Been waiting for this album since the brilliant Revolution Radio came out and was so excited for an album with the same power and bpm of American Idiot, 21st century, and Revolution Radio....... But this sounds like a slightly better version of Warning, without a genuine classic GD standout song. This is a BeBop/Surf-rock/Hot-rodders album, the first half of which sounded like it was written by The Offspring, using bits of American, 21st uno dos tré and Revolution, jumbled it up and threw it up into qubase, with the track bpm's, and sound production settings on "a bit rockier than Warning". I genuinely hope that It's a piss take, and the REAL Album, not this EP that's an insult to American Idiot (the cover, constant lyrical references and even outright melodical rips). I was wanting to love this with all my heart and soul as I've followed Green Day, my favourite band, since 1991, so I know a thing or 2 about their music. Okay, I admit that when played live, many of the songs will be transformed ala MINORITY, but we can't always listen to the album live, so as a stand alone album, number 13, I just can't help but feel let down, and MY heart has been stabbed, by the very band that mended it when it was stabbed 29 years ago! (yep, I'm 46 in 7 days). I still love you Billie Mike and Tre, but please, appease you're LONG TERM fan base, as well as trying to gain new ones. Peace-out, Goatboy 🐐

been a while since this first dropped, I'm still coming back to watch the music video. Honestly I love it. They've been making music so long and it's cool to hear all of the different sounds and experimentation. As long as they enjoy making music, it will always be amazing.

I love how this new Green Day song seems to be commenting on the influence of social media in our lives, regardless of what generation you came from but especially for those who grew up with the platform and technology. Nothing bleak, quite upbeat but also sublime in its delivery

They never want to be just one thing, one genre. They want to expand and revolutionize their sound. In any creative pursuit, you need to evolve or die. Green Day lives on and accumulates fans from all generations and walks of life. They're rebels and conscious influencers who have from the very start never wanted to be pigeonholed. And isn't that what punk is about?

This album will forever remain special to me; as the most significant pre-covid thing in my life since I remember listening to this one a lot just before the world changed due to the pandemic! Listening to this album today brings me back to those easy days of early 2020... Times change, but Green Day keeps staying awesome!

I'm surprised by how many are saying that this doesn't sound like Green Day at all. Yes, the music itself is definitely a different style on the surface. But the lyrics not only give the song plenty of irony, but there's also plenty of the same bite that could be found in American Idiot.
I just wish they'd channel that into another album, father of all was an absolutely awful album by the standard of green day. An entire album of forgetful directionless music designed to appeal. Well, the reason is that in the scene when the security guard shows up, behind him there is a shield and a uniform from a popular football (soccer) club of Ecuador.
Everyone getting all uptight about Green Day trying a different style needs to realize that they've been making music for 32 years. You can't expect them to stick with the same style forever. They were possibly feeling burnt out to some extent, so they decided to shake things up a bit. Nothing wrong with that. Artists need to shift occasionally, or else things will just become monotonous. EDIT: I should add: Shaking it up isn't always going to be a smooth process. After all it is often referred to as experimenting, so it won't be amazing every time. Hell some people don't even do it to get a good result, at least not as the primary objective every single time. Some people literally just need to change it up once in a while to not get burnt out. Ya know what you get from a burnt out artist? A loss of quality that becomes more consistent the longer they remain in that rut. So in the long run it may very well benefit the very same fans that are complaining about it. Now obviously I'm not an expert on this, these are just my own thoughts on the matter. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were potentially feeling like they were just going through the motions and had to do something different. They don't owe you a specific type of music, it's their band at the end of the day. If they feel differently, that's up to them. Just chill out my dudes.

For me, Dookie will always be my favourite Green Day album (it will never be topped, not even by American Idiot). But this is still pretty good and I like how they’re keeping up with today’s reality and while I love the old Green Day, I wouldn’t want them to be doing the same thing over and over again or doing the same as other artists or groups (which is why a lot of today’s rap sucks, but yet some is incredibly overrated) I like when bands like Green Day experiment because it gives them a new sound and makes them sound more versatile. That’s why I like American Idiot and also why I’d rather this over another Anti-political album which they’ve already done about 3 times already. I like change, and while this may not be the best change, I still like it and I applaud Green Day for it

I'm surprised by how many are saying that this doesn't sound like Green Day at all. Yes, the music itself is definitely a different style on the surface. But the lyrics not only give the song plenty of irony, but there's also plenty of the same bite that could be found in American Idiot.
I just wish they'd channel that into another album, father of all was an absolutely awful album by the standard of green day. An entire album of forgetful directionless music designed to appeal.
What I think we all want is an album with the political bite of American idiot in modern day mixed with green days unique style

Since more lead guitar gets added in mike dirnts basslines have gotten less creative so they really need that 3 piece synergy that they had on past records to make something really good

Everyone getting all uptight about Green Day trying a different style needs to realize that they've been making music for 32 years. You can't expect them to stick with the same style forever. They were possibly feeling burnt out to some extent, so they decided to shake things up a bit. Nothing wrong with that. Artists need to shift occasionally, or else things will just become monotonous.
EDIT: I should add: Shaking it up isn't always going to be a smooth process. After all it is often referred to as experimenting, so it won't be amazing every time. Hell some people don't even do it to get a good result, at least not as the primary objective every single time. Some people literally just need to change it up once in a while to not get burnt out. Ya know what you get from a burnt out artist? A loss of quality that becomes more consistent the longer they remain in that rut. So in the long run it may very well benefit the very same fans that are complaining about it. Now obviously I'm not an expert on this, these are just my own thoughts on the matter. But I wouldn't be surprised if they were potentially feeling like they were just going through the motions and had to do something different. They don't owe you a specific type of music, it's their band at the end of the day. If they feel differently, that's up to them. Just chill out my dudes.
Besides, their fanbase doesn´t decide whether they´ve reached their limit or not, they should keep exploring all they want

For me, Dookie will always be my favourite Green Day album (it will never be topped, not even by American Idiot). But this is still pretty good and I like how they’re keeping up with today’s reality and while I love the old Green Day, I wouldn’t want them to be doing the same thing over and over again or doing the same as other artists or groups (which is why a lot of today’s rap sucks, but yet some is incredibly overrated) I like when bands like Green Day experiment because it gives them a new sound and makes them sound more versatile. That’s why I like American Idiot and also why I’d rather this over another Anti-political album which they’ve already done about 3 times already. I like change, and while this may not be the best change, I still like it and I applaud Green Day for it

I like Revolution Radio, I enjoy Father Of All's lighthearted vibe and I don't rate Dookie all that much.
People are allowed to like different things, and musicians are allowed to change how they want to sound, and you are allowed to not like the new stuff. Liking things isn't meant to be stressful.
