Fact: The violinists knew that the crew needed life boats so they stayed on the Titanic to play this song for the last time. The engineers were still in the ship trying to make it afloat for as long as possible. These people are real heroes even if they aren't mentioned in our history the world still remembers them

Easily one of them. I cannot choose - this, the old couple or the mother with her children. The hardest three. But somehow - as a violinist respect I feel for Hartley is immeasurable. And the fact that he held his case when his body was found - I'm speechless.

darin darine quite a lot of the passengers of titanic just accepted their fate and didn’t try to get on to life boats once they seen almost all of them gone. There’s another scene in titanic where the guy said “we will go down like men” that was also true. He didn’t want to get in a life boat and be seen a coward so went down with the ship.

"No one has greater love than this, to lay down one’s life for one’s friends." (John 15:13). Wallace Hartley and band members played beyond the sinking of the Titanic. They played as they entered Heaven and played as each was praised for his earthly deeds. They play for us now as they continue to touch all those who recount their singular act of heroism.

This took place more then 100 years ago and this music has always put goose bumps all over my body. I don’t claim to understand music or what the message is, but there is a message and only from the heart will you be able to understand it. Not all is what it seems. In the end it’s not about individualism. It’s about the people around you.

I have heard this hymn played and sung many many times but I can't believed my eyes flooded with tears, when I saw the Titanic scene!
When nothing else could calm the fearful passengers Wallace Hartley (May His Soul Rest In Peace.) created that peace, joy in sorrow and comfort even when faced with the reality of inevitable death, which he had within himself and we can have the same even during this difficult year.
Probably one of the most touching scenes I have seen yet...

After I watch Titanic, I cried a lot in this scene, now i play violin and it's a song that i always get emotional when i play it. (Sorry for my poor english haha)

what happened, or did happen, became a legend, dreams of a better world went down with this ship, I also think that this ship should never have been entered, no matter what treasures have been found, it is a cemetery and cemeteries are not plundered, so it was always a legend, each of these people who died should rest in peace and not because of porcelain dishes, In my dreams, the orchestra still plays this melody, the Titanic, which is something mystical, mysterious, very sad, and yet it has become a legend. May the dead rest in peace and find their way to heaven, may God feed you at His table and let the orchestra play, but teach us humans not to capitalize on this death. ....

Whats sad is that the song is actually used in my church as a death song for whom has passed away. So when I heard it playing I can see the lyrics clear in my head. And it made me cry

Here we go again...goosebumps..:/ really, men of honor..and i don't know why is this sad sorrowful music..just so good?? It's like all the emotions of all the people there, young, adult and the old, feeling that they're together in their last hours...also when they turn and he starts playing, and they come back..i mean waw, this scene was one of the best ones in the whole movie for me personally. I can't hold my tears, while thinking how they had to come to terms with their fate and just go ahead and play that beautiful yet sad music, knowing it was their end, yet finding peace in the fact that they are together till the end. And that old couple shown for few seconds if you remember from the movie, where they lie in bed, waiting to be swallowed by water...everything put together, I would willingly give my life for these unknown sorrowful people. It just wasn't right. Just wasn't. Also when you go digging about it, you find hints about being an inside job.. something about politics.. dunno anyways, but if it's true I truly, truly hope that the people responsible suffer in hell each day, each second.
