I giggle when those who'd mock us now look astonished how we were able to have and do as they wanted but they ended up in debt or worse. We're not rich at all , were just practical, frugal and appreciative. Now our kids are carrying these good habits! Blessings!
I know this video is about being frugal but what i love the most is that you are grateful for your items you have therefore you take good care of them so they last.I just rented dave ramsey book from library(save money), tfs

That is so true. I have two things to say to you. 1. I adore your hair 2. I have been hearing about your wonderful you tube channel, and have heard so many kind things about you. I am going to watch some of your videos.
I am almost 82 and of course retired! I live in a board and care home in Fresnoi, California! I also am pretty frugal! I love to sew and can make things that I need! I also love to crochet! These are things that keep me busy and I can do for myself and others! I have a private room and my own TV with Xfinity. So I have that entertainment! I also have my computer and wifi is also furnished! We have 2 different care givers. One for weekdays and the other for weekends! I kind of serve in that capacity nights, if I am needed! There are 8 of us in our home, 6 women and 2 men. Most of us are very good friends and we visit and that doesn't cost anything! Haha... I am often asked to teach our caregivers how to cook something or another! I love to help people, it pleases me to feel needed! I enjoyed your show, I am pretty new to using RUclips, I have been on Facebook for about 5 years now. (Anothrer thing to keep me busy and entertained for free).
That is a great idea to crochet and sew! It is wonderful that you keep yourself busy doing things you love!! Sounds like you have an interesting home life with your "friends" to share fun with!!
Julia Jones. I loved what you had to say. You are so positive. I have a friend who is nearly 30 years older than me who lives in a nursing home in another state. I try to call her every week to see how she’s doing. She’s a very positive person as well. I wish she knew you!
I drive a 2000 Camry with 421 k miles on her. I've owned the car since she was new and have always kept up with the maintenance. When I bought the car as a dumb kid in college I remember my father telling me did I better drive that fancy car at least 200k just to break even so out of spite I've doubled that and keep going. Best piece of advice he ever gave me was to say that oil is cheap but engines are expensive. Even though I work in the car industry and I'm surrounded by how much newer and much flash your cars I take great pride in the fact that I made a good choice when choosing which car I was going to be in debt for. Her paint is still shiny, the AC still blows ice cold, and the old fashioned teddy bear fur seat Fabrics are still holding up quite nicely. The ride is even more supple and comfortable considering the last car payment I ever made who's back over 15 years ago. 😂
I drive a ‘99 Toyota Rav 4 & just love it! It goes everywhere and fits into parking spots easily. 3 years ago I did buy a highlander but we only use it for long trips, and it is paid for too. Our doctor appointments and shopping are 70-90 miles away and the Rav ins’t the most comfortable ride but I don’t think I’ll ever get rid of it.
Gives me hope my 2006 Buick Lucerne will last me it has 145 k miles on her I literally luv this car she's my freedom and in today's economy we all pretty much budget 💛
I love the practicality and ordinary approach. Nothing extreme, sensible living. Taking care of stuff, not over-using things like washing machine detergent. Just not pouring away money.
I absolutely love this video but what I really enjoy a lot about you and your videos are… That you realize everybody is different and forever looks different to everybody. I appreciate your wisdom that you’ve learned over the years that your share with us and I certainly enjoy your variety of videos too.
One of the best things about being frugal is that you get to save money--yup, put it right in the bank! When the rest of my siblings are "head over heals" in debt and wondering how they are ever gonna pay it down--I am out of debt with an 800 credit score and saving money every month. One of the best things I have ever done was get out of debt before I retired! YES!
your hand mixer from the 1970s was built far better than the newer ones. i had one for decades and the newer ones kept breaking every time i made thick cookie dough.
That is why I keep mine even though it smells a little, drags in the motor. It is a work horse. I want a Kitchen Aid in green apple from QVC but even 50.00 is so much and what if it is actually crap.
My mixer was a hostess gift special for having a Tupperware party back in 1983. Still works great, and I find myself pulling it out over my beautiful candy apple red Kitchen Aid stand mixer. Very thankful for both.
I learned those things from my German mother…take good care of things. Don’t replace unless absolutely necessary. Very pleased you mention these. To me, these are the most important. Especially in this throwaway society.another is to buy good quality, keep clean and in good repair. I enjoy your videos
Hello France👋 How are you doing 😌 I hope this year brings happiness, joy , and peace all over the world, I’m from Key West Florida and you where are you form if I may ask? I’ve been living in Key West for 30years now?
Nick True - It's only hard---until it ISN"T. Once you get started selling/GIVING stuff away, you're on a roll and 'freedom' is just around the corner! Some of my stuff is SO old, but still working..why 'toss' it? Pay off bills, become debt-free, 'make do' (as my mom used to say) and life becomes much more enjoyable...
My husband and son keep urging me to update to a Smart Phone but I tell them I like my old "flip phone." I tell them I don't need another one plus it fits in my pocket. I hate clothes shopping so I usually wear my clothes for 5 years or more until they're almost worn out or I'm really sick of them. Or I go to a thrift store. I figure as long as I'm clean and modest that's all that counts.
We don't eat meat every meal, I never throw food away because leftovers are a must, my car is 17 years old and it runs good because I take care of it, I have house clothes that might look like rags to some but I keep my better clothes for when I leave the house, I turn all lights off if I'm not in the room, I use a hand towel to dry instead of wasting paper towels, my clothes dryer is over 20 years old and doesn't match my washer but I don't care because it works fine. This is just some of the things I do to save.
We may be the same person. Lol Except my car is 13 plus years old and my dryer is 19. We replaced the matching washer because it was going to cost so much to fix, but I miss it. Liked it better than the newer one.
I just ordered a dryer today to replace one I have used 30 years. Still looks and works just fine. But now I'm too old to deal with a fire should the belt break. I'm gonna miss it.

