Yes, he is so dry but definitely has his moments. I also wondered, since we now know Lucy walked out into the rain, if he wasn't also trying to protect her by getting her to go back inside.
I love when he says that she’s already made the observation she might as well share it. It’s such a contrast to season 1 where Sidney is so dismissive of her. Alexander actually respects her opinion.

I cannot help but feel sorry for Mr. Colbourne trying to handle these two drastically different girls. I imagine that many single fathers would have a hard time knowing what to do with two girls all by themselves, especially one as mouthy as Augusta. I think many men (of that time period in particular) would see their job as providing food and shelter and the other necessities of life, with the mothers providing the tenderness and emotional support that children need. Mr. Colbourne seemed shocked and a little hurt that Augusta felt that he found her an "unbearable burden," even asking Charlotte "were those her exact words?" Somehow when a man is unaware of his sins of omission it is much more forgivable than a man who knows but doesn't care.

Very nice. I like the actors a lot and their interactions. I'm afraid, just as in S1, the dialogue needs work. Some good moments though. Thank you so much for posting these.
I think the dialogue is nearly perfect throughout the entire season. I write film treatments as a hobby and stress reliever so I am usually fairly hard on writers. The dialogue between Esther and Clara in the stairs Ep3 is phenomenal in my opinion. Justin Young and his script writers have done a superb job. Again imo!
Makes me wonder why he feels the girls could possibly be better off not knowing him. I hope Charlotte can show him otherwise. It seems she's already starting ❤.
I think it’s some guilt about his wife, maybe that he didn’t do enough ❤️ I have a feeling that Alexander is harder on himself than he is on anyone else 🥰
Perhaps Mr. Colbourne truly feels unworthy of love. But perhaps he also wanted Charlotte to disagree with him. What do they call it? Fishing for compliments. Say something damning about yourself and then let the other person tell you how wrong you are.
@@TropicalPassionFruit I read about the "disturbing sex scene" in the Time Traveler's Wife and just can't feel the same way about Theo now. I suppose I can see an oversexed teenage boy wanting it but can't understand his adult-self complying with such a desire. "Try not to lose her again".... his tone! The same as voice of Jeremy Northam in "Emma" - "try not to kill my dogs". I love it ❤😅
