REBELS is astounding. And the art is beautiful. Time for a reread. And I had no idea Ennis wrote Etrigan! Well, like you said, Garth Ennis just can’t sell a book. But please give me Hitman first. I’ll scream Justin Gray and Jimmy Palmiotti’s (with plenty of Darwyn Cooke), Jonah Hex run.
I also vote for their Jonah Hex run being underrated. While loud, brash, unfocused tales get omnibus treatment - their work, which is some of the smartest writing I have read, needs more love.
For me Denny O' Neil's The Question is long overdue for an Omnibus release, One of the best series of the 1980's and one that really deserves more exposure than it's gotten.
I want HERO by Will Pfiffer. 22 issues. Storyarcs with art by Kano (#1-6, 9-11), Patrick Gleason (#7-8), Leonard Kirk (#12-14) and Dale Eaglesham(#15-22)
This is a great video. I love content about stuff that isn’t in the mainstream. It is just so hard to find good comic stories these days. The comic book industry is so diluted now. I definitely need to check out some of these story arcs.
You can't sing the praises of Jeff Parker loud enough IMO. I feel he is an all around underrated writer. Agents of Atlas, FutureQuest, James Bond Origins, Flash Gordon ...he writes clever, engaging tales while respecting the characters' history. Thanks for the video. As always, I appreciate your insights.
Thanks for this - interesting stuff! I was a big DC guy growing up, and I don’t know how under the radar this stuff is now, but runs I think should get more appreciation/visibility would be Rick Veitch Swamp Thing, Mark Millar Swamp Thing, James Robinson Starman, Morrison Aztek, and Denny O’Neill The Question. I’ve also got a soft spot for Ragman and The Heckler (both by Giffen), but no idea if they hold up 25-30 years later.
REBELS was indeed a criminally underrated series. I'm surprised Bedard didn't get more writing work from it and that Andy Clarke didn't go on to become a superstar artist. He seemed poised to with some brief work on Batman. But, yeah, Vril Dox is a great character and DC canceling vol 5, the last bit of the series was crap. Would love to see it fully collected in a couple of thick trades or an omnibus. While they are it they should also collect Vril Dox original comic runs in LEGION (89, 90, 91, 92) and the original 90s REBELs series. Both were also good though the Bedard series is my favorite of the three Dox series.
I started reading Aquaman since The New 52 till today. With the exception of a couple of stories near the end of New 52 it has always been solid. I would add: - RED LANTERNS. It is a great series but also weird. It can be divided into two parts. One deals with the Red Lanterns proper lead by Atrocitus while the second the focus is on Guy Gardner (as he becomes a Red Lantern and the new leader of the group). And while I really enjoyed Guy's leadership I would have prefered to have stayed with Atrocitus' story a little longer. More so because many times it had to tie with what was going on with Green Lantern. Still, a very enjoyable comic. -HAL JORDAN AND THE GREEN LANTERN CORPS (despised not having Hal's name on the title as he has a secret identity and even Guy and John are Green Lanterns). Still, nothing compares to the boring run Venditti did in the New 52. Here it is fun and very quick paced. -EARTH 2 : My first venture into a story from a different universe. Never was into them and much less with the JSA but decided to give it a try. It is REALLY good and the art is gorgeous. Later on the series continues titled something else...but then I had to drop it. Still, it is great run. A couple more from Rebirth: JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA (if just for having Lobo there) and TRINITY. Also, The Creeper 6 issues run Pre- New 52.
I just wanna say I super appreciate your videos mike I’m gonna pick up the Aquaman omnibus by johns I didn’t plan on continuing the run because people said they didn’t like it but if you say it’s great I’m gonna get it for sure 😊-Side Note I recently finished the justice league NEW 52 run and I loved it I was wondering what you thought about it including you guys in the comments as well 😊
james atkins I really enjoyed New 52 JL, but I will say it was the Throne of Atlantis story that really took the series to a new level, and it just got better from there
Love the custom bind dust jackets you make, so awesome!

Completely agreed with the Jonah Hex run before the New 52 and Hitman which inexplicably hasn’t been collected.
Shade the Changing Man by Peter Milligan..... never collected in HC. Is there an issue with the Ditko?
Trajce Niceski Ditko doesn’t get enough love! I second Shade being collected in HCs

cha5 Agreed! I would imagine now with his passing that DC will collect more of his material. I hope...
is coming!

Video Guy Absolutely! There are so many titles out and many of them border on the mediocre. Glad I could bring some new stories to your attention!
While we're at it, we need a Geoff Johns/ Dan Jurgens booster gold omnibus

I loved Etrigan in Saga of Swamp Thing, so I tried to get into the original Kirby book. Found it a tough read, but this Ennis run looks awesome!

Thank you for your support! Much appreciated!
I’d love to see a collection of Ostrander and Mandrake’s Spectre
Wow you've got me into a lot of comic/graphic novel series on this channel you need more subscribers
Would like DC to release the Pre-52 Bluebeetle run with Keith Griffin/John Rogers. I'd take that in any format.
I enjoy these hidden gem, underrated lists of yours.
would love a follow up to johns' aquaman run. loved it. would love a midnighter omni to put next to my authority and planetary books.
I didn’t even know any of these existed! I did like seeing Etrigan, he’s such an underrated character
From the DC Rebirth run, I think that Blue Beetle is very underrated.
You’ve got me super interested in that GL run but I’m still trying to get the GJ run first haha
Great list of books. I would add the Palmiotti/Gray Jonah Hex, Johns/Donner Superman and Frankenstein and the Agents of Shade.
There is only one omnibus DC could announce that I would immediately buy no questions asked: a Tim Drake Robin omni

Sam Kienbaum Fantastic picks! I’d love to see all of those as well (without cancellations dammit!)
