That was back in the day when the damage model of bombers was a LOT more durable; so much so that in a gunfight between a fighter and a bomber’s defensive turrets, the bomber had a fairly good chance of winning.
I remember when this game first came it this plane was called The Death Star. Because back then the gunners would actually try and where almost 100% accurate. NOBODY would to for bombers and it was amazing.
The Death Star used to be an absolute menace back in the day when bombing was actually fun. Dont know how many times dudes would hunt down my B17 with this thing and Id get absolutely shredded by the cannon turrets.
Ah, the Death Star! While I was several years late in picking this up, this ended up being my most enjoyable prop bomber, and made the "uncomfortable" grind via the Japanese Bomber line worth it for me :D Still though, I do wish Japan got some more CAS options, or at the very least, I would personally love to see the MXY-7 Ohka implimented as a player controlled bomb on some of the Japanese bombers that could carry it
I get why the Ohka isn't in the game ... I can imagine it would be pretty controversial ... but I could live with them subbing in something like the Ki-148 I-Go MCLOS missile on planes that could carry the Ohka. Not 100% historic, but I could live with it.
@@TimsVarietyThere was a supposed Ohka Interceptor that replaced the warhead with a fuel tank and was armed with 2 20mm's either Ho-5 although given it was a Navy design probably the Type-99's.
Years ago (when the Guinea map was regular in rotation and was set up differently - the 3 pillbox/arty/aaa-clusters, remember?) this was my favorite bomber. I used it as "training plane" to level up crews to 75. Now i can choose between 3 crews on which the plane is aced. It's still much fun. Even for people who are not specialized in playing bombers.
Maybe in 2064 Gaijin will do something innovative with air RB and make planes like this viable again. Until then, we are still sadly playing the same game from 2014.

I was recently flying the Nakajima G8N1 & heh yeah you gotta watch those high G turns as rip went a wing tip in a failed bombing run but it ain't all bad as you can still fly pretty level & defend yourself & land perfectly even with basic control schemes. (How the hell do you fail to shot down a critically damaged aircraft WITH A JET!!!... But I shot down a Republic F-84B & landed heh heh). I probably wouldn't try using a G8N in NF as naval AA is evil be it player AI, Player manned, Player manned aided via radar lock, or just poxy gaijin AI which has accuracy of a TF2 Sniper even with a 6.5 mm MG & or of course someone with a RIM-24A, a Nettuno AShM or a V-600P so you can't really do much there.
Sucks as I don't honestly think they'll ever address bombers 1st person view Pretty sure the JU288C or whatever the premium on is for Germany has a "place holder" one to and you pay for that
P-51C: I have you now... P-51D: I know what I must do. Unsure how true this prob not but the G5N1 and G8N1 both derived from the cancelled Project Z aka the G10N.
Playing a bomber at this BR is rough as well as playing most bombers in WT. I tried just playing bombers for quite awhile and I just couldn't handle it anymore cause you have no say in the game pretty much can't turn the tide of the battle Im on the this bomber and its just rough to be playing a slow BIG fat Boy in that BR specially when there is a bunch of Ju288 that just over match your speed by far. I did like when the R2Y2 was considered a bomber I chose that over these big slow boys. They were actually considered an attacker/ high speed bomber for the defense of Japan but we all know how other players didn't like it having that air spawn.
I'm waiting for some current world events to simmer off a little. I don't want a third world war happening in the comments. (Some of the stuff youtube automatically moderated out of the comments on past Israeli jets was ... disturbing ...)

I really like that you review Largely unpopular vehicles, even bombers. I really like the appearance of those old-school four-engine planes.
Japanese vehicles are always so interesting, the sheer difference in doctrine between them and the rest of the world results in such unique vehicles.
They also look beautiful, except a few exceptions.

Gaijin removed 4th 800 kg bomb from it, while historically it could carry 4 of them, instead of 3, like currently in the game
G5N can still carry 4 right now, which i thought was weird
