Pinion introduction is the best introduction theme that ever was created in the history of humaity. Dark, intence, psychotic, industrial and creepy. It freezes you to bones, makes you shiver and drives you in ecstasy. And THIS - Mr.Self Destruct, one of the most hard track of industrial music that i have ever heard. NIN absolutly amazing. And even in 2014 Trent is awesome! Best "band" ever.
I don't know who took this video, but as a present-day Torontonian and lifeliving NIN diehard, I feel obligated to lend the mah D for a minute for the pinhole camera gloryhole documentation of this epic moment in history I tellyawhat.
This was the second time I saw NIN after the first time in Molson Park Aug 6th 1994 where the blew everyone else off stage, even the amazing Pop Will Eat Itself (but they totally rocked too) and especially Soundgarden who were like limp dick after NIN's set (since seen them again too and they're way better now). I met TR at Opera House the night before this where I was DJ'ing a Ryerson fashion show, got my Downward Spiral CD signed. He later commented that he loved the music I was playing.\m/\m/
This was the best show I have ever seen...PERIOD!!!! It opend with a kick in the chest, pure power and aggression. Seen Rage, Tool, Manson, Ministry, FLA to name a few. Good friends with Martin Steek from 102.1 so I saw tonnes for free.....
Wow...Pinion sounds awesome live. I wish it was longer and louder like this on the Broken CD. I have to find some CD version of this version of Pinion.
Oh and one more thing I forgot to add to that was that Trent was more crazed out in his performances during the Spiral days. He's still pretty good now but nothing beats the old school Trent.
Hmm200: I was 14... but I still got to see them in Houston (on Halloween, no less). I had to sneak out of the house and rode with some of my friends from school... lol my Mom had the police looking for me and I was busily getting kicked in the head by people dressed as vampires and dominatrices!!! :D Too bad Trent seems to be finally hanging up his mic... :(
Fuck Yeah!! Now thats a true NIN show! Trent with the long hair, dress up in all industrial crazy mode, smoke, lights on stage, breaking the instruments. Today's NIN show isn't as crazy, loud, smokey, and industrial as before. Today's NIN is just medium dark lights Trent standing on stage with his muscles and very short hair singing, good. But nothing as good as before. I wish I've got to see them then but hey at least I got to see them last year during the year zero tour so I can't conplain.
Reznor evolves as an artist, if he were to go back to the roots (as said below) he would be selling himself short because of the progress made, PHM is classic and one of my favs but I appreciate the later albums too, No one is on his level.
This is awesome to see but man...everything about the 2006/2007 version of this song is so much better...faster drums, a step lower (so it's heavier by default), REAL bass and Aaron doing all that feedback noise during the breakdown and outro on his guitar. NIN 2007 > NIN 1994.
You'll probably never find a better quality vid, considering that A. it's never been released, and B. It was ripped from an old VHS. Unless Trent decides to actually release that thing, not much is gonna happen when it comes to quality.
To be fair they don't have that intensity anymore. After the Vol 3 tour it kinda went away. They still have been great live, even after Paul's passing, but the intensity wore on them and isn't there anymore =/
I have looked for it; but have not found it, if u do let me know. I sent you a friend request so we can keep in touch about NIN and put people in their place that don't know wtf they are talking about, like that idiot jimbob guy who has commented on your page.
I disagree (respectively) Manson was Reznor's protege'. Correct me if I am wrong but his first was "Portrait" it was heavy and raw, then if u want to get technical, Smells/Children and then AntiChrist (Portrait and Antichrist was produced by Reznor) followed by several more lesser know albums then, Eat Me Drink Me. From Portrait to Eat me... there is an obvious evolution of the music, but to question your post; Where did he "go back to the sound that made him popular?" I don't see or hear it man

Especially the live version with the time stretch. Adds a little extra creepiness.

