Love the new format of showing the deck plans on one side of the screen as you narrate the tour. It made it so much more interesting. Thank you for another great video.
Wow, perfect tour guys! Love following the Maple 🍁 🍁 Leaf 🍁 🍁 around the ship as you narrate. Great idea! This brings back memories of our first HAL cruise in 1995 on Statendam, and 1996 on Ryndam. The Volendam looks very similar. It's amazing she is still in service. So happy to hear you had almost the perfect cruise-your excitement was palpable. Excited to watch the rollout of the vlogs. It's really fun to watch from a Canadian perspective. Hey, the cell phones worked-Hurray! They were mostly Canadian ports=Canadian dollars=Yeah! Does help the wallet. As a side note: We are booked to stay for a month in St. John's NFLD -July to August! So excited to experience The Rock. Jill's Heart Land. Happy cruising Jill and Jerry! Cheers from London, Ontario
Thank you for sharing this video of the Volendam. We are avid HAL loyal cruisers and been on the Volendam 5 times. The Volendam is our favorite dam ship! Nice to know you had a wonderful time on the Volendam.
What a great video, thank you for taking the time to do this. I see Kristen is the CD on Volendam, we had her on the Koningsdam Hawaii in Jan/Feb. She has a very interesting background and we enjoyed her very much. This video now has me wanting to cruise on Volendam. We really like the smaller ships for sure. We do enjoy some nice entertainment and now knowing that we could get this on Volendam and not really miss BB Kings we are in. HAL is our favorite cruise line. This is a great tour! Hope you continue this with all the ships you sail.
Kristen was amazing. She even offered to film us during the Orange Party. We have always loved cruising with HAL but this cruise was even better than we expected.
Love the Vlog and tour. We have cruised on HAL 4 times - all on this class of Ship. #5 will be on the Volendam, Montreal to Boston in 2025. I fear, though, you missed a couple great viewing options. On the bow on Deck 6 is an open deck section you can watch going into and out of port. Also there are stairs at the stern on deck 2 (accessed from the prominade). Very private in the evening. Love this class of Ship and enjoy your shows. Best wishes. Bill Wershing
We were on the Zaandam in January, very similar. We're doing a Boston - Canada - Greenland- Iceland- Boston 24 day adventure on the Volendam in July. Thanks for the previews.
Thanks for your recent vids on the Volendam and this itinerary. We are Flying Winnipeg to Boston in a couple weeks to do a very similar itinerary (Boston, Portland, St. John, Halifax, Bar Harbor, and back to Boston) and it was great to see how much you loved the ship. We've done the Rotterdam and Koningsdam and looking forward to the smaller ship. Thanks for posting. And, on another note, we watched your vid on the dress codes and we agree with you 100%. I think the best comment was that the MDR should be renamed the Formal Dining Room. A large part of the problem is that we often see "suggested wear for this evening" rather than "dress code". Suggestions are easily ignored. That said, if they can enforce other rules like; you must wear shoes and a shirt in the buffet, or no minors in the casino, or no serving alcohol to 20-year-olds (even though the legal age is 18 here).... maybe I'm stretching a bit here but the whole "it's my vacation I can do what I want" philosophy is out the window. No, you cannot. There are things you have to do. You can't skip muster. You can't wear basketball shorts to formal night in the MDR. Some people do it just to prove a point, I swear. Anyway, thanks for your vids and great work. Well done.
Thank you for your feedback. We have often said to each other that the word “suggested” isn’t helping. Have a wonderful time on the Volendam. We hope you enjoy this east coast cruise as much as we did!🛳
After writing my original comment more than an hour ago, I decided to subscribe again. Why, you might wonder, your unique format of ship tours far exceeds any out there and could be your niche to propel your channel to 100,000 subscribers plus!
What a wonderful video, beautifully made, of a beloved and classy ship! The maple leaf tracking feature was cool! Wish I could have sailed the even smaller and also much-loved Prinsendam!
Absolutely amazing, beautifully done! The narration & music is incredible! I so proud to call you both friends. Thanks for making such wonderful and fun content❤❤❤
Brilliant video. Having the deck plan visible as you tour is amazing……why haven’t I seen this format before. Ship looks great for its age, seems like HA does a good job with upkeep.
EXCELLENT presentation of the ship! We have sailed over 35 cruises with Princess and want to try a 'short' Holland America cruise before committing to one of the 25-day+ port intensive cruises they offer. So we decided on an 11 day cruise on this ship. Your presentation is helping us to prepare for the cruise. 😊
This is such an awesome way of doing a ships tour. You spoil us but now we want more. Could you go back and redo all the other ship tour videos and add the deck plan map? But definitely keep this format for all the future ones. Would also be fun on when you reveal the letters for the mystery word to include a map of where it was as well.
Great tour video! We're booked on the June 22nd sailing from Boston to Montreal. It's our first ocean-going brand name cruise. Last summer, we enjoyed a 5 night Ottawa to Kingston cruise on board the Canadian Empress, a 70-passenger riverboat replica out of Kingston Ontario. Anything close to that would have been 32 years ago on a North Sea Ferry between Rotterdam and Hull England (as part of being posted to CFE Baden Soellingen Germany for more than 4 years, with the choice of a free flight home or the equivalent within Europe). Our boys were 1 1/2 and 5 1/2, the base was closing the next summer, and we had a great time. On the way to England it was bumpy, on the way back it was quite rough, and hubby regretted wanting to take in the movie being shown, not only because he was queasy, but also had a tough time getting back to the cabin, while the rest of us slept through the worst of it. I have sea sickness tablets for him just in case 😁.
Well done video. Nice views, good commentary. Quite a nice idea to have the maple leaf follow the visit. Were are MSC loyals but have only been on 7 cruises, so seeing this is quite interesting as it is an entirely different product. Thanks for the insight. Cheers from Montréal.
Are stateroom was on deck 3 at the stern . The promenade deck was close to the water line and I had some of the best Whale / Orcas sightings from this deck on our Alaska cruise.
Nieuw Amsterdam is a little bigger and little newer. It has some features that the Volendam doesn’t have like cabanas and the BB King Club. We have sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam twice and loved it. Have a great cruise.🛳
Would rather take the stairs. Do you get the app on your monitor in stateroom. Went to the Pinnacle Grill on another H.A. ship. Don't eat bacon. Ah, the library. Didn't see a craps table in the casino. On the Holland America Veendam played Three-Card-Poker. Use the Fitness Center. Hope they make burgers without cheese. Don't really like pools. Have gone into the Hot Tub. Do they make Eggs Benedict with Salmon? Like to play table tennis. Good tour. Like smaller ships.
You can use the TV to access your account. We didn’t spend any time in the Casino so we aren’t sure about a craps table. You can order your burger anyway you like it. Not sure about the eggs Benedict.
Love the new format of showing the deck plans on one side of the screen as you narrate the tour. It made it so much more interesting. Thank you for another great video.

