@@Prizm17 Nope… what I as told long ago, (and I play maybe once or twice a year) is to always hit the center of the ball… in the last couple months is when I’ve tried the variations and I realized, I just started playing pool… I don’t know what that was that I was doing before 😂😂😂😂
@@Mayelito7Im also a casual player who only plays a few times a year. I remember when I realised you don't have to hit the white dead centre, when you're just a very casual player it's quite a revelation but still takes quite a bit of practice to get the spin just right
I remember figuring this out on my own really quick when playing against my dad when I was 7. Didnt know why it worked but I knew when i hit the ball close to the wall i needed to hit a closer to the wall than normal or it bounced away. Haven't played in 12 years but this brought up that memory of learning to win against him.

English on you the Q ball changes every aspect of your game. Definitely something worth taking the time and patience to learn even if you play once in a while.
People underestimate this game so much. I started for the first time in my life in January of this year and am on my way to Vegas in February if you find the right people they can help you better yourself!
I agree those snooker players are amazing and their mechanics probably are definitely better overall and I wish my stroke was as good as theirs but that's what most grew up playing. If that's what I grew up playing I would probably have developed the skills to play that as I'm very hand eye coordinated. I also can draw the ball from the length of the table away all the way back it definitely takes a smooth powerful stroke. Chris melling has effortless power he has aling bridge for me I can't use that long of a bridge. It's easier to build up speed through the cue with a longer bridge and easier to see to aim as well it's like a gun a long barrel is easier to aim that a short barrel. I have only ever even shot on a snooker table one time and it was only like 20 shots when I was in Vegas. But pool here is definitely tough I actually think straight pool is the best game and I would love to have 3 cushion billiards tables around here
Top left is still alittle iffy for that shot. Unless you have a follow up that’s near that pocket. Table speed differences could change that into a scratch table condition greatly changes the game play. Great videos! I love them!

you can actually hit it normally, of course unlike in this video you need to be death center, the pov was not hitting it death center, thats why instead of going along with the wall, it seperated before it hit the other ball.Thing is that likely the white ball will continue rolling and also fall into the hole. So maybe hitting it a little lower from the center but still aligned in the middle, will allow you to make a great shot.
Today, I saw a man make a really nice ring out of a spoon and I was impressed. Now I’ve just found the tutorial I wish I’d had back in my pool playing youth. Great video. Thanks for the tips
Follow through is not straight - it's almost always goes to the left causing the cue ball skid to the right bumping object ball into the cusion. Left spin with low speed just making compensation curve. But if you hit the ball hard with the left spin deflection would be even bigger and you won't pot the ball.
I love watching when he finally makes the shot and then the cue rolls off in the direction he kept missing. Proving the table just uneven and the left English was essentially just masseying(idk how to spell it) back into the proper contact point.
I can 100% pot that ball without any spin. Top tip for people who are new to using spin- not every shot needs it. Some like this I believe can be potted without however it would be better to apply some. If you have natural angle to get position on your next shot without using spin then you don't need to. I see to many people apply spin when it's not needed and ruin their position. Different levels of power have different impact on spin so it would be worth practising so you know what power is best to use as you play
The first and third shots when he made the ball, were the only ones that he shot the cue ball straight down the rail. Regardless of what spin he used, the others still wouldn't have made the shot.
Straight ball no matter tops or middle or bottoms, this shot can be made inside juice is the easiest in a sense outside juice can also be done as I have on snooker table but you have to hit that ball so good for it to go in and the cue ball will take off with juice of that rail then hit the other 2 and end up back to almost the same spot you shot it from the bulk line where the colors go I have a video of that a shot I did nice video
Used to be really good at this shot. Didn't play for a couple of years and when I started playing again I was really bad at it. To be honest, I didn’t know what I was doing before VS now. Just got this shot back. 🎉
If you wonder why a frozen ball hit parallel to the cushion will virtually always bounce inwards, its largely because the ball is much smoother than the cushion, and deforms much less. The fact the cushion isnt as microscopically smooth as the ball means any small bump will cast the ball centrewards. The spin helps mitigate it by introducing a torque moment perpendicular to the contact face of the cushion, helping to propel the ball along the cushion face. A molecular-scale smooth, flat cushion wouldn't bounce the ball inwards unless the ball was struck into the cushion to begin with. The microscopic plane of incidence would perfectly align with the macroscopic plane of the cushion. Edit: typo of any, formerly and, in the sentence 'The fact the cushion isnt as microscopically smooth as the ball means any small bump will cast the ball centrewards.'
The english does pot the ball with a better leave depending on what other balls are around, but he is simply cueing the the left on the straight shots, making the cue ball hit the wall before making contact with the object ball, making them both go right of the pocket. Just learn to cue straight first. Then learn nuance.
One of my favorite shots other than bouncing the cue ball over another ball into mine. Makes some people wonder who they decided to play pool with 😂 😂😂😂
Physicists love comparing particles to billiard balls, but particles are points. They don't have a spherical surface, they aren't just little balls, they can't spin. So billiards behave very differently
I know exactly where to hit the ball on a simple shot like this, from so many hours of virtual pool in the early '00s. I'm super uncoordinated irl though, so i could never pull it off on a real table 😂
Maybe one day i will play billiards. And I will be in this situation. And the memory of this video will dust itself off and step out of the deepest corner of my mind. And if that day ever comes i will probably sink the cue ball.
Icl i dont think this is right, u were using way to little power, when using spin u wanna make sure that the ball still travels in a straight line, this simply wasnt the case here...
It all have to do where the white ball hits the other ball. All his misses were because the white ball hit on the side and not on the centre on the other ball
Amazing how the origin of the hit makes such huge impact where the ball goes.
Oh yeah...shocker. I wonder if this applies to applying curve to a football also?🤣

Don’t believe it!
He didn't hit the 14 ball square until later when he used the left spin. Not a good comparison

This clip taught me more than years of trial and error…
You telling me in YEARS of playing pool you never figured out how to hit a ball off the rail? 😭😂
True... but not true. In all of the first hits, the ball is being hit on the right, so it obviously bounces off the cushion and goes away...

No that's an excellent, to the point, short. Well done.
Possibly the single most helpful pool visual I’ve encountered, great content
You need to level that table
He needs to also shoot accurately when applying the wrong check n the white ball. Most of those shots would have missed even with left check
Yeah white rolls to the right after the 14 goes in, and nothing to do with the spin either.

Thank god someone said it

Top inside is the scariest to use. If you have a lot of deflection in the shaft, and a good stroke, it will invariably out you in the pocket, ime.

If you just aim to shoot the ball in the pocket as if there's no object ball with top English you can make the shot as well
This is because the ball bends slightly in the direction of the point
