the lyrics are about his father abandoning him, and Corey blamed himself for it. oh...you'll love the acoustic version of song #3 from their album hydrograd...brilliant love song
Since y’all are expanding on Corey Taylor content you should check out his collab with Apocalyptica - “I’m not Jesus”. Awesome song that I think you both would enjoy.
I was in 10th grade when this came out, life was shit then, not ur typical teen reasons either. This song hits me hard to this day. Got me through some difficult shit
I'm sure you're already aware but it blows my mind that the man that fronts Slipknot, with such anger and aggression is the same guy that sings so melodically about his feelings with Stone sour. He's an amazing singer.
I love how everyone has their own take on Corey's lyrics when they don't know his thoughts on them. That's why, imo, you should always listen to Stone Sour/Slipknot/... songs without context, get a feel for it and then maybe look up Corey's thoughts if you're interested And, Lex, I hear the ghost guitar, too 😅
This song was on the Spiderman Movie soundtrack, the one with Toby Maguire. Sometimes this song helps you to ponder after all the good you have given, have you been thankful or cared to wonder who or what it takes to sacrifice just to make us happy. It's a conflicting theme and fits the movie theme very well. One of my favorites from Stone Sour and one of their softest hits. You should check out the through glass 👍
I really love the live version that Corey sang (same concert as his live version of Snuff). The audience singing along was perfect! Pitch perfect, perfect timing… just really impressive. And that’s on top of how amazing Corey is generally.
I remember hearing this years ago, Corey Taylor really does have such a diverse vocal ability. A beautiful song for those moments when you really need it.
Great song even though it's one of their ballads. You should check out Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero from when Jim Root (Slipknot) were still in the band. Incredible guitar work from him and Josh Rand. A couple of other great songs are Made of Scars, 30/30-150 and Say You'll Haunt Me
I love the house of gold and bones albums. The only issue I have with reactions to them is that while the songs are great solo, you very much lose something without the other so gs since they're designed to tell a story as a totality.
This was from the Spiderman movie! But, was about Corey's father. The video for this one would give a bit more obvious context. I think you'd like the vast majority of their songs.
A lot of people don’t realize how good of a singer Corey Taylor actually is because of his work with slipknot but he is actually a pretty amazing singer has range for days. You should definitely check out some more Stone Sour and even some Corey Taylor on his own he does a few songs are pretty good with Tech N9ne
I think a lot of good songs give just enough to set a mood but leave enough open to fit your needs for the piece. All good art should do that I think. No one should be reliant on someone else for their views of life and the world. Stay open and fluid.
@Brad&Lex you guys need to watch the actual video for this song. This song was featured on one of the Spiderman soundtracks (think it was the first) from the Toby Maguire days
I had never noticed how the guitar + cello sounds very "investigationy" but you're right. It reminds me of some of the background music in movies like Lethal Weapon.
What Lex is describing is the vocals being on a different time signature, than the melody of the instruments behind the voice. It's not imagined, it's actually there.
check out 'Song #3,' 'Through Glass,' & 'Absolute Zero' & 'Gone Sovereign' (these last two are kinda a part 1 & 2 kinda thing; they're both in the same song though so you only have to look for one vid)
When I first heard Slipknot I said this dude can belt it out, but I really love when he gets melodic. Then he came out with Stone Sour, and my favorite parts of his voice were able to shine.
Stone Sour, Through Glass, was a song that meant a lot to me during the months in hospital before and after my heart transplant. The video doesn't apply. But if you listen to it and imagine being very sick and stuck in a bed hoping and waiting for a life saving transplant. Especially when I was in the CVICU, the walls were glass so the nurses and doctors could see you at all times.
Thank you for reminding me of this song...was not a fan of slipknot but this was a great song I forgot about....also graduated from ISU which is just a hop, skitch from des moines....this always reminds me of evanescences lithium, or even alkaline trio's crawl.....may not be what the artist always meant but things i could relate to.....or even hurt (trent reznor before the man in blacks take) but simplified?
