion here of, I dunno, some MMA fighter, or a UPS truck driver? If PBS can’t be bothered to get actual scholars, military and intel officers, govt officials, or foreign policy journalists, and give us a political columnist instead, why not get a bartender? Set em up Joe, tell me about Putin.

Public Broadcasting used to receive tax dollars. Republicans didn't likey, likey the few million, unsure if they get ANY? Donations important, think Bezos may have saved Frontline, not sure though? My local station doesn't run that I can find, selections have a 'mission'. Can't be lack of donations. Sad, used to have the BEST! New director finally, hope selections will improve?

you have to start discerning the difference between bias (which is inherent to everything at all times) and propaganda (manipulative tactics to cajole minds into a particular thought process dishonestly) .
All opinions are biased, not all opinions are propaganda.

there is simply no Russia without the historical heritage of Kyivan Rus, which russian kings stole from Ukrainians back in the 17th century when they started to call themselves Russians, instead of Moscovians... Kyiv is basically Slavic Jerusalem, and there is going to be only one nation that ends up calling itself Rus! Ukraine=Rus!