I love your practicality and obvious good nature. I've been frugal my whole life out of sheer necessity. It is something that, honestly, schools should teach. If you weren't raised or had to live this way, many of those things that come naturally to us thrifty folks are just alien ideas to you. I feel bad for people being raised fairly well off, honestly, because when money runs out or things get tough, they don't know what to do! And they FEEL impoverished, where people who do without to meet a goal or because they can't make themselves waste the money are typically perfectly content. I love that about your beautiful smile as you go through your tidy, functional home. You are HAPPY, even if you have things you'd LIKE to do or own. Most people can't find contentment and learn to love what they have and appreciate their belongings, lifestyle, etc. They always want more, more, more. I prefer the "bloom where you are planted" approach. BTW, love all of the 1970s/80s kitchen stuff. I go thrifting or yard sale shopping for older, more durable stuff like that mixer. I'm still using my Mom's old Texasware mixing bowls from the 1970s and my grandma's cheese graters from circa 1920s!
I love how organized your home is.Your things aren't new but they are well kept..You go girl! God bless. My husband is a handy man so he fixes things instead of buying new ones ..I got my tv for 15 bucks at the thrift store.I can't tell you how many times he's fixed it.Microwave too..LOL..
Love your idea of putting menu list on the fridge o put a shopping list on fridge that way I can check what I have on hand to make menu planning easier and not buy things I don't need plus saves time shopping and you may have enough to las
Love your channel. Im single and in my early 30s. No kids. I am wanting to become more frugal. Now seems as good a time as any. Thanks for showing us your house 🏡. Love your channel. New subscriber. :)
Your video just popped up in my recommendations and I just finished watching about 7 of your videos. You do such a great job being straightforward, practical and articulate, while recognizing and reinforcing the message that you are doing you and that it fits YOUR situation. I love that. I'm subscribing!
Another great video. Thank you for letting us into your home. I love your "vintage" kitchen equipment. Don't get rid of it! New never works as good!! I am very frugal when it comes to food. I have 4 boys and my youngest 2 have never been to a sit down restaurant. Only fast food a handful of times. I cook everything from scratch and have a HUGE garden. I just recently got a job as a virtual assistant for a large frugal living RUclips channel and we save 100% of my income. Our house will be paid off in a year. I also drive a very old minivan with over 200,000 miles. I would never get rid of it. I have never had a more reliable car! I don't decorate my house. I have a very nice, large home but I do not care about decoration. As long as it is clean and tidy I am happy. My #1 piece of advice is to be content at home. So many people have to run here, there, and everywhere all the time. They are not content in their home. I have also taught my kids to be content at home. We have an above ground pool, trampoline, bikes, scooters, etc and we have other kids here all the time but we have our fun at home. I leave my house only 1-2 times a week to garage sale for everything we need. I mean everything! Last year we lived off only $19,000 and everything else went to our mortgage. I do not feel we lived deprived. We even went on a nice vacation. Sorry so long winded. Love your channel. So happy to have found you. Blessings! Heidi
You are very sensible. Well done! I agree, we are living in a throw away society. My husband and I often wait until we have cash to pay for renovations. Keep up the good work!
Good video. 1-Buy cleaning/laundry supplies from Dollar Tree 2-Hang laundry to air dry, outside in good weather, inside on hangers in colder months 3-Hand wash dishes and air dry in rack 4-Borrow DVD's and CD's from library 5-Plan a flexible menu and eat at home 6- Write a detailed grocery list so you don't buy what you still have 7- Shop at ALDI 8-Eat 1 good meal a day, supplement w/ fruit, tea or coffee and a snack 9-Use credit cards to get the add'l discounts at stores. Buy used clothes, purses, jewelry. Pay in full each month 10-Have coffee out occasionally w/ a friend at McDonalds, all amounts 1 dollar.
Oops, #1 and #2 ... sometimes buying cleaning and laundry supplies from the dollar store are very watered-down. Yeah you would be better off buying these products at your Walmart, etcetera and water them down by yourself. Better yet! And I have not tried this yet, but another video said to use one teaspoon, yes one teaspoon of blue Dawn soap in a load of laundry. Now that is frugal! Hang laundry to air-dry, good idea bad idea. You would have to then iron your clothes, using up electricity. Most people do not realize that to dry clothes in the dryer, put the timer 20 minutes less and your clothes will come out dry. So there is 20 minutes of electricity that you are saving, and your clothes are practically wrinkle-free..
I found out when my dryer broke that that thing was costing 200$ a month to run. I went 1 year without a dryer. I hung things on the rails the poarch in summer and everywhere in the rooms in winter. It works, but it's work finding places to hang them and putting them away. I need an old fashioned clothes line. We are in the country, it's possible I could have it. Dryers are convenient but so expensive and not really worth it. I hope I can get things straightened out and start saving money on that.
