I personally don't believe in ju ju, mojo, luck, etc., but I do believe in faith. When I bowled in league growing up, I found it hard to believe in myself, but after getting back into bowling about 4 years ago, I have come a long way and I have learned that having faith in my game really helps boost my scores. After all, bowling is a very mental game and it's easy to start beating yourself up every time you think you threw a bad shot or you threw a good shot but it didn't strike. I don't get frustrated much anymore. What works for me is just laughing it off and moving on to the next frame. I just keep telling myself that I love bowling and I want to keep getting better. I have faith in you, Brad, and so do your many fans. 🙂
Hope tomorrow is much better. Thanks for your honesty. Sometimes that "combination" just doesn't exist!! Kyle, just go slow and take it easy. You can't rush a back injury, trust me on that one.
I was enlightened at 1:10 as Brad talks about rev rate and playing the pattern. It's ironic how we amateurs get wrapped up in maximum rev rate and hooking it from the parking lot. While some of the winningest bowlers in PBA history rolled right up the back of the ball with huge success. I'd probably put up better scores if I could get over the ridiculous need to hook the $h!t...out...of...it all the time.
It was tough to watch yesterday Brad. Tons of splits. But you got the fresh this morning. Keep your head up and go lights out so I can watch you again in March play tomorrow! Side note: was cool to see the clip of Kyle signing my old spare ball in the clip 🤙
This, unfortunately, is one of the issues with getting bowling back in the spotlight. Everyone thinks they can bowl and they don't understand the differences in what the pros do compared to what league is.
Transition and breakdown on the PBA tour...You can't replicate it in practice or anticipate it in competition...the struggle is real! Hang in there Brad and trust your process...your time will come.
Thx for sharing as usual , great to see the insight to the challenge presented out there , its obvious even some super talented players just don't match up on certain days or find the combination to the safe out there, everyone is an expert til they get out there then realize how hard it has to be moving pair to pair and different shots weekly, mad respect for all who try. Good luck to both of you this season
really appreciate the whole deep dive into superstitions.... Played baseball tell college and I remember there was so many things that we felt caused bad luck.... Camera showed it for yall LOL
Hey when you guys get a chance can you make a video talking more about splits. Kinda what Brad was touching on at the end. What causes splits/ways to avoid splitting.
I changed to urethane and I never miss the pocket anymore. I leave corner pins like crazy but if I stay clean, I shoot 220's. When I go to resin and more hand, I split like crazy. I do get more strikes with resin but way more splits too. I hate splits.
I bowled on bear last night. Pretty much the same lane surfaces. Big misses to the right found the pocket. Tiny misses 1 or 2 boards in or out was the difference between leaving a washout or a goofy split. By the time I moved left of 25 we had the pattern destroyed. But we will be practicing on it a few nights a week until may.
Suggestion if it's not too much work: Can you add a little graphic at the bottom showing us what ball is being rolled during the shots? I'd like to know what these guys are rolling. Some are obvious but most aren't.
We sat on the high end, and they were brutal for nearly everyone. I even saw belmo throw his spare ball down the middle on a fill talking bout he couldn't get the ball through the middle.
I think that says something about rev rate. If for the most part, alot of the lower rev guys have the most titles. Or it could just be a factor of guys like that have bowled for 20-30 plus years, so they accumulate titles. Or it could be a combination of both. Either way, its pretty cool. 👍
Not necessarily about this video, but I found your guys teaching videos very helpful, I kinda have an idea for one that would kinda help me. Surface pads. What do they do. I know they change the ball and different amounts do different things, but an in-depth explanation of 1000 vs 5000 would be great. Just for a better understanding of what it actually does and looks like
I am sad that Kyle didn't bowl but when I think about it, he made the right decision seeing as towards the end they were lofting so he definitely made the right decision. Hope to see you out on the lanes this season.
I know this is not very related to the video, but I need to know: “How does Stu Williams bowl with such a short follow through” (he was in the video somewhere). I get he’s a pro, but it is fascinating because focusing on follow through is one of those things you are taught in bowling. Any thoughts?
Is it not practical to throw a plastic ball not quite, but almost straight? Maybe it would break 5-10 boards? It may not look pretty but, whatever would work right?
Slower ball speed with over/under= splits It looked like on your good shots after the 1st two games you weren’t rolling the ball forward(underneath hand position) Good luck on the next 8!
Brad needs to develop that killer instinct you know bowl with some attitude. Tommy Jones looks downright scary when he’s on. Brad is too nice to the pins 😂
Can anyone tell me why there are no stats from the 2021 season on the pba website? Have gotten into pro bowling last few months and love looking at stats of guys and no one has 2021 stats.
Angles are so deep...catch the oil on the unused portion of the lane and the ball doesn't hook. Leaves you with a bunch of washouts and 2-8-10s...bowling is hard! These sport patterns aren't no joke! They make the the best bowlers in the world look like novice players. The only difference between the man who wins this tournament and the last place cash is less than one degree of launch angle off the hand.
I really dont care what anyone says Kris has the smoothest game ever. Im finally putting him over my original favorite Mike Fagan. I mean my god its just like 20 year scotch on ice when he throws that ball. Its effortless, smooth, and just stunning.
Yea, big time agree. Watching this vid and seeing all the pros throw. When the brief clip of Prather comes on and you see this guy is just in a different zone. From what I've seen so far this season, he looks even better than in the past. No titles yet this year but he's definitely raised him game and looks definitely like a top 5 guy this year.
i keep seeing all these patterns, and the arms race of bowling balls, then trying to make all these balls fit the breakdown... why not just throw a "mix" more straight up.
Brad… you look depressed brother. Just go bowl one frame at a time and enjoy it. Your doing what you love and making a living doing it! Keep your spirits up! You’ll get there! ✌️
May I ask how the coaching membership works? Does it rely on video submitted by members? I'm interested but not sure how good I would be at filming myself bowling. I have tried it at our lanes but the lighting is not good.
Members submit their own videos to be reviewed. We have a video made on some tips and trick to film yourself so we can better analyze your game. This applies to poorly lit bowling alleys as well 😉
@@BradandKyleBowl That sounds good. l may join next week. How does the ball of choice work out? Do you ship it to me? Do I have to pay to have it drilled at my pro shop? Thanks
Why not play less break and more direct when the conditions get so difficult using a plastic ball if needed. Take out the unknowns. You will be surprised how well you might score.
Oh you know I got to thinking when I noticed that you and Kyle look burned-out on this game: I know the feeling: Even with all of my knowledge of the game I still would have a hard time doing in, and ironically I could maybe do pretty-good keeping up with you pro bowlers even with my right-half-foot being amputated: I might be able to find a way to get the ball down the lane and do pretty good even though I'm a amputee. But I thought about what my friend named Steve who was a pro bowler back in either the 70.'s or early 80.'s who told me this: "It Gets Old", bowling gets old, and you never find an end-all cure for the game. Brian Vos said that anything is easier to gamble against than in bowling, Golf is easier he said. He wouldn't want to gamble anybody in this game. Scientifically he is right because it is Uncertain that you will get her ball to take the same path every time you throw it down there. So it does get old beleive me. good luck.
How strict is the PBA's dress code? Like could I make Air Jordan Bowling shoes and wear baggy sweats like its the early 2000's? Paluscek, Troupe and now even Robarge have their very flashy and unique outfits lol
Only me thinking what would happen if a whole game had to be played with ball with no core and the dye taken out of the oil. And two hand bowl was banned. ..
It wasn't Zac that got in because of Kyle. He got in because of the big nasty withdrawing. Tomas Kohkyo (I don't know how to spell it, sorry) got in for Kyle and finished 4th, I believe
Are you kidding, bowling is difficult to master whether one is a professional or not. That's even with the THS, all the technology, & all the variables. Used to be unheralded skill, pinpoint accuracy, & the ability to make proper adjustments on the fly. Now it's matching up dozens upon dozens of bowling balls on dozens upon dozens of different lane conditions, oiling patterns & ever changing topographies. Back then, earn it. Today it's more of, buy it, & it still may not be enough, & that is with no guarantees.
Brad you need to bowl in the off season....I never see you guys bowl ever in the off season...bowl regional or even league...you come into the pba season rusty