This song takes me back! Back when the only voice of reason I had was Corey’s lyrics in this song. Rock on!!¡ And man I gotta say, try to pause the song without losing the listeners momentum 🎧🎧🎧👍. Luv u guys!
Love that y'all did some Stone Sour. Slipknot gets all the love, and Corey's "other half" is just as talented, just a slightly different vein. Check out Hesitate, Song #3 (acoustic is just as good as the album version!), Suffer, Made of Scars, and Say You'll Haunt me, for starters. They have so many good songs, it's hard to pinpoint just a few for you to react to, because you really could just listen to entire albums of theirs and love every track.
A mirroring journey would best describe Vermillion vs Vermillion PT2 the unplugged is great yet the electric gutar is great as well, both are equally as good, but you should try that one do a twofer
You should do more Nu Metal! Static-X iLL NiNo Skindred Orgy Primer 55 Dropout Kings HeD PE Corporate Avenger Kottonmouth Kings Hatebreed Soulfly Deftones Spineshank Sevendust Nothingface That should get you started! 😉
Damn... How did I miss this?! I absolutely love Stone Sour. I hope you'll check out more by them. Through Glass is obviously a favorite of mine. But you should check out the original video. It has a great concept. Greetings from Germany
Y’all are amazing love listening to your way of breaking down the songs in your thoughts and feelings of what it means to you… may I suggest badflower- the jester I prefer the acoustic version personally God bless y’all!
the lyrics are about his father abandoning him, and Corey blamed himself for it. oh...you'll love the acoustic version of song #3 from their album hydrograd...brilliant love song
@Nick eZTarg8 or the version of song #3 with his son griffin whas pretty good aswel
Lex’s inner rock chick is showing with giving us bass lines/drum fills in between pauses of the chorus. I love it!
I wonder if she realizes she’s theoretically writing music🤷🏻♂️
@@gregiep123 good point lol. She def has a talent, or at least an ear for talent.
Since y’all are expanding on Corey Taylor content you should check out his collab with Apocalyptica - “I’m not Jesus”. Awesome song that I think you both would enjoy.
Awesome song.
Ooh, they should check out Apocalyptica in general, with their collabs with Brent Smith and Lacy Sturm.
I love their song with Brent smith ( singer of shinedown). It’s called not strong enough.
And the collab with the now former front man of Three Days Grace
Definitely!💕
This song has personal meanings to me I won't get into, but even at 37 it still hits me. Mental health is important. Stay strong everyone
It's more important than most people think.
I was in 10th grade when this came out, life was shit then, not ur typical teen reasons either. This song hits me hard to this day. Got me through some difficult shit
Keep on Keepin' On, Brother. 👍🤘
please!
This song makes me feel things I don't want to feel, but need to. Slipknot and Stone Sour helped me through so many dark days.
Music is not always about the notes you play. Sometimes it is about the notes you don't
*Jazz band kids have entered the chat*
I've heard David Gilmore's genius described that way!
Do ‘Inhale’ and ‘Through Glass’ next. And please do some more Deftones!
This ☝️
Wow, its been a long time since I heard this song. Holy hell, I'm getting old.
Lol. I remember when the Spiderman soundtrack came out.
Same 😂 16 year old me would scream-sing this chorus in my Pontiac Sunfire like it was my JOB 😩🤣🙌🏼
You'll probably enjoy a lot of Stone Sour songs. Inhale is interesting.
I'll second that!
I agree. Honestly the first two albums are flawless IMO.