@@misfithomemaker3683 before hang to dry try to straighten it na leave it flat to ' rest'. If you hang after 1 hour it will have less wrinkles. This especially works with cotton eg. duvet covers, tshirts.
Many of the old appliances were build to last! I'm so tired of plastic parts and all the greedy built-in obsolescence these days. Don't be ashamed of your fabulously working items!! 😊
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMomOmgoodness! "Love"?? My great-aunt would say, "Lovvve!" instead of "goodbye" bc when she'd say,"goodbye", she'd become very sad & cry. Such a sweet memory of my precious Great-Aunt Eula! I just had to share!
Never underestimate a really good how-to repair video on YT. So far we have been able to repair the vacuum cleaner and washing machine by watching them.
Excellent video! We live in such a disposable society 😢 Use the life of something, repair & fix! Second hand. Menu planning. Essentials vs trendy household goods. Thank you for being REAL!
I’m so happy for you that you have your house paid for and the car is paid for I’m working on it I have three more months on my car and three years on my house so I’m really trying to get out of that I’m real proud of you I also got rid of my TV because of the filth and all the bad language I got sick of it so I started reading books now I’m on RUclips listening to you and other ladies how to save money
As well as being frugal your doing amazing things for the environment, Sadly we do live in a throw away society but hopefully this is changing with education and channels like yours.
I pack my lunch and snacks every day to avoid sending out and to stay away from the vending machines. I cook/bake from scratch. Love watching other people's ideas on how to be frugal. It's a marathon, not a sprint! Great job!
Good morning, watching your talks, I bought veggies and fruits yesterday, loos only what I know we will eat, bought 4 butternuts, but saw a pocket for the same price with more butternuts in it!! Bought black figs 2 trays for the price of one in a fancy store!! Yes, where there is a will there is a way. I love to save and I am so grateful for it. Your advice is good, so many will benefit by listening and trying your suggestions. Well done. Many blessings, Elize.
Do you wanna hear a funny story was my microwave was all started getting rusty inside so I thought well I’m so frugal I don’t want to buy a new one so I’ll paint it so I bought a can of rust oleum paint and painted it aqua green inside it was so pretty I told my son-in-law about it and he said mom you cannot paint your car or your microwave it Hass to be professionally done. So I got sick really sick and my girlfriends from church went and bought me a brand new microwave So I got a new one didn’t cost me a dime I sure love my girlfriends.
I know riiieet. After taking a nursing class and finding out food may contain radiation, my microwave is basically off. Microwave popcorn is one of the worse things you can eat
I adore your attitude towards not replacing items unless absolutely needed. Something I definitely needed to hear. As a young married couple my husband and I have wasted so much money! In the past 5 years we’ve purchased and sold 5 different cars and have thrown money at things that were not necessity. Our son has too many toys which means a lot of them don’t get payed with and they’re taking up space. I splurge on kitchen gadgets and spatulas that I don’t need 😂it’s gotten so bad and we’re now paying for that by being in debt. I will be watching some more of your videos💜
xox_SaltySiren Hallo Salty Siren. You have made the first step towards being frugal, namely recognising that you are spending too freely. Now's the time to rectify that in order not to sink further into debt. Well done and good luck!
Get Dave Ramseys book Total Money Makeover It will save you thousands of dollars. Also watch "Till debt do us part" on RUclips. It's fun and instructive.A lady named Gail helps couples straighten out their finances. You could watch it on your TV with hubby. It will help you out a lot I think
This is the first video of yours that I've watched and I enjoyed it. You have a nice personality and I agree with your way of thinking to keep old things if they still work. Thank you!
I like that you get right to the point! Yes...Don't be a consumer!! Think of ALL the advertising that is put in our face everday....We don't need a bunch of stuff. Myself...I eat minimal & extremely healthy. Never fast food etc... Love how it feels and saves a lot of money. 👍
You are teaching us how to live and be happy now. It's greatly appreciated. I love free entertainment and the ability to have fun with movies, books and games. Most people have to be entertained at restaurants, shopping malls and expensive activities to have fun. Thank you!
found your channel thanks to Coffee with Kate! Love it so far. Thank you for great content. We too believe in debt free living. We drive vehicles that are 15+ years old. Fortunately my husband is an amazing mechanic but we're blown away by how many people think when a car gets to a certain age they have to get a new one "just in case something breaks". I've explained to friends that if they were to put that car payment amount into savings they would easily have enough each year saved up to replace whole engines and transmissions, the highest costing repairs. We cannot allow fear to drive our spending.