Cool tech bowling brad and Kyle
Did Brad and Kyle delete the video of Brad saying his Pitch Black tested at 68? 😬 I just heard Barnes and Stu calling him out on it
Never give up!!!!
Great analysis to start the vlog Brad.
Wish you could have bowled Kyle.. That slow wheel is right in your drop zone!
Tons of respect to you for posting this. Sometimes the struggle is real man lol. They all can't be 300.

Great Pro tip...lol
Keep rollin boys.

Good job Brad just roll it from a neutral end over end hand position
Great show of pba life
Leave the clouding to Flanagan haha
Yes "you shouldn't throw splits ", but what do you think is happening to cause that and what can be done about that?

I notice Brad is standing up and coming out of his shots more this year than he has in the past.

Slower ball speed with over/under= splits

Keep your head up and be proud you’re bowling with the greats!! I honestly wish I could say the same
Do they reoil between squads?
As much as I like to bowl on challenging conditions, I know I couldn't compete with these folks. It looks like a grind.
Use pearl symmetrical and change your release?
isnt it possible to lower your rev rate and adjust to lane in that way?
Just remember your basics, keep a good attitude and don't worry about the other guys. It'll come around.
Great decision Kyle! Be patient. I would hate to see your career cut short from a poor decision.
Youshould put "There's only 39 boards on a lane" on a shirt and put it in the Merch shop
Brad needs to develop that killer instinct you know bowl with some attitude. Tommy Jones looks downright scary when he’s on. Brad is too nice to the pins 😂
I love how Mikey Tang is like ya you can do it too. Just do it 13 times it's easy
Can somebody explain how the scoring works? What does 120 over mean? Is that good? Is that bad?
Over 200 or under 200. 190 is 10 under, 176 is 24 under, 215 is 15 over. So if you shoot 1650 for 8 games you are 50 over., etc..
@@gottadrivem5878 thank you!

Why sand the ball on a short pattern?
Blend/smooth out the reaction so it's more controllable and less jumpy.
Every single length of pattern requires some kind of surface adjustment
