I bought entite set on ebay from a scrap car for $125 but ended up buying an aftermarket tumbler from pelican parts because the ignition tumbler that came with the set had a defect. So now 1 have 2 keys one for doors and locks and one for ignition . I think the aftermarket ignition tumbler and 2 keys was 39$.
hi, what keys did you use? i cant remove this lock tumbler few days trying already. im using two pins and also wiggled it a long part inside but nothing :(
you must break the old tumbler first by tapping in a flat head screwdriver into the key slot then twisting the screwdriver blade clockwise with a channel lock or vise grip. it will break loose so it can be turned rt. into the number 1 position. then you can use the pins to remove the tumbler. if you have the key just turn it rt. to the number 1 position then use pins. if you don't have the Mercedes double pin removal tool make sure you grind your pins tips to an 45 degree angle. gl
Sorry I missed your question last year. I didn't use keys I broke old tumbler with a flathead a vise grip and channel lock. Enabling me to turn the ignition to the position to where the pins work as described In video. Hope you sorted it out.
@@rdallas81 ha ha i think they changed after 2006. But my 2001 explorer had the transmission fail 2 times in 160,000 miles. At least 1 time was under the warranty happened at 80,000 miles but thise ford trucks from thise years have a very unique sound when they start
Can paper clips work? In replacement of the pins?
What size screw driver? I heard it has to be the right size
Do you have the site on where you bought the tumbler with new door locks and trunk lock ? I’m assuming you bought it all together

Lmao @0:51 someone started up a crappy 2001 ford explorer or f-150. Worst transmissions ever made
I'm driving a 08 F150....Everything original but the dodge I'm towing with it.
