    I usually don't comment on utube videos. The one thing that stands out to me is your authenticity. That's a rare thing these days. Thank you for taking us with on your journey.

    I have been following AT hikers for a few years, and you seem one of the most sincere and opened hikers of the many. Your video was a great intro into you life and what you want to accomplish this year! I am looking forward to a great next 5 or 6 months. You can do it! I wish you the best, be safe but not sorry.......best of luck - Gary ( Garbear)

    Marissa, what a great video. All of your friends seem very supportive of your thru hike and convinced that you have the determination to do this. I look forward to following you. I've only hiked in the Johns Mountain WMA a few times but it is beautiful. Two things to leave you with; gotta have your coffee. There are several good instant coffee packets out there, check your local REI. Also, bad advice that person gave you about looking into the camera more. I could not vlog a thru hike if my life depended on it. I am clutzy enough when I am paying attention to the trail, much less trying to film. I admire anyone who pulls that off. But by all means, when you are moving forward, don't worry about us. We don't want to see you get hurt. God bless you as you get closer to your launch date.

      Oh, good point on not looking at the camera. Look at the rocks on the trail. Otherwise, prepare to spend more time than planned in Pennsylvania.

    Sorry i missed your last video of "About you". I have been very busy as of late and will have to backtrack and watch it.
    Anyways, Nice walk thru the pretty Blue Ridges and seeing your happy enthusiasm out there and getting to know about you. You have a great support group in your family , friends as well as here on YT. , And i suspect with all the beauty you will see in your upcoming journey northward, and with lots of time in nature to give you some inspirational thoughts on what you may actually consider in your future and career after you return and unwind, take time take it all in and reflect on what you had accomplished on the trail and in life so far.
    Thank you for sharing, Everything!.., and i loved the walk, the frozen waterfall as i went out doing that very same thing today even though its very frigid here in southern Appalachians as it makes the waterfalls take on an added new beauty, and i do hope your dad is restfully recovering well.

    I really liked this video! It was great to hear more about you, especially from your friends (who are clearly loyal and supportive). With a support system like that, you should feel confident that you can rely on them when the mental and emotional parts get a little hairy. Plus, you have us to support you! I also liked that trail -- really pretty. You are lucky to have that for warm-up hikes this winter. Speaking of that irony, I think it is good for some of the upcoming AT hikers to note (if they don't already know): Northern Georgia can get seriously cold. It's a warm-hearted Southern state, but don't underestimate the mountains in winter and even early spring.

    Great video and you had me Subscribing at the point you mentioned the someone who picked you up on looking into the camera, rather than defending and being argumentative (as I’ve seen many do in my lifetime), you totally accepted the comment and owned it. THAT is an authentic, selfless person and they get my vote ❤😊 Wishing you all the best & will be following along 👍

    I haven't tried instant coffee yet, though someone gifted me some folders crystals, but in '19, I used the folders coffee "tea bags" which were much like brewed coffee. You might give those a try.

    • @johnalden5821
      @johnalden5821 Год назад +1

      Those are light and convenient, but for my personal taste, a bit on the weak side. I had to use two at a time to get a strong enough cup. But, that's just me maybe. Cafe Bustelo and Starbucks Via pouches do the job for me.

    • @RissaRoams
      @RissaRoams  Год назад +2

      Yes, I've seen the tea bags! I'm thinking about doing an instant coffee taste test pre-trail with some friends.

      @@RissaRoams That’s probably a good idea. Your post reminds me to move my instant coffee packs closer to the Keurig so I can remember to try them out in the morning. I’ve enjoyed your channel and I wish you the best of fortune this year!

      Flavored instant or cold brew packets if you like flavor. I've mixed instant coffee and powdered creamer together. Just scoop into water and go.

    I was a Little shocked to hear you were from georgia. I'm from the South also, and I look for people to follow every year that say Appalachian correctly LOL..
    So I just figured for sure you was gonna be one that said It the way most people from here do. Maybe I can get past it😂 wish you the best

      Yeah...not sure what happened there😅 I think the first people I heard speak about the trail said it this way and most of the content creators I've watched do too. You'll have to forgive me. I'm southern, but I've never really sounded like it.😂

    If you are sitting still and talking, looking into the camera is kind of expected, but if you’re hiking, keep your eyes on the trail.

      Looking at the camera was how I fell down and injured my left ankle, removing me from the thru hike of the AT in 2022. 🐻