I'm sure you're already aware but it blows my mind that the man that fronts Slipknot, with such anger and aggression is the same guy that sings so melodically about his feelings with Stone sour. He's an amazing singer.
lex has an amazing ear for music
The live version of this is incredible with the crowd singing along
I love how everyone has their own take on Corey's lyrics when they don't know his thoughts on them. That's why, imo, you should always listen to Stone Sour/Slipknot/... songs without context, get a feel for it and then maybe look up Corey's thoughts if you're interested
And, Lex, I hear the ghost guitar, too 😅
The first 2 Stone Sour albums are incredible. Every song on those albums is super great.
You would love “Get Inside” by Stone Sour. Probably their heaviest song.
facts
Good one!
You have to do “say you’ll haunt me”, let’s you know a little more about what Stone Sour is about.
Such a great, often forgotten classic. ❤🕯

Lex is a genius, a misunderstood genius
Say you'll haunt me is a badass one
I remember hearing this years ago, Corey Taylor really does have such a diverse vocal ability. A beautiful song for those moments when you really need it.
It's too bad that he's a whiny baby outside of his music.
FINALLY STONE SOUR!. Now you are in for a treat! 😀
Allegaeon “Proponent for Sentience III “
Allegaeon “Gray Matter Mechanics “
Great song even though it's one of their ballads. You should check out Gone Sovereign/Absolute Zero from when Jim Root (Slipknot) were still in the band. Incredible guitar work from him and Josh Rand. A couple of other great songs are Made of Scars, 30/30-150 and Say You'll Haunt Me
That is a great one!
The live at London version is incredible.
Hesitate is a great song by them as well. There all amazing though!
Try “Mercy” and “Absolute Zero” next.
I love the house of gold and bones albums. The only issue I have with reactions to them is that while the songs are great solo, you very much lose something without the other so gs since they're designed to tell a story as a totality.
Please check out these other Stone Sour songs: Inhale, Through the Glass and 30/30 150!
I love it when people react to Slipknot and then react to Stonesour.
This was from the Spiderman movie! But, was about Corey's father. The video for this one would give a bit more obvious context. I think you'd like the vast majority of their songs.
Prepare for a hundred comments pointing out the lead singer of Stone Sour, Corey Taylor, is also the lead singer of Slipknot.
Too late
Fun fact: he also sings for slipknot. Not a lot of people know that.
@@madameshadow357 wow!
Very deep song by a amazing singer & group of musicians !
"Inhale" is a hell of a song. Corey spent some time homeless, and damn that song nails the experience.
Melancholy music 🎶 💜
Stone Sour, Slipknot, it's all about broken people, depression, suicide. Redemption !!!
my dude Brad "that's to complex for me" lmao I feel you bro
Funny how Alex says the mirror reference when in the video he’s looking at himself. Good stuff
Props to Stone Sour...Silly world...is one of my favorite songs
Check out Absolute Zero, Made of Scars or Digital (Did You Tell) after this. Bother is for Stone Sour what Bobby Brown is for Frank Zappa. ;)
Excellent songs. Gone Sovereign should be listened to at the same time as Absolute Zero.
The music video for this was the first time the world got a good look at the man behind the mask. Good memories, thanks for taking me back.
Saw stone sour live and holy shit they are just as good live.
one of my absolute fave songs
Corey Taylor is the singer by the way 🤘 Check out Through The Glass 🔥🔥🔥
Oh you guys have got to do Hesitate by them. The video is so cool. You guys would really like it.
Love this song. My favorite stone sour song.
The singer is Corey Taylor. The lead singer of Slipknot! He is very talented!
I get what Lex means about the implied beat. You can imagine a drum beat that goes along with the strumming pattern.
yeah, it almost fits the empty space where his dad was meant to be...not sure if deliberate....but with their talent, probably XD
Please watch Deep Purple Child in Time live 1970…
Or BURN💥
Lead singer of Slipknot!
“Through Glass” and “Mission Statement” next plz!
I think a lot of good songs give just enough to set a mood but leave enough open to fit your needs for the piece. All good art should do that I think. No one should be reliant on someone else for their views of life and the world. Stay open and fluid.
This song will forever be one of my favorites
Thank You!