That's great that you take care of your things. So many people don't. They treat things like they are disposable. We used to hear that our youngest daughter "had SOOOO many toys." They were her older sisters birthday and holiday gifts that were handed down to her. They were 10 and 6 years older. So she did have a lot. But it was because her sisters took care of all their books and toys. So the baby of the bunch got to enjoy them!
Absolutely on spot! I have a lower "credit score" because.... drumroll please... I don't have any revolving credit, my things are paid for and I don't borrow money all of the time! Now, in my day, when a person had no debt, paid day to day bills on time, and owned outright their car, home, etc. (Well, we are still paying for the home... :-( ) that person was considered well off. Today, you have to be in debt up to your butt to be considered worthy of credit and to maintain a high credit rating with these stupid agencies... It makes me sick.
AlbredaWelde ...So true, I have one credit card that I pay off every month, I have no other debt. I am notified every 3 mos that my credit score has gone down! You need debt and a monthly payment history to maintain a good credit score. I think this is backward but I don’t care if mine gets to 0, that means I have saved $ to purchase what I need with cash!
I also believe in keeping what still works. The older things were made so much better. And if I have to replace I look for American made. A lot of people of today consider everything disposable and are willing to pay to throw things away and purchase from China. You are grateful for the nice things you have. I've had it all, lost it and when picking up pieces, it was an eye opening experience. I'm now grateful for a climate controlled place to live. Grateful for the few comfortable things I have around me. And I am much more aware of the suffering I see other people go through trying to spend every cent they have thinking that is happiness. I appreciate your message. Peace
My tip: I have a few big powerbanks. I charge them at off peak hours and use the electricity during peak hours so I use off peak electricity during peak hours :)
I am so glad Josh over at Just Frugal Me recommended your channel in one of his recent videos. This is very motivating and a great reminder to really only use what you have until it is unusable. I love budgeting but struggle with a minimal spend lifestyle. I really want to rein it in. I have an expensive purchase I want to make but I have held off for years to do it.
I LOVED seeing your slow cooker. People laugh at me because mine is so old and busted up. The handles fell off a while back and my toaster is mine from when I was a kid
We are debt free too and my husband is going to retire the end of October. We are lucky to be getting a nice inheritance so I will be quitting my job at the same time.We will not be changing the way we live, I was brought up being frugal and I will stay that way !! I will be able to make more video's. Thanks for sharing.
You have inspired me.I too have shed weight since March 2020 as it was the co morbidity I could change and oh I love being able to hop out of a chair now!!Next to have only what I need around me .It truly is about "the lightness of being"
During college, it was really a struggle BUT I learnt the hard way and I am thankful I did. I learnt not to waste food, don't go out too much for dinner, shop carefully, wash once a week, don't impulse buy, shop for thrift clothes; Iv'e learnt to buy things that last forever, borrow books from the library. Now 20 years later, I still follow the principals of budgeting and living frugally, live within my means, even though I have a good job and an excellent wage.
KETO Diamond Channel. In my building, there’s a table near our mailboxes that we can use to recycle to anyone interested. No matter what is left on the table, someone takes it and finds a use for it!
Nice tips there! Planning your meals means that you won't go nutty when shopping for groceries, thus saving. Stopped buying new books like mad years ago; only if it's something that I will treasure. I'll be weeding through soon and letting some go. Something you didn't mention. I've always been one who buys used furniture. Over the years I've amassed a beautiful and eclectic mid-century modern collection including sofas, dining table and chairs, dressers, living room chairs, nightstands, buffet, etc. High quality pieces for far less than something brand new and cheaply "banged out." I don't mind a scratch or two; it shows that the piece has "lived."
I love your video. My mom could pinch pennies and always bought kids play cloths at yard sales and the salvation army. We went to Kmart for our school cloths and Sears for Dad's work cloths. I mourn the demise of both stores. I also keep a budget, half of my income to bills and food, the other half for replace and repair of everything in our house and cars. Save a little each payperiod, and by the time you need something you will always have the money.
Sandra, I was actually tearing up today because of Sears. I grew up with Sears. I sure miss it. Our Sears will be open until March. This is brilliant: other half for replace and repair of everything in our house and cars.
I personally do in fact find your microwave adorable! As for the missing door in front of your air conditioner, you can try what I've tried! You can get very inexpensive fabric at Walmart, often just a dollar a yard for a nice thick upholstery fabric. It hangs nicely instead of a door where we can't afford to put one. If you're interested!
I have been struggling lately wanting things, it is a terrible compulsion. I have to keep telling myself I have it and it still works. Maybe I can replace things down the road if they break. Then I pray that nothing breaks. I love your video. I use my dishwasher once or twice a week because it is only me and it helps me.
