I know one of the model makers from both Sledgehammer AND Creature Comforts, Greg Boulton, a great uni mentor and good friend of mine, I still chuckle over the story Greg told my Uni class that Nick Park was animating REAL chickens from Tesco's in "Sledgehammer", so under hot lights they went rank VERY quick and he had to wear a face mask to protect himself from the foul odour, we all had a good chuckle at the time. Still tickles me to this day.

Wallace and Gromit will always have a special place in my heart, I grew up watching the DVD episodes and the movie, (at that time, I didn't know what claymation was, but I didn't care, I loved them too much), but Chicken run also part of my childhood and I hope the next generation can learn to appreciate these movies because they deserve respect and recognition

I kinda view it as the Aardman equivalent to a musical release akin to Lou Reed's "Metal Machine Music" or Metallica's "St Anger" - it's a film that, to me, typifies the frustrations at Aardman towards Dreamworks' increasing micromanagements to desperately Americanize a British institution (The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit, for instance, received significant pushback from Dreamworks higher-ups about how American children wouldn't relate to a film about vegetables. Even the original film title, "The Great Vegetable Plot", was changed at the behest of DW). So what we got was a film that, while not up to the standard of Aardman's classic days, did eventually allow the studio to continue on as they wanted.
If you're unfamiliar with the album references, "Metal Machine Music" was an album released by Reed purely to satisfy a contractual obligation to his record label at the time, but mostly consists of white noise. "St Anger" caught Metallica at their most freyed, interpersonal relationships between the band at near-breaking point, resulting in an album that doesn't quite know what style it wants to be, and with deliberately ugly sound production choices thrown in to reflect how the band felt.

In the 1990s, sales of Wensleydale cheese from the Wensleydale Creamery had fallen so low that production in Wensleydale itself was at risk of being suspended. The cheese experienced a boost in its popularity after being featured in the Wallace & Gromit series. The main character of the series, Wallace, a cheese connoisseur, most notably mentions Wensleydale as a particularly favourite cheese in the 1995 short A Close Shave. Animator and creator Nick Park chose it solely because it had a good name that would be interesting to animate the lip sync to rather than due to its origins in northern England where the shorts were set. He was also unaware of the financial difficulties that the company was experiencing. The company contacted Aardman Animations about a licence for a special brand of Wensleydale cheese called, "Wallace & Gromit Wensleydale", which sold well. When the 2005 full-length Wallace & Gromit film, The Curse of the Were-Rabbit, was released, sales of Wensleydale cheeses increased by 23%.
