      Footlong bacon, egg, and cheese is $7.99 in Florida. Everything else is like $10 to $14+ ... And the bacon egg and cheese is tucked away on the corner of the menu, like an afterthought, but it comes with 4 eggs so it's probably the most satisfying thing I can still get at subway. Still pretty light though, but doesnt weigh me down like other heavier, more cost effective breakfast sandwiches. Provides a solid illusion of nourishment. Deliciousish.

    At this point I'm convinced Subway is being carried financially by people with a comfortable disposable income that don't really care about the cost. Or the fact that its very mediocre food. Its people who want something fast and easy at a convenient location. Either way there are plenty of other sandwich chains out there that offer much better bang for buck. If you want great sub sandwich hit up Jersey Mike's and don't look back.

      What? I think the dilemma is that people like you never venture out to the majority of places where Subway is reasonably priced. I can get a turkey footlong for $8 in New Mexico. And when I need to feed the whole family, I just use the monthly mailed coupon that is 3 footlongs for $18 (i.e. only $3/person if everyone eats a 6 inch).

      @@randomoneforstuff3696I wouldn’t waste the time driving to a city where Subway is cheaper because A. The food quality is average at best and B. I can think of at least 4 sandwich shops both local and chain in my area that are cheaper and taste better.

    As a Subway employee, I completely agree that the prices are ridiculous. In Indiana, the most expensive footlong is only $12, which is still crazy expensive. How in the world is a mid-price footlong SIXTEEN DOLLARS where you live? That's crazy.

    • @brianmarkgriffin
      @brianmarkgriffin  8 месяцев назад +6

      This place is interesting. You can see in that drone shot that it isn't a densely populated are. There are about 300,000 people here, but it's not a place you would assume would have $5 McDoubles. There are a few factors that contribute to that, but the biggest one is that we have some incredibly successful chains. We have one of the highest grossing Red Robins in the world. It's just how people here eat, and places can charge whatever they want.

    The sandwich I usually get at Subway is a chicken bacon ranch, with pepper Jack cheese. Adding pepperoni and salami. Very meaty sandwich but it's very good. I use to be able to get that sandwich for $10 dollars when I was in high school. Now a days, I'd be lucky to see the price of the sandwich alone under $20. It's atrocious that I have to pay that much for a damn sandwich.

    Even the seafood and crab sub, if it still existed, would not be worth $16.
    Watching you shop at Walmart brought back memories. I used to shop there as well. How fortunate you are to select your socks and put them in the cart without first having to locate an employee with a key to unlock the sliding glass door where they are shelved. Virtually everything is under lock and key at our local store. Everything that is except for books. Those don’t seem to pose a shoplifting threat.
    By the way, the best sub I ever ate was from a local mom and pop joint when I lived in Portland Oregon. So good.

  • @PongGod

    If you think Subway has become overpriced, go check out Five Guys. They've become absurdly expensive. Last time I went (about 2 years ago), I ordered a bacon cheeseburger, small fries and a medium fountain drink. The total was over $21 and that's in Houston. I could easily imagine it being 20% higher on the west coast where you are.

    I've been a little suspect of Subway since our niece threw up all over our bathroom floor after eating one of their tuna salad sandwiches. If I want a sub, Mr Goodcents, or Goodcents as they've changed their name to, is the way to go. And they're not $16 either!

    I started going to Subway again like last year or something as a way to stop myself from getting worse fast food. Honestly, I've always liked the taste of Subway, I know some hate it though. I stopped going months ago though because the price just kept going up and up. I was already getting the cheapest sandwiches they had, unless I had a coupon or reward points on the app, then I'd get a steak sub or something. The price has probably gone up $2 in the past year on the regular subs. I don't even wanna go near the new subs that are way more expensive. It's just not worth it when I can make good sandwiches or wraps at home, and there's also the Too Good To Go app (I don't know if it's available in the US), where you can get food from grocery stores and restaurants that's around the best before date but still good to eat for a fraction of the price. It saves you money and saves food from being wasted. Why pay $15 for one sandwich when you can pay $5 and get 3 somewhere else?

    26 is a bad score for a food that you say is "fine." If 100 is a perfect food and 0 is the worst thing you've ever eaten, then 50 would be an average dish. So 26 would be right in between average (kix, milky way, medium-well steak) and horrendous (dog meat, a basketball, peanuts (for you)). I think classifying it as fine and giving it a 26 shows a disconnect between review and score and it makes me mistrust prior and future reviews. Please do communion wafers next.