Lisa B I just commented on another viewer about this . Here it is again - Getting OUT of DEBT is the biggest hurdle but STAYING OUT of debt is yet another HURDLE . It’s a constant struggle and always being strict on yourself . We are now building a savings than to try to keep it . It is all about saying NO to yourself and spouse and a lot of DISCIPLINE . I know this for we live it .
My grandma always said "take care of what you have!" We got her new pots and pans and she consistently tries to give them to me because she doesnt "need" them, hers work fine! Lesson in contentment for sure! I love your practicality mentality. Just found you and subscribed!
Lucy is an icon. I really like watching the rerun shows and have collected a small group of Lucy & Friends items at thrift stores ( our favorite kind of stores) I have saved quite a bit of money on craft items. I used to work at a craft store; but I still liked getting good supplies at the thrift stores) If a customer couldn't afford new stuff, I would give them a list of thrift stores to find items that they wanted but couldn't afford them at our store. They were appreciative for the help.
You are correct, as one gets older we appreciate things and tend to have less of these "things". My husband and I have sold our home, given much of our things to our grown children and are living life in our RV free from debt. Life is great.
My best frugal tip: I brown a 3-pound tube of ground beef, drain, & divide into 6 pkgs, then freeze. Half a lb. is plenty for most dishes, especially with cheese. Then I'm not tempted to use too much & cuts calories. I do the same with sausage for breakfast meals and biscuits & gravy.
I compost kitchen scraps, take the lawn clippings and use them as mulch and put the leftovers into the compost, use some solar light bulbs at night, use sheets to close off a few rooms in the winter, use a humidifier with the heat to make the house feel more cozy. I make a big pot of tea in my coffee maker daily.
I do a lot of what you described too, my library is one of the best kept secrets around, I stopped buying books years ago, and get everything I want from the library, along with new release DVD's, books for my grandkids, etc. Usually at some point in life you find out how little you can get by with. Plus I've never liked a lot of junk or stuff around and a cluttered home, so for me its great.
That hand mixer should be a collectible at this point lol. It's not about having the best and newest things but rather enjoying what you have and making the most out of it. Thanks for sharing Money Mom. I am going to share our cheap and frugal living as well.
I get most of my books second hand on amazon for pennies! Some are 0.01 and the postage is £2 😊 My orange and brown cooker was second hand in the 90s when I was a student, and it’s from the 70s! It’s in perfect working condition and now it’s ‘retro vintage’ fashionable.
Just found your videos, and am going to watch them. When we retired, we said that we would not change anything in our new home unless we absolutely could not live with it. One new fireplace and surround installed by my husband, and an upgraded kitchen. My husband made the kitchen units - he is a joiner by trade. I am wearing clothes I bought over twenty years ago, when I was working. Over the years, we saved our cards to each other, and re-use them now. I write the date on the back when they were given. Some cards have been given four times. Your doorless cupboard - I would make a curtain for it. Best wishes from Susan in UK.
I am all about using what you have & keeping it simple. To save money I try to cook most meals, make my own laundry detergent, do my own repairs, grow my own veggies and soo many more little things that have a big impact. My SUV is 10 years old, but it looks great and only needs some repairs...it's all paid off and I'm gonna keep it until it's not financially worth it. I am teaching my 3 kids to value things and their time and money and I'm so happy to say that they all have jobs and are really smart with their money and not impulsive or wasteful. You're right...we have a throw away society and it's terrible.
My local Goodwill sells their books 4 for $1.00. Can you get every book you want? Absolutely not. But often times I find one (or several!) that I like more than the one I thought I wanted!!! Its like being on a search for hidden treasure! Especially true for cookbooks!! Lol
When we moved cross country we sold the big stuff then packed our 2 cars full with the heavy small expansive stuff then shipped them and once we got to our new home we bought the basic stuff from thrift stores
Now this is a video I will rewatch often. I’ve had t deal with a lot of depression because most of my family have passed away and I want to save everything.
My mother was married to a wealthy man who owned Le Creuset cookware. I liked it and bought several pieces. The price is very high but these pieces last your lifetime and your descendants lifetime. I learned that buying top quality products in the end save money because they never fall apart and don't need to be replaced.
I'm also frugal. I have noticed the older I get, the more frugal I get also. There is no sense in wasting money on things we don't need. Thanks for the video. 💖
Thank you much
Sunshine Girl - Amen!
I giggle when those who'd mock us now look astonished how we were able to have and do as they wanted but they ended up in debt or worse. We're not rich at all , were just practical, frugal and appreciative. Now our kids are carrying these good habits! Blessings!

