People worry too much about how much a bike costs. When its quality its quality. Be more concerned about how much money it saves you on travel expenses on buses, trains etc. I spent £2,600 on a Tern Verge X11 in 2017. People said I was mad to spend that much on a folding bike. But its so awesome, fast and efficient amazing on hills. That I ride it virtually everywhere. And in the last 7 years. Its saved me over £20,000 in travel expenses. I would have spent on public transport. Plus I lost 32lbs and got in the best shape of my life. Its a win win.
If I had spent £400 on a heavy clumsy bike. I would have had no enthusiasm to ride it. Especially with the hills in my area..

Good points all around. My C line sits here because it is so heavy and cumbersome when I want to get on the subway or go to the grocery store and have to carry it. I have a hybrid bike that is lightweight and great for riding in the park but for traveling, the Brompton is great.

I also own a Verge X11 and a Verge X20, not sure if I really want a P Line or a C Line Brommy (Still researching)... it seems the X11 out performs the P Line in every way except for the more compact storage. I tried pushing a P Line in a bike shop and it was indeed harder to push compared to my Tern Link D8 fitted with a Rapid transit rack which I usually use for grocery or food runs etc.

Arr X20 love that bike too. Brompton is great for its compactness. But that's the only place it outshines a Tern or even a Dahon. I also have a Dahon MU SL. It's the lightest non carbon non titanium folder ever made. 19.4lbs without pedals. I have it kitted out with a rear rack, stand. Bottle holder, lights and a phone holder and bike computer. And it's still under 23.5lbs. Beautiful bike. And it compliments the X11 nicely.

😂 you talk about worrying too much about prices but then you talk about savings and costs. 🎉 Talking of prices are valid. The CEO of Brompton stated that his prices are premium prices for a premium crowd. He knows what he's doing. He can continue to ream those who can afford his Astro prices. Me? I'm a truck driver. I got a full on titanium 16 lb Brompton copy for less than half the price that Brompton is charging.

I love my 6 speed and 3 speed A line Bromptons which roll super easily when you add an extender, mini Q Rack and third party easy wheels. This really makes up for the benefit of saving a couple of kgs that the P line brings since I very rarely pick up the bikes but roll around. Joseph kousac easy wheels were pricy but well worth it, very robust and smooth rolling.

I have the P line and I find that I can ride longer than I can on my C line 6 speed. When I first rode it, I couldn't beleive how much lighter it was for me. I was ready to ride to the end of the trail (about 20 miles) but they closed down rthe last 10 miles due to construction. I plan to take it for some really long rides (50 plus) this fall.

You can’t get a more honest review than this, the guy loves his bike but admits the price of the bike was way to much for the weight savings. The part about the problem of rolling the bike was interesting. I have had a 20” wheel folder for about 3 years, l don’t even know if it can be rolled while folded or not, I’ve never been interested in doing so. Just carry it , ride it, or walk it unfolded, how many options do you need?

Perhaps the extra expense of the P Line can only be justified if you need to carry the bike a lot - such as up and down station stairs or if you live in the top floor apartment either no lift!

The Pline Is the only Brompton I would ever consider. The Tline is overpriced for certain for what it is. Still it's not a patch on my Tern Verge X11 which costs about the same. But it's the best Brompton for the money no question.
What Brompton have yet to get right is GEARING. They seem to think the whole world is like Holland. And bike worth it's salt should have gears that can go down to at least 27 gear inches and up to a decent ratio of 86. If Brompton can wake up and get this right. Without having to use complicated hybrids of hub and derailers. Then they will have something.
A bikes weight is relative. If you have a 200lb rider on a 16lb Tline. And a 190lb rider on a 22lb Pline. Who has the advantage?.

The small original "easy wheels" are useless on anything but a totally flat surface, and just to sell some extra large versions, which I did as a first (From China)! Also as a first I gave my bike (2019 SuperlightM6LXBrompton) a full Autopolish and found out that the useless small pieces of clear tape on the frame, one had been worn through to the paint, after only a few folds! "We know where it hurts, but we really don't care"!
So I bought a full set of frame protective plates for all known week spots on a Brompton!!
Since then I have found more light pieces for my Lightweight, with mudguards (I'm a Dane), so it is for now down to 9,35 kg and still with parts to be made even lighter! I hope to reach at least 9,0 - 8,5 kg? Finn. Denmark 😄

As I have made more lightweight additions on my bike, since I last weighed it, and still miss some extra changes, I am rather sure of having reached 9 kilo, and most likely also below that? And I still misses some major work on my mudguards clamps, which are definitely made from "Heavy Metal", and some more brake parts to titanium (Beware of the production year). I do hope and expect to come close to 8 kilo, and still with mudguards and 6 gears. Finn. Denmark?

@@Francis-xl2gu At first I bought the original, Brompton larger versions. And then some similar, nicer looking versions from the East (I have versions up to 10cm, rolling like a Tank, when folded!). China, Taiwan and Korea are the largest suppliers of better, lighter parts and equipment for a Brompton. Finn

I spent £2,400 on my amazing TERN VERGE X11. People said I was crazy. What they never considered..was how much money it was going to save me over the next 10 years in travel expenses. In the last 7 years its saved me over 20k on my commuting expenses. And at least another 5k on other travel expenses outside of work. Because its such an incredible machine you want to ride it everywhere. And I don't have a car. That's how you have to look at it.
How much are you going to use your bike. If its basically your only transport. 2 to 3 grand is NOTHING. People waste more than that on smoking in a year.
Cycling is one of the greatest things ever. You get transport, exercise and if like me can save alot more money than the bike cost. So it pays to get a quality efficient machine. That will last and give you the best ride possible. A cheap heavy bike on the hills I have to deal with will kill you. And you will give up and go back to expensive PUBLIC TRANSPORT.
