It's Malaysian Chinese cuisine. The food looked absolutely so delicious. Lucky you. Being adventurous in searching for these local places paid off. Enjoyed your videos. I loved that youbtried the fish head curry in 3 different styles Malay , Chinese and Indian. Each are delicious and unique. Just like the laksa from different states johor, penang sarawak.
Thank you for taking such a good care for the older generation. Your parents feel the blessings. Loved the makarele most. Made me hungry. Thanks for this very long video.
Hiiii Evaaaaa you're so welcome, but of course its a blessing to me, and today was an all around just great day - my parents said it was their favorite day of the trip! I t's always great to share good food with family and friends, especially mackarel and especially like this!!! Ok - thanks as always - see you on the next one!
11:00 No, Joel, it's not okay to dump the bones onto the floor wherever you eat in Malaysia. Leaving them on the table is fine. It's easier when the workers clean up after your meal. And we usually don't eat the skin of the old cucumber, just the flesh. 😂
Hey bro. Love your channel. As a Malaysian, just wanted to point out something about your title. It should be Chinese Malaysian, not Chinese Malay. Malay is the ethnicity, Malaysian is the nationality. It's confusing, but yeah, hope what I said helps! Malay food is all completely halal while most Chinese Malaysian food--like what you ate--isn't.
He is right when he said Chinese Malay food. because Chinese food in Malaysia is a Malay way of cooking too, but Malays have everything halal, no pork. That's what he meant, ok.
Ok, I can see where you're coming. Like Chinese style nasi lemak. But I wouldn't call that Chinese Malay food. I would just say it's Chinese nasi lemak. Besides, the food that is shown in this video isn't a Chinese type of Malay food. It's steamed soup with ingredients like lotus root. This is not typically eaten or cooked by Malays in Malaysia. It's Chinese food (or Chinese Malaysian/Malaysian Chinese) not Chinese Malay food.
Love the way you describe each bite. Makes me hungry indeed. One thing about the Assam fish, it might be strange to find a hot spicey dish that does not fit in with the rest of the unspicey soups, but it's perfectly usual in Malaysia because it caters to the majority of Malaysians who need a dose of spicey in every meal.
wow you find this shop, this is one of my favor, love the coconut chicken soup. When i working nearby, i like to eat and buy the soup🤤 Hope u and ur family enjoy th food
Man what an awesome video , all the dishes look so good , the pork dish would be a must with some sticky rice. I hope you and Li are well, great to see your mum and Dad enjoying their time. Thanks for sharing , nuch love and Shine On 💯🇦🇺🙌👏🌶🌶🌶

Joel, Li, mom and dad totally an awesome find, those dishes are so unique that chicken in coconut delish a treat to the taste buds wondering what's going on in a good way and the chef is pleasant and welcoming. Agree with mom time for ice cream😊. May you and your family continue to travel safely❤

Good Morning Li, Joel, Joel's Family & all of the BruCrew. Peace be with you & Blessings for the start of a new week. It seems like creative cooking knows no bounds with the practical use of a coconut shell as a cooking vessel. Just starting to watch & wonder if each shell is a "single-use" container as it would impart it's own flavor to the chicken. God Bless Everyone !
The coconut? Should be single use. Cooking.netjod should be using the coconut water to cook the chicken inside it. Customers do eat the coconut flesh too, so, basically that coconut shell cannot be used anymore. I took home the coconut shell for gardening.
Lotus root and old cucumber is my favorite. Only thing missing from this restaurant is ABC soup (tomato, potato, onion, carrot and meat) and salty vegetables soup. You can find ABC at Medan Selera Boustead (come before 12pm, only on working days). Entrance at the lift (to 8th floor) next to car park entrance from Lorong Ceylon. You can also get mushroom and chicken feet from some wanton noodles stalls as well. Berjaya Times Square area is Imbi district. Not bukit bintang. Also, Lemang is another hard to get dish. You can find it at Datuk Keramat or National Zoo district.