Is she a musician? She talks like one. Too cool
lex i love ur takes on music.
Theres two types of people in this world. Those who hear ghost guitars, and those who dont drink pumpkin spice lattes
So people who drink pumpkin coffee do hear ghost guitars? I drink normal coffee (how does pumpkin in coffee even work?), and I hear ghost guitars too.
Could you also do their songs "Zzyzx Rd." and "Through Glass"? Love them.
Also, thank you both for not supporting Pumpkin Spice in everything
Stone sour hesitate is freaking great!
Goddamn I love this song.
Bro, he just smoked Two J's and he's trying to keep up with his girlfriend's musical dissection! I love you're content. keep it up!
MOAR PLZ
I’m sure someone has already mentioned but he’s also the lead singer of slipnot
You know what I really like is how Brad tries to decipher the lyrics. I think he gets that it isn't just a bunch of screaming, but has real meaning.
He’s the lead singer of slipknot to
I saw this live & he came out with his acoustic guitar and alone and played/sang this song and it was amazing!
He was in stone sour first
Stone Sour, Through Glass, was a song that meant a lot to me during the months in hospital before and after my heart transplant. The video doesn't apply. But if you listen to it and imagine being very sick and stuck in a bed hoping and waiting for a life saving transplant. It was written for the Spider-Man movie
My first Stonesour song was 30/30/150 and I'd love to hear your take on it.
Lex gets it as usual
Through the glass.
it always made me think of the theme song from "in the heat of the night". I don't know why.
Corey is amazing. This band have some really great songs. Corey singing from the Knot’!!🔥🔥🔥🙏
Literally the stone sour song that introduced everyone to stone sour. Just you know like 15 years ago lol
This song hits home! On my birth certificate I prefer to keep as a bastard child!
This song takes me back! Back when the only voice of reason I had was Corey’s lyrics in this song. Rock on!!¡
And man I gotta say, try to pause the song without losing the listeners momentum 🎧🎧🎧👍. Luv u guys!
Subscribed, because of this song.
And Lexi is correct. Corey is a musical genius… in One’s humble opinion.
Stone Sour - Get Inside ... is the other side of the spectrum :)
Through glass is my favorite song by stone sour
Love that y'all did some Stone Sour. Slipknot gets all the love, and Corey's "other half" is just as talented, just a slightly different vein. Corey could sing soup ingredients and I would buy it !!!
When listening to this song you really need to watch the video at the same time.
This song BBBLLLLOOOOOOOOOOWWWSSS
The voice of a depressed and ashamed person contemplating suicide, but suspecting he would be unable to do it.
You make also check the song "Landing in London" by 3 Doors Down. It is more or less in the same vein.
Wicked Game Acoustic version is simply amazing!
A mirroring journey would best describe Vermillion vs Vermillion PT2 the unplugged is great yet the electric gutar is great as well, both are equally as good, but you should try that one do a twofer
You should do more Nu Metal!
Static-X
iLL NiNo
Skindred
Orgy
Primer 55
Dropout Kings
HeD PE
Corporate Avenger
Kottonmouth Kings
Hatebreed
Soulfly
Deftones
Spineshank
Sevendust

That should get you started! 😉
Cory wrote this song while in a van moving back to Iowa from Denver.
I suggest "Pekinpah" and "Absolute Zero" by Stone Sour. Like Slipknot I have bought every CD album they produced. They are in my top GOAT bands
Damn... How did I miss this?! I absolutely love Stone Sour. I hope you'll check out more by them. Through Glass is obviously a favorite of mine. But you should check out the original video. It has a great concept.
Greetings from Germany
Y’all are amazing love listening to your way of breaking down the songs in your thoughts and feelings of what it means to you… may I suggest badflower- the jester
I prefer the acoustic version personally
God bless y’all!
This is Slipknot's vocalist, Corey Taylor.
All music is open to your own interpretation
