I have been searching for a tutorial on this acf/custom fields/WP 5.9+. Out of the blue RUclips listed this as a "suggested" video to watch. I can now see myself doing so much with this short tutorial. Thank you so much.
Thank you for the great video. Though, I believe that there was one thing missing. And that is filtering and search on the archive page. A listing website is incomplete without filtering. The user will want to sort by: director, date, genre, rating... Consider making a part 2 of this At some point, someone probably will create plugin / block for displaying dynamic data. But, that will be a bad day for all these companies that reserve dynamic data handling for the PRO versions of their plugins: Kadence, GenerateBlocks, Corocoblock, Elementor, Spectra, ACF Blocks, Stackable...
Thanks for the tutorial! Using WordPress v5.9 I couldn't get the query block to work for the single post template. It would display all the posts instead of only a single post. My workaround was using post fields for the title, and shortcode for the ACF data. The query block for the listings template worked fine though.
I had the same issue, Nice Solution! I think is much more minimalistic and I'll be using short-codes instead. My work around was using Kadence Blocks which have similar functionality to stackable. But again, I rather not install those plugins at all.
This is a great tutorial. I was able to recreate this with the team members of my office. I did do some updating as like others have stated not all these plugins are needed any longer. What I would like to know is if it's possible to open the single post page in a popup modal instead of another page? I've been looking all over for a solution and I haven't found anything yet.
Thanks for another great video Jamie. I'm trying to use it with WP 6.3.1 and a Twenty Twenty-three Child theme. The new templates I created are displaying in the Editor, but are not available in the page settings when I create a new page. Any thoughts? Thanks again, Tom
Thank you! great video! I am now struggling with ACF relationship fields and Stackable Pro. Let's say I create a CPT for Actors and I set a relationship (object or ID) with the CPT "films" but only the ones they participated in. Then I would like to create a template to display a single actor information with some custom fields and the movies from the relationship field. Any suggestions?
Thank you so much for this. Bye Bye Elementor and Crocoblock. Quick question. When I go to appearance / templates there isn't a drop down for templates. Any ideas. Thanks
Did you figure this out? Same boat, I don't have template under Appearance. Using WP 6.02 so Gutenberg is already installed. Did this option move since this video was made?
@@caraudiocentral HI. I did figure it out. The main plugin's I'm using are. Advanced Custom Fields Pro, Custom Post Type UI, Gutenberg and Stackable. Under Appearance I see Themes, Editor Beta, Menus and Widgets. If you click on Editor and then click on the Black WordPress logo in the upper most part of your "Side Column" that reveals the Templates and Template Parts where you can customize and save your templates. Let me know if you work this out. If you can't I can help you with it some more.
I have got a solution for that: just go for Appearance >> Editor it will open the front end view. Press on the WP Logo of the left top >> Templates >> On the top right side press Add new >> Custom Template and name it whatever you want. I know its little confusing and a bit long, but its the only way around i know of.

Jamie, great video. Just one question, how does stackable handle an ACF datepicker date? GenerateBlocks has similar features to Stackable. However it doesn't yet allow users to translate a stored ACF date (YYYYMMDD) into a nice date. This is a big drawback.
Hi, I don't think stackable handles datapickers , but need to check. Agreed it would be great to have it. Ideally, I'd love to see someone build a dedicated Dynamic Content plugin for Gutenberg that didn't require a block library like stackable or generateblocks.
This free plugin will do the trick now wordpress.org/plugins/display-a-meta-field-as-block/ - also this is possible in core now (but it's not very user friendly)
@@jamiewp The custom field I'm trying to apply is a URL. Meta field as a block seems to allow me to display the field, but not apply the field values to a button block, or as a link. Any solutions there would be appreciated. If I figure it out first I'll share :)
I'm starting to think that I can import my radio shows into WordPress. I have a CSV file with headers like episode name, year, playlist etc... Is this possible in WordPress?
Have you used Blockbase by Automattic? I can not find where to selece Post Type in that theme. I see Advanced Custom Fields, but not CPT. Great videos!
Hi, they're actually quite different - think of hooks as places within themes and plugins you can do things (like add functions). Whereas custom fields are extra information you can add into posts.
Is there any way to add dynamic content to a template without having stackable pro? The free version doesn't allow you to use this feature. And for someone just wanting to practice using Wordpress and creating a personal site. Paying for a yearly plugin doesn't really make sense.
Great Video. Just wondering why no one cares much to cover PODs or Toolset! They are more complete plugins and you only need a single plugin unlike ACF and Jet Engine..
Hi, good question - there's quite a few tutorials on POD's and Toolset and they are great plugins. At the moment I'm trying to focus on what's becoming possible with Full Site Editing in December.
Interesting, why do you think JetEngine isn't complete yet? I've made a dynamic plugins comparison (JetEgnine vs Toolset vs ACF vs MetaBox) and JetEngine can do even more :D
We are using Toolset, which quietly is a real power solution that does about everything. It has been around for years but few notice it. Here is one video on Toolset+ Kadence Theme/Blocks, which is what we're using. ruclips.net/video/HN5vefSJTVA/видео.html
The only paid plugin you need is stackable (for the dynamic content display from acf) and i suspect this will be filled very quickly once fse becomes mainstream). And stackable pro is $10 cheaper than toolset. But my general point is that much of this is coming to core now.
We've been using Toolset for many years. They now provide dynamic Gutenberg blocks, which is great. It's very powerful. But it's far from free, and their blocks are not full-featured. WP, which soon will provide native site editing without the extra plugin, actually IS free. What Jamie shows in this video is far cheaper than our annual Toolset licence. But that point seems silly. The real point is that change is coming, again, and friendly people are warning you to pay attention.
Stackable v3 makes me feel anxious while building pages. Their latest update gets me go back to kadence blocks which is more intuitive for work, it is productive as elementor but faster. Am i missing something? What is your opinion? Also for woocommerce, woodmart still doesnt have competition, for building similar store with gutenberg we will need ton of plugins and still don achive the same. What is your solution for this?

This is amazing, thanks man. Probably someone already said this, but now its possible to accomplish all this directly with ACF only!
👍 and soon in core WordPress 😉
Really? I’m waiting for it to be available with core Wordpress. But until then, how to do it with ACF only? Thanks.