The way that he used to scream just drive's me insane, love it.
The terrible quality of the video actually adds to the experience ; 3

+amaurythewarrior Now they really should..
I seriously got chills watching this. God I need to see them live again right fucking now. Ugh.
I saw them on this tour and I agree, this was the best opener for their shows. It really kicked things into gear, and made the dynamics more intense.
i was 2 and a half when he was singing "you let me do this to you"...God i wish i was there...
I wish I was old enough to remember those days.

I was considering whether to buy a ticket to see NIN live, but this has confirmed I should get the ticket now!!!!
best lineup
Damn wish I was born a decade earlier so I could've experienced this...
Too bad that background guitar from 5:09-5:45 isn't on the CD track I love that. Priceless vid thanks!
Oh and one more thing I forgot to add to that was that Trent was more crazed out in his performances during the Spiral days. He's still pretty good now but nothing beats the old school Trent.
F*cking right! I've been saying this since Vrenna left in '98. The Finck/Vrenna combo was lethal.
...I wasn't even born when this happened!!! FML.
how the hell you can open a concert with this song???
can't wait to see NIN...
Fuckin badass Industrial Rockin NIN AT ITS BEST!!!
One Word: POWERFULL!!
i always come to watch this to make my hostility level rise to the point of running through walls like the kool aid man
Wish i coulda been there. With an eight ball on the side.
classic art decade by bowie playing before the show
@luxlisbontoo If that comment was posted in 95 ten I would agree.
Good for you.
I saw Now I'm Nothing on 05/09/09. Radness.
@indruchova Ive read "Low" is one of Trent's fav albums.
I wish I could've seen this live! Alas, I was only four years old at the time ._.
Haha! still better than me! Im from 1995, but love the self destruct era
David bowie house music, very nicee.
Hmm200: I was 14... but I still got to see them in Houston (on Halloween, no less). It would've been great if Slipknot had been around to tour with them during this time.

Holy shit.
Heeey I was there too, and have this bootleg as well. Word!

NIN 2007 > NIN 1994.
I was 4 months old
@Redzombie13 You`re right... Powerfull "song"!
NINJA 09 was great too
You'll probably never find a better quality vid, considering that A. it's never been released, and B. It was ripped from an old VHS. Unless Trent decides to actually release that thing, not much is gonna happen when it comes to quality.
Well fucking done
i was about 1 and a half months old...strange
Damn that into track. Its fucking amazing. Pinion is what hell's army would be marching to if Satan came up to rule the earth.
The great TRENT FUCKIN REZNOR!!!!!!!
cams back in the day were huge. its totally hidden in a bag with a hole in it ,no? i applaud you if so
imageine being at that
there is simply not enough volume for this moment....
god damn it i fucking hate i wasnt 16 in 94.
Okay...true.
I saw them performing this song live in 2007, and am sorry to say that it was just too clean.
No. Fucking. Way.
Ouch this was hard.
To be fair they don't have that intensity anymore. After the Vol 3 tour it kinda went away. They still have been great live, even after Paul's passing, but the intensity wore on them and isn't there anymore =/
Art Decade- David Bowie
i was almost 3, i should be on trents shoulders for the show.
i was a pretty hardcore baby
I have looked for it; but have not found it, if u do let me know. I sent you a friend request so we can keep in touch about NIN and put people in their place that don't know wtf they are talking about, like that idiot jimbob guy who has commented on your page.
easy for nin u just do< 3
Oh...and I forgot Mechanical Animals, sorry.
I am number 55,001 viewer. Wow, I guess that means I'm special?

hehe it kinda looks like a school talent show in the beginning
Try them.
What's the song playing in the beginning - before the show starts?
Did you actually see the "Self-Destruct" Tour? Because if you did there's no way you could say that what you just said and actually believe it.
ok...producer, executive porducer. (My bad) you still didn't answer the question I proposed from your oringinal reply.
Lol, even though Slipknot are admittedly a good live band, they would have been slaughtered by NIN
Pure Violence !