I love this woman! She works smart and not hard! No nonsense, just common sense!
I love you too. Thank you.
I love Toyota. Thank you Kip.
Wow love it
Gives me hope my 2006 Buick Lucerne will last me it has 145 k miles on her I literally luv this car she's my freedom and in today's economy we all pretty much budget 💛
Good for you!! 😀 We have a 1997 Cherokee which I love...& a 2005 jeep Liberty .
I love to pick up things I want at thrift stores. Just clean them very well. Makes me just as happy and I don't owe anything.
Thank you so much
I love the practicality and ordinary approach. Nothing extreme, sensible living. Taking care of stuff, not over-using things like washing machine detergent. Just not pouring away money.
so agree
I agree. Washing liquids are concentrated and so are shampoos.
I absolutely love this video but what I really enjoy a lot about you and your videos are… That you realize everybody is different and forever looks different to everybody. I appreciate your wisdom that you’ve learned over the years that your share with us and I certainly enjoy your variety of videos too.
You are so sweet
One of the best things about being frugal is that you get to save money--yup, put it right in the bank! When the rest of my siblings are "head over heals" in debt and wondering how they are ever gonna pay it down--I am out of debt with an 800 credit score and saving money every month. One of the best things I have ever done was get out of debt before I retired! YES!
I am so happy for you. That is wonderful..
your hand mixer from the 1970s was built far better than the newer ones. i had one for decades and the newer ones kept breaking every time i made thick cookie dough.
I have one from 1960 too.
So cool, I bought a hand mixer a year ago and it broke already.
I really wanted my mom's from the 70's and she just threw it away 😔
Love rewatching your videos to inspire myself
Thank you
I learned those things from my German mother…take good care of things. Don’t replace unless absolutely necessary. Very pleased you mention these. To me, these are the most important. Especially in this throwaway society.another is to buy good quality, keep clean and in good repair. I enjoy your videos

