    This was AWESOME! Honestly I think you summed up this game better than I've ever been able to. Thank you so much for covering it!

    Coincidentally, I'm trying to fit Lancer mech fabricators into Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced as six major guilds. Just playing with the concept. I've already fleshed out the setting and a bunch of dungeon ideas. Then, a perfect system appears.

    I have enough to run already, including more Lancer!
    *downloads anyways*

    The combat phases really intrigues me, seems like the sort of thing you'd find in a modern skirmish wargame.
    Man, Lancer has really kickstarted a renaissance of tactical TTRPGs. I don't even know that I would enjoy playing them, but I think it's really cool.

    I had the idea at one point to have a Lancer game where players could choose to be an anime science-fantasy hero instead of a person piloting a robot. My initial thought was to combine Lancer with Icon, but since this game seems to lean into being Fantasy Lancer even harder than Actual Fantasy Lancer does, it might be a better fit.

    I already have too many TTRPGs in my collect that I'll probably never be able to play, so unfortunately...
    ... I'll have to add this one to my collect too.

    Sounds like the kind of RPG I've been looking for in my 3 years as a player and GM... I wasted a lot of time looking for the ideal system for High Fantasy (Although not so much with GURPS hehe). Thanks to this channel I found it... Thank you amigo.

    Coming back here after the book released is kinda surreal and also interesting seeing how little in concept was changed compared to the playtests. Formatting looks a lot nicer in the final release. I think I liked the thematics of imprinting a crystal with your current loadout and then recustomizing a lot more neat than the final version where it's more of a cross dimensional communication, but that's splitting hairs and something I can change in my own game anyways since it's just thematics.
    Great video ^-^ would be interested to see you cover the classes and/or ancestries of the final product.

    Huh, wonder how similar this will be to ICON

    • @11dragonkid11
      @11dragonkid11  2 года назад +4

      ICON modular systems is more like, 'hey here's a bunch of really cool techniques your Icon can do!', while Beacon system lets you modify things right down to the gear to use.
      So in my opinion, if you want a more flashy adventure, go for Icon, Beacon feels like a more traditional adventure TTRPG where everything you carried matters, it's just different feels I guess!

    You should check out Delver 2e by Natalie the Knife sometime! It’s a Dark Souls 2 inspired TTRPG that is about being a adventurer in a world that is forgetting itself just as you are forgetting yourself,, but maybe the dungeon has answers somewhere… :)

    I really like the idea, a lot of cool concepts and fantasy archetypes that seem fun to mess with, but something that's not clear to me in the combat rules is, since the players and NPC's take turns acting, if a player chooses to act in bolster or channel, and the NPC who would act first on the enemy team doesn't want to do anything until Brawl or Full Attack, does that mean any PC's that want to skirmish or reposition are forced to wait until Delay to take their planned turn?

    • @11dragonkid11
      @11dragonkid11  2 года назад +7

      Nope, it goes by phase to phase order, for example, one phase, player do something, NPC doesn't, next phase, NPC get to do something first before player can do something, but if they don't do something, it doesn't matter for the other side.

  • @christhiancosta1844

    It seems really cool
    But multiphase combat round seems a bit complex to me, specially 8 damn phases - like, damn that's a lot

    They did away with negative race traits in 5e DnD bro.

    • @11dragonkid11
      @11dragonkid11  2 года назад +13

      Oh no, 5e DnD racism bullshitery goes way deeper than that...

    • @garvinanders2355
      @garvinanders2355 2 года назад

      @@11dragonkid11 I'm not saying DnD doesn't have issues with sexism and racism. I'm saying that a specific mechanic has been done away with.
      Now let me be clear if you're saying you don't want to play DnD because of, just for example the incredibly problematic treatment of Drow and Orcs. Or one of the many other issues. I think that's a perfectly valid stance and I respect you and your reasons for doing so. However, that's not what I got out of your video. If that's what you meant, then I missed the message.
      My stance isn't that 5e has solved DnD problems with race and gender because it hasn't. My stance is that it doesn't have negative modifiers for PC races. Does that fix everything, no of course not. But that is the one thing you brought up that isn't accurate.

      @@garvinanders2355 A single edition of D&D did a thing on paper, yet still has pretty concerning and racist framing and treatment of fantasy races.
      Surely we should spend energy clarifying or defending TTRPG with the most bigoted impact currently and historically for marginal improvements. We must be nuanced about the tons of bigotry by the bigotet company maming a bigoted game.
      Surely it wouldn't be a better use of our time and energy to promote and participate in developers and games that don't do that while divesting ourself from bigotry.
