Ghost Pipe - Herbal Painkiller & Anxiety Relief

I hiked for 9 miles to find this rare and elusive parasitic plant.
Ghost Pipe (Monotropa uniflora) also known as Indian Pipe is known for its anxiolytic and pain suppressing purple elixir. Please note, the plant due to its parasitic properties and assocation with russula mushrooms could contain mushroom originating toxins depending on the host species such as russula subnigrans. It also contains Grayanotoxin, which targets the sodium channel ions leading to neurological or cardiac symptoms. In small tincture doses it is relatively safe hence why it can be found sold online however avoid large quantities of concentrated tinctures to avoid symptoms.
Grayanotoxin leads to low blood pressure, muscle weakness and sedation which may contribute to its pain and anxiety relief. Another common toxin used for pain and anxiety that is legal... is alcohol.

If you'd like to find them after the seeds were dispersed, September for most of the United States.
If you'd like to find them prior to seed dispersal when they are most potent, the spring or early summer.