Thank you!
It sounds so simple: Don't replace it unless you actually need to.
Nick, this means so much coming from you.
Centsible Living With Money Mom of course! I thought it was great.
@@lindavalencia6849 I completely agree! Once you get going, it's WAY easier :) You're totally right.
I think we could all learn from you!!!
Cars can run a lot longer than many think.
We may be the same person. Lol Except my car is 13 plus years old and my dryer is 19. We replaced the matching washer because it was going to cost so much to fix, but I miss it. Liked it better than the newer one.
Agree. My car is 16 years old. Just no need to replace it for the sake of being flash.
I just ordered a dryer today to replace one I have used 30 years. Still looks and works just fine. But now I'm too old to deal with a fire should the belt break. I'm gonna miss it.
Take care of what you have, keeping a donation box and meal planning. I'm doing that now,and I enjoy it.

I love your personality..its so direct..and you get to the point.
I live in Dallas, TX. Thank you so much.

Welcome aboard!
Blessings!

I felt this one was a little long, but thanks much
Good video.
1-Buy cleaning/laundry supplies from Dollar Tree
2-Hang laundry to air dry, outside in good weather, inside on hangers in colder months
3-Hand wash dishes and air dry in rack
4-Borrow DVD's and CD's from library
5-Plan a flexible menu and eat at home
6- Write a detailed grocery list so you don't buy what you still have
7- Shop at ALDI
8-Eat 1 good meal a day, supplement w/ fruit, tea or coffee and a snack
9-Use credit cards to get the add'l discounts at stores. Buy used clothes, purses, jewelry. Pay in full each month
10-Have coffee out occasionally w/ a friend at McDonalds, all amounts 1 dollar.
I love this: -Plan a flexible menu and eat at home

Thank you Kay

Good morning, watching your talks, I bought veggies and fruits yesterday, loos only what I know we will eat, bought 4 butternuts, but saw a pocket for the same price with more butternuts in it!! Bought black figs 2 trays for the price of one in a fancy store!! Yes, where there is a will there is a way. I love to save and I am so grateful for it. My microwave died and I didn't bother buying a new one and I don't miss it. I love my slow cooker
I adore mine too
Do you wanna hear a funny story was my microwave was all started getting rusty inside so I thought well I’m so frugal I don’t want to buy a new one so I’ll paint it so I bought a can of rust oleum paint and painted it aqua green inside it was so pretty I told my son-in-law about it and he said mom you cannot paint your car or your microwave it Hass to be professionally done.
Btw my mom had that hand mixer and I was so upset when it finally broke I used to like the smell of it when she used it, it smelled like warm vanilla.
I know EXACTLY what you mean by the smell these old mixers have when turned on! And that comforting sound!
Thank you so much. I feel it is all about the baby steps
xox_SaltySiren Hallo Salty Siren. You have made the first step towards being frugal, namely recognising that you are spending too freely. Now's the time to rectify that in order not to sink further into debt. Well done and good luck!

