I agree builds have limited degrees of freedom right now, but I think on the whole that's a good thing. Premature entrenchment of a meta, particularly a P2W meta, would be bad for the game. Right now, I chuckle at all the vids with titles like "Caesar breaks the meta!" or "Seth crushes the meta!" What meta? Builds are so constrained right now that we haven't even explored all the possibilities to settle on a meta. The question for now is, does the fundamental design of the game allow for enough *potential* for build freedom? I think the answer is yes. Even now, people are doing some pretty crazy stuff, like I saw a build of Ben doing 6 digits of damage per attack in Withering Garden. Whoda thunk?
The lack of build freedom problem will solve itself in time. We didn't get super break immediately or DOT in HSR until year or two in the game. Same goes for Genshin, we waited till 3.0 for hyperbloom to be a thing. I see a day where supports will get a dedicated damage dealing WEngine or even agents that are completely reliant on EX special skill damage
We had lots of cool stuff in 1.0 Genshin. Crescent pike turning Xiangling into physical dps, prototype amber for a healer Mona. Chongyun and Bennet allowing elemental infusions.
@@QuackEasy cool yest, but incredibly niche and often times useless. they were so useless to the point where people to this day are still purposely ignoring bennets c6.
But those didn’t introduce build freedom, just more mechanics that are even more niche… build freedom is if they were to make all engines interchangeable with each class (which they should’ve done btw).
This thing seems very similar to the Festering Desire from Genshin. When that sword released there weren't many characters that could make optimal use of it. But it is now considered an extremely good weapon because later characters COULD make really good use of it. So definitely worth it to pick up for the future.
If I hadn't gotten Housekeeper S5, I would use this Engine on Corin. She's someone you would logically use on an enemy's stun window; her attacks are also innately lengthy as part of her kit. Corin does not mesh well with Starlight Engine's requirements of a Dodge/Assist every 12s to get an ATK% boost, especially as you do NOT want the enemy mobile during ULT/EX. There is also the fact that the ULT can take up almost the entire runtime of that buff in full extension, which leaves her EX to languish. Golden Camellia is her best f2p option with its universal buffs. For a smoother and better experience however, Housekeeper will always be better for Corin.
HEXADAZE GUIDE YES!!!!! You know I've been wondering what it was about the game for a while now and I think you put it perfectly. I agree with the restriction of build expression. All the characters feel very locked into their roles and the weapons. For example, and I won't go into specifics of data leaks, but one of the future playable characters signature weapon defines their ENTIRE kit. I.e. none of the other current weapons work with that future character because their stats scale off a very specific type and other weapons being detrimental to the character. This definitely expresses itself strangely when you have characters like Sokaku which have blatant DPS mindscapes but you can't really run it because of the trade offs. I'm not so analytical or well spoken, but generally put there is a lack of silliness to me. It'd be so interesting and significantly more fun to be able to say things like - I'm running (x) Type Sokaku and have it be as equally viable as two or three other type of Sokaku builds. I want to say something like maybe adding functionality to weapons would make the game quite interesting but I'm not a game designer and that's probably a ridiculous and terrible take. But it would be something like after using EX Special gain another EX Special, or no unit collision when using EX special, increased movement speed after using EX, etc. So this would allow a player to think to themselves - hey do I want a sokaku that can build stacks faster, or do I want one that can go through units to gather them better, or do I want one that can spin a certain distance faster. And those weapons could equally be viable for the other supports potentially as well.
This engine is perfect for Seth it boosts his overall shield like crazy and once you get the damage gear needed to transition him to a dps this is perfect.
I really enjoyed your last point about how limiting the game feels. Weapons feel as exclusive as they do in 5.0 genshin, which is really bad. I think its to lean into pressure to spend more to get ther weapon. I enjoy general, overall useful weapons. Something I like in Wuthering Waves right now is that the weapons so far are just good for everyone, not just the limited unit. And with the lack of disk sets, it feels very cut and cry right now. I pulled Ellen but I haven't been able to play because it feels quite stale, but came back for the event limited weapon! Good guide and based
No, his Ex Special enables a separate variation of his Basic Attack string, but the Basic Attacks are still classified as Basic Attacks, not Ex Specials. Or, in short, No.
I think his EX only triggers a boost to his basic attacks. So, not good on him. That being said, I’m using it because I had him on a B rank before this, and Gilded R5 isn’t that far behind the free to get Starlit Knight R0
Same. What a shame. And then they brought up the weapon's effects being tied to the character, like everyone is just pulling on the whale banners(weapon banner) or something. We have limited summons as is, and the A rank weapons we do have do a great enough job for all content. We don't need god tier weapons. So the number 2 point is kind of invalid. Yeah, starlight being the best for most of don't have signature, but it's not like they're done adding more weapons to the game. And there's variety for the other class weapons to choose from too.
I see howler brothers and I upvote. I see your vids and I upvote. I'm sorry I can't upvote twice. Also, I love the guides but I think one of the main issues is that none of the content is actually difficult enough to warrant a guide for character builds. Hell I didn't need any guides in HSR, but the whole reason I came to your channel was the guide on anomaly. Definitely needed that to understand it. One of my issues with build diversity usually is resources. They love to lock items behind so many resources so games like epic 7 was awful to try to test anything out. Id much rather see team combos that work like trying out multiple attributes and seeing how they work together.
"Should you get it?"
Its event exclusive, even if you don't use it, you only get it once.
The only sense in the comments if it’s limited directly valuable

@@TacticalDimples It's about the same thing as weapons, really. Gauntlet users can't use broadswords, etc.

its op for zhu if you don't have her special engine and probably jane when she comes out

I think I'll put this on Nekomata because I doubt I'm ever getting her S rank weapon.
Ah, the sheer irony of my situation; we're the exact opposite, I haven't pulled her (yet), but I have her W‑Engine. ☠️
I got the S rank Brimstone on my Nekomata, idk if this will be better
Corin will benefit greatly from this W-Engine too, what the hell?
True! I think her signature as an A rank is just objectively better for her though
between a 1 star Starlight and a 5 star Blossom, which wil be better for Ellen?
This engine is perfect for Seth it boosts his overall shield like crazy and once you get the damage gear needed to transition him to a dps this is perfect.
It would, but seth can't use the effect due to it being an attacker W-engine, while seth is a Defender (the effect won't apply)
@@legends2779 it doesn't matter that the effect doesn't do anything for him. All Seth needs is attack. He is a monster sub dps when built correctly

good info well communicated, thank you
Dunno if Anton gets benefits from this W-engine tho. Is his burst move on basic attack an EX move?
No, his Ex Special enables a separate variation of his Basic Attack string, but the Basic Attacks are still classified as Basic Attacks, not Ex Specials.
Or, in short, No.
Nope, it's considered a basic attack, so the engine is basically worthless for him.

Thx btw
i use it for ellen since i literally dont have other weapon except the starlight one
Great video!
I was wondering, is this spreadsheet/calcs available anywhere?
I Appreciate it! Not yet, I am working on a better format for these and will like publish when ready.
What about Anton ? Wouldn't that be a very good option since he always uses his EX skill to drill enemies ? Or am I thinking wrong ?
I think his EX only triggers a boost to his basic attacks. So, not good on him. That being said, I’m using it because I had him on a B rank before this, and Gilded R5 isn’t that far behind the free to get Starlit Knight R0

To Corin ye go with, little W‑Engine that could.
But I've heard m6 Soukaku works great as a dps 😅
I agree wholeheartedly with the lack of build expression,we don't really have any niches beyond playing disorder comps before Jane is out.