Best ship tour I ever seen! Well done!
Thanks so much.
Awesome, love the smaller ships.
Us too!
Great and unique duo presentation. It's just perfect.
Thank you very much!
Great tour! Thank you so much! God bless you.
Thanks for watching.🛳

Very well done. I have watched many ship tours and this one was one of the best!
Wow, thank you!
Great ship tour
Thank you 😊
Truly is a beautiful ship!
Nicely done. Thanks for a good speed . And not talking real fast , like some do. Ship looks nice. Thank you

Fun to hear the band playing Home For A Rest.
Such a Canadian classic party song!
One of our favourites!

What a great ship , the volendam was my first cruise experience and will hold a special place in my heart
Very cool. Your first cruise is definitely a memorable one.

What a great video review of the Volendam! You two have me hooked! Terri and I have to go Thank you!
We loved almost everything about it!🛳

I just want to go NOW! 😀
Lol. Soon you will be able to travel whenever you want!❤️
We had a Lanai cabin on the dearly departed Veendam from Quebec City to Boston. Even smaller then the Volendam but a similar ship.
That sounds lovely.🛳

Thank you. We were very impressed with how well the ship was maintained.

Do enjoy a smaller ship...not so sure about these massive ones I'm seeing lately. These seem much more personable and welcoming.
That is how we felt about it.
Great tour! The ship is beautiful. ⚓️
Thanks, It was in our opinion a very well maintained older ship that had some unique characteristics.🛳

I love HAL and love to be on this ship one day. It is a bit different but I just spent a week in Volendam, which is a town in the Netherlands ……
That is wonderful. We look forward to spending some time in the Netherlands in the future.
Thanks for the extensive tour of the ship, it was very informative and we can't wait until our sailing in Sept.

Great tour
Thanks

That would’ve been amazing!
How would you compare the Nieux Amsterdam to the Vollendam? We are going on the NA in early 2025.
Nieuw Amsterdam is a little bigger and little newer. It has some features that the Volendam doesn’t have like cabanas and the BB King Club. We have sailed on the Nieuw Amsterdam twice and loved it. Have a great cruise.🛳

Very very similar to the Zaandam
We thought so. Looking forward to trying more of HAL’s smaller ships 🛳️
@@CruisingCanucksone thing we sadly did not find on Zaandam is self service laundry. Does volendam have it?
In our experience HAL doesn’t have self service laundry on any of their ships.
You knows it’s a small ship when the video is 15 minutes 😅
It was much easier to film!
Love your show, it’s entertaining to watch. The ship seems a little dark and dated for me. Maybe the next refresh will lighten it up.
Thanks for watching. The ship is darker with a lot of wood décor compared to HAL’s new Pinnacle class ships that are more chrome ,glass.