I like that you get right to the point! Yes...Don't be a consumer!! Think of ALL the advertising that is put in our face everday....We don't need a bunch of stuff. Myself...I eat minimal & extremely healthy. Never fast food etc... Love how it feels and saves a lot of money. 👍

Here's our meal planning, over here honey. SO cute!
found your channel thanks to Coffee with Kate!
You are so wonderful Thank you. I adore Coffee with Kate
So true!
i love that you apricate your things so much! and your right, if it works -keep it.
who cares if its a little dated?
Exactly!!
The banks hate us cheap and frugals! LOL !!
You are not kidding
Billy Shaw I didn’t think about that at all but of course they don’t make money as we don’t have debt; great reminder thanks.
Peace
Thank you for the sweet comment
My tip: I have a few big powerbanks. I charge them at off peak hours and use the electricity during peak hours so I use off peak electricity during peak hours :)

That is wonderful

Thank you much Keto Diamond.
I have made so many improvements since than Thank you
I love your video.
I loved your hand mixer from the 1970's!😃 Came over from your recent video on how frugal looks like 4 years later.😉
Thank you
I personally do in fact find your microwave adorable!
Lisa B God, I wish I had a dishwasher to use once a week, haha:)
Thank you so much. You are very kind.
I adore Lucy
at least shes house rich which many people arent.
When you are conservative with your money, you have a little more $$ to spend on other things like a home or car that you need.
True..
Curtain on ac arear for now may be a cheap fix for now :)
Please tell me what "house rich" means...
House is old.... if I were her, I would like to renovate the house....waste $100k ....
You are correct, as one gets older we appreciate things and tend to have less of these "things". My husband and I have sold our home, given much of our things to our grown children and are living life in our RV free from debt. Life is great.
That is wonderful Melissa
My best frugal tip: I brown a 3-pound tube of ground beef, drain, & divide into 6 pkgs, then freeze. Half a lb. is plenty for most dishes, especially with cheese. Then I'm not tempted to use too much & cuts calories. I do the same with sausage for breakfast meals and biscuits & gravy.
Great tip!
I love tea
I do a lot of what you described too, my library is one of the best kept secrets around, I stopped buying books years ago, and get everything I want from the library, along with new release DVD's, books for my grandkids, etc. Usually at some point in life you find out how little you can get by with. Plus I've never liked a lot of junk or stuff around and a cluttered home, so for me its great.
I need to go to the library more. Great comment.

I am glad you donate, that should be part of being frugal.
I so agree.
That hand mixer should be a collectible at this point lol. It's not about having the best and newest things but rather enjoying what you have and making the most out of it. Thanks for sharing Money Mom. I am going to share our cheap and frugal living as well.
Thank you. I can not wait to see your video on this.
I love vintage items.
I do want to do some updates. Thank you so much for your kind comment.
This lady is fantastic what a philosophy on life....go girl go..and her home looked lovely to me..
Thank you so much Paul
I am all about using what you have & keeping it simple. To save money I try to cook most meals, make my own laundry detergent, do my own repairs, grow my own veggies and soo many more little things that have a big impact. My SUV is 10 years old, but it looks great and only needs some repairs...it's all paid off and I'm gonna keep it until it's not financially worth it. I am teaching my 3 kids to value things and their time and money and I'm so happy to say that they all have jobs and are really smart with their money and not impulsive or wasteful. You're right...we have a throw away society and it's terrible.
I could learn from you!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@@CentsibleLivingWithMoneyMom Oh and the thing I'm most proud of is that I do Not own a credit card!
Thank you so much. I'm building my house from scratch. I really needed to see this. God bless you 💘.

I love you too
You can buy used books on Amazon (sometimes only $1.99) from Salvation Army and Goodwill.
My local Goodwill sells their books 4 for $1.00. Can you get every book you want? Absolutely not. But often times I find one (or several!) that I like more than the one I thought I wanted!!! Its like being on a search for hidden treasure! Especially true for cookbooks!! Lol
You are so smart! 🥰
Thank you 🤗
When we moved cross country we sold the big stuff then packed our 2 cars full with the heavy small expansive stuff then shipped them and once we got to our new home we bought the basic stuff from thrift stores
That is so smart
Now this is a video I will rewatch often. I’ve had t deal with a lot of depression because most of my family have passed away and I want to save everything.
I am so very sorry for you loss on family member.
My mother was married to a wealthy man who owned Le Creuset cookware. I liked it and bought several pieces. The price is very high but these pieces last your lifetime and your descendants lifetime. I learned that buying top quality products in the end save money because they never fall apart and don't need to be replaced.
I know you must love your cookware
You are so awesome , just love your attitude, and don't change a thing , because you'll be broke. God bless
Thank you Donna.
